Chapter Text
Around the barrier between the last dimension they were in and the next place they were meant to stop at, police drones surrounded them. Them being a bunch of hoodlums, wannabe heroes, and a genderless child, all cramped together on a run away train.
With the key to get the train moving the other direction in one of their hands, they had one goal, get out of this alive, a task growing more and more unlikely as they were surrounded by a bunch of robots set to kill on sight. Was this the end for them all? Well, obviously not, but at the time, none of them knew that!
Anyways, with chances of survive going down to fuck all they only had-
"Wait- wait, wait, hold up. Also, language, please."
In a police woman's office, looking not far from her twenties was a human with a pen in her hand and an already confused and exasperated look covering her face. "Sorry, I don't quite follow. Are we still talking about what happened in the three days leading up to the event?" Officer Ryoko Kanzaki, if her little name plate was accurate and this was her desk and not some desk she decided to take for this little interview. "Also, please watch your language. There is a child present."
Letting out an exasperated groan as she flung her head back, "Jesus Effing Christ, better?" the blonde said glaring eyes at the police officer, who conceded that this would be the best she would get from her, "Yes, we are, I never once stopped talking about that," the blonde girl in a pink top groaned, a little "My Name is" Sticker with the name Jecka written let everyone know who the girl with the valley girl accent was. Off to the side, the police offer tried apologizing for her confusion. "What do you think we were talking about?"
Still offering an apology for the confusion, the officer placed her hand on a block of ice. "But just to be clear, your story does link up with how Karen ended up with this missing, right?" Giving the large ice block a tap, inside the thing was an arm. No body, no nothing, just an arm from half way down the bicep down.
Looking at the arm for a moment, a feeling of unease crept its way down Jecka for a moment before just saying, "Yeah..."
Officer Ryoko leaned back in her chair. It would be a long day. That was a certainty. Honestly, with everything that had happened, or at least allegedly happened, it was a miracle that it wasn't more confusing.
Still, it was confusing all the same, which meant-
"Okay, start again from the top," Officer Ryoko said.
"FUCK!"
"Language," Ryoko said again, pulling out a spray bottle and misting Jecka with it, who shouted something about police brutality but honestly, Ryoko just wanted to get this over with.
3 Days Ago - Neo Machida Police Station
12 Hours After Jecka, Jeffery, Karen, and Nicole's Arrest
Nine individuals sat in a room filled with desks, not one of those nice big ones for someone important, but those you'd see in a rec center or classroom. Or, maybe even better, a police station. Each little group clung stuck close to one another, each not really trying to talk with the other.
On the far left of the room, sitting in the front two desks, were a pair of girls. One yellow and the other red. Both human in appearance but while the red girl had what appeared to be dyed red tips, an assortment of bullets strapped to her, and a long billowing red cape, her companion was a little more subtle, with belts and a long flowing main of blonde hair and a metal prosthetic arm.
The next row of two seats had someone sitting in the lap of another. Probably not something that would be allowed if the other person was not a child. Small stubby limbs that marked them as not being older than at least 12. His make shift seat though was rather lumpy, boney even. Of course this had the explanation of being, surprise, a skeleton. Well, two skeletons but the other was in a seat by his lonesome. While the little human child wore blue with a shirt with purple stripes, the skeleton he sat on had a with a chest plate, a red cape, and blue briefs. One might say he was like a skeleton super hero the way he dressed. The other skeleton was smaller, shorter, one might even call him big boned, with a puffy blue jacket, black shorts, and a pair of pink slippers dangling on his boney feet.
Lastly of their group was a quartet. These things seemed to keep getting bigger the further along they got.
Each of this little quartet sat next to one another, one in the front row while the other sat just behind the. The ones sitting in the front were rather nerdy looking. The girl with one of those thick sweaters and a pair of black jeans, glasses resting neatly on her nose. Her general disposition screamed uncomfortable, which was far calmer than the person next to her. Much like her he wore glasses but was far more scrawny looking, with a bowl cut and pasty white skin covered by cargo shorts and an anime graphic t-shirt.
