Work Text:
Your days aren’t always this hectic, but today was exceptionally different. Everything that could have gone wrong with your photoshoot did and you got home completely overwhelmed. Once you made it to your bed, you practically curled up into a ball. You were freaking out, even though you had done all you could to salvage the situation. No matter how much you told yourself that everything was ok, you couldn’t convince yourself fully and you began to spiral.
You didn’t hear the door open. Vox came home tired and drained. The day was long and grueling like it was everyday. He took a deep breath and placed his stuff on the couch. He didn’t see you anywhere around and it almost immediately put him on edge, but he didn’t let that show.
“Honey, I’m home!” Vox called out. No one answered and this put him on edge even more. He knew you’d be home by now, so why weren’t you answering him? “Sweetheart, where are you?” No one answered again. Vox took another deep breath and walked into the bedroom. That’s where he found you, curled up and shaking. His face softened and he walked up to the bed. He sat down and put a hand on your shoulder. “What’s wrong honey?” he asks softly.
“Everything fell apart, Vox. I tried to fix it, but it all fell apart,” you say between sniffles and tears. Vox’s heart breaks a little hearing your sad voice.
“I’m sure it’s ok. Who cares about a couple of mishaps once in a while?” Vox says, trying to figure out the best way to comfort you.
“Is it ok though? I want to give it my best every time, but I don’t feel like I did this time.” You turn to him with tears in your eyes. Vox practically melts and he holds you close. You begin to cry into his chest, letting out all the pent up emotions you’ve had collecting inside you throughout the day. You cling to him like a lifeline, wanting nothing more than to melt into him. Vox isn’t normally the softest person around, but right now was so different from his usual.
After a couple of minutes, you finally calm down and take a deep breath. You look up at him with a soft smile.
“You’re being so kind today Vox. I really appreciate it,” you say softly and you continue to hug him.
“I’m way too tired to get angry right now, and you looked so sad and overwhelmed.” Vox puts a hand under your chin and tilts your face up to look at his. He leans down and gives you a soft kiss. “I’ll always love you, no matter what your work looks like. I’m sure it’ll look good anyway. There’s no need to worry.”
You put your arm around his neck and pull him down to lay with you in bed. You shift around until you’re laying on top of his chest. He doesn’t stop you and if anything, he melts into the bed and keeps holding you close to him.
“Wanna take a nap sweetheart?” Vox asks softly. He strokes your hair with so much gentleness and care.
“Yeah, I do. I think that’ll be good for my mind.” You nuzzle into his neck and close your eyes. He wraps his arms around you and kisses your forehead, before he closes his eyes as well. You both enjoy the comfort and quiet of the moment for a little while before finally letting sleep take over.