Just behind them were more "mean girl" times. One fiddling away on her phone, typing up a storm and rather angerly at that, with her hair tied back into a long ponytail, the brunette hunched a little as she shot her text. Her blue t-shirt looked like it hadn't been ironed with all the crinkles and the purposely ripped jeans had their little threads plucked open. As for her companion, Jecka, pink and peppy polo shirt with jean shorts.
And of course, it was the person who looked like he would be the first to piss his pants to be the one to say the first smack.
"This is all your fault, now we're in way over our heads..." the gangly young man said as he looked back at the brunette girl in the back, who had just put her phone away. A choice she was beginning to regret.
Raising her eyebrow in confusion. "What the hell are you talking about? You're the one who was driving."
"Only because you said I had to pull my own wait!"
"Well next time, don't invite yourself along on a trip we didn't ask you to," the brunette growled at the gangly nerdy guy. "Jesus fucking Christ."
"SHHH! LANGUAGE, HUMAN. THERE IS A CHILD PRESENT," the skeleton from the seat next to the nerd shushed. Now, do not mistake the caps lock for being on or him for screaming, this skeleton. He spoke only in uppercase letters. How did anyone know this? No one knew, but his speaking just came across like that.
"Jesus Effing Christ, better?" the brunette "corrected" herself.
"MUCH! THANK YOU!" The skeleton said with a chipper voice, removing his hands from the small genderless child's ears. He honestly did not seem to see any of the annoyance in the girl's eyes.
"Well, excuse me," the nerd said, ignoring the skeleton as best he could, "if I wanted to spend time with my girlfriend," something about how he said that last bit was like him trying to rub in the fact about his relationship. Changing up his target for conversation, "Karen...." the gangly boy whined, not groan, but whined to the young woman next to him, "We're in a room full of criminals!"
Doing her best to be cheerful, the girl, Karen, gave a warm smile, "Jeffery, just ignore them."
"But look at them, they look so shady," Jeffery continued to whine.
"They're not that bad," Karen tried.
"There is a literal skeleton next to me!"
"He could be nice?"
"I AM VERY NICE!"
"People who say are nice are not nice, Karen! And that girl has so many bullets on her!"
"It's a dangerous place?"
"For everyone around her maybe!"
At the conversation went back and forth, it was forced to end when a loud bang of something hitting something else got their attention. With the sound, it was clear it was an officer. Officer Ryoko. She looked like she would rather be somewhere else, but thanks to this lucky lot of fun characters, that wasn't the case.
"Alright, thanks for waiting," she said as she scanned the room, and began her rehearsed speech. "If you're in this room, that means you were recently arrested around here. Alright, I'll read out your names, dimension of origin, and why you were arrested. Let me know if I get anything wrong."
"Ruby Rose?"
"Yes!" the girl with red and bullets replied like she was called on by her teacher.
"Yang Xiao Long?"
"Yo," the blonde waved her fake hand up at the officer.
The officer let out a hum as she flipped some paper over to make sure things were right. "Both of your are from Remnant. Here on possession of illegal sugar and 50lbs of black tar heroin."
"Yeah..." Yang grimaced at the mention of the other stuff they were transporting.
Grumbling under her breath, "I told you not to go sign us up for that website, always stay official like dad said," Ruby complained.
Nodding her head, the officer went to the next group. "Papyrus and Sans Skeleton?"
"YES MA'AM!/hello" the two skeletons replied, though the brother of the more expressive and tall and handsome and popular and amazing Papyrus, had a more chill demeanor, as if he spoke not in capitals but in a casual, almost informal no upper case, type of way.
"Frisk "The Human" Dreemurr?"
"Howdy," Frisk replied from Papyrus' lap.
Okay, next up, "All of you are from Monster Earth. You all are being charged with speeding, evading police. Frisk, you are also being charged with carrying an concealed blade in a quadrant that is illegal and Papyrus you are being charged with impeding traffic. Does this sound right?
"Yep/sounds right/I CREATED PROPETUAL MOTION!"
"That you did... alright, finally. Jessica Willingham?"
"Sup."
"Jeffery Fitzgerald?"
"Present!"
"Karen Anderson?"
"Yes."
"Nicole Yu?"
"Yeah..."
Nodding her head, attendance was done, just one last thing, "All from "Plain" Earth, You are being charged with, speeding, evading police, destruction of a police vehicle, and destruction of property."
"Sounds about right," Karen was the one who answered, her head low while Jecka and Nicole tried to play it cool and Jeffery shook like a chihuahua in his seat.
Well, that was probably as good as it can get. Placing her little file of each of them down on the podium next to her and grabbing a pamphlet, Officer Ryoko turned it around to show it to those in the room. "Okay, now everyone take a look at the print out you have in front of you. You'll see that they have details about the program you're about to take part in. Ruby, can you please read the first line?"
Not expecting to be called on, Ruby seemed to fumble a bit with her handout before getting herself together. "Uh... sure, yeah let me just... 'The "Community Service Program. The Ginkyo Police Depart, under the jurisdiction of the United Multiverse Peace Agreement..."
20 Minutes Later
Leagalese was the worst language. Why? Because it made a point that could be said in 5 seconds into a 20 minute affair because if they don't clarify something, some dumbass will end up making a mistake and suddenly everyone has to pay the price for it. It was the corporate version of snuffing out a fire before one starts.
It was stupid.
"So instead of throwing us in jail, you're just going to be having us do community service?" Nicole asked as she threw the hand out onto the desk as she leaned back in her seat.
And to her credit, Ryoko didn't beat around the bush when she said, "Yeah... that's about it." What followed that was a chorus of people voicing their complaints about the long winded explanation that was summed up in a matter of seconds. It was like how most people felt with meetings that could be an email. It just waisted everyone's time. Though the noise of everyone talking did waste time to, so Ryoko had to quiet them down. "Alright, are there any questions?" she asked as she looked around.
A hand that had just had a nice manicure done went up.
"Yes, Ms. Willingham?"
"Yeah, how long are we going to be stuck here?"
Stretching a little, the officer knew what came next with what she was about to say, this was just like ripping the band-aid off quickly. "You'll generally be here about a week," she said, and just like before a hail storm of complaints came her way. Not a surprise, who wanted to spend a week doing community service? Who wanted to supervise them? Not her. And she didn't want to deal with this. "Alright everyone. Shut up!" she called out. And once they did, "Any more questions?" she asked, praying to whatever god ripped open the multiversal fabric to let there be none!
"yo, over here" a skeletal hand shot up. The officer, obviously so done with their antics, just let him speak and turned to him. "just outa curiosity, what are we doing for our community service?" he asked, a wide grin along his face.
Maybe she was expecting more fighting as when she opened her mouth, she said, "I'll have you-" she let out before the question hit her. "Oh, that's actually a pretty valid question."
Dingy, old, and probably a few years past its prime. Their cell.
Ryoko stood out with a space helmet, like most of those out here with the acceptation of Sans and Papyrus, because why would a skeleton need air? Behind her was a train.
"This is the Interdimensional Limited Express, otherwise know as the Milky Subway, which travels between 5 of the 10 known universes. It's official name is AM24. It was originally made by Titan Industries around "Plain" Earth year 1969, and is now managed by Chubu Railway Company," Ryoko gave the group an explanation of the vehicle's history. "As you can see, it's become very dirty over its continuous use. As such, your job today is to clean its carriages. 'Clean Up The Milky Subway,' this is your community service," Ryoko said as she looked at them all.
Jeffery still looked like he was about to piss himself if it wasn't for that Karen girl.
Ruby stuck next to Yang but was still fairing much better.
Sans, Papyrus, and Frisk all seemed to be getting along great.
And Nicole and Jecka both seemed to be getting along.
Man she loved her job.
