Hera sat with Kanan on one side of her and Sabine on the other. Next to Kanan sat Ezra, and next to him stood Chopper, while Zeb sat beside the droid. The crew had been invited to a Solstice feast in the village of Aris on the planet Hes, after helping defeat a group of Imperials who had been encroaching on the region.
After the feast, the village priest, Lico, stood up and began to speak. “Everyone,” he began, “you all know the story we tell each year, but at this time, with the Empire’s cold shadow upon us, it seems more relevant than ever. Every year, at the start of winter, the Frost King comes upon our land, and blankets everything in snow and ice. He comes from a hidden place of darkness, that no one can seem to find. He ices over the windows of our homes, and prolongs the darkness, so that we cannot see the outside world. Yet, if we continue to save what light we can, and create warmth inside our homes, then he can never penetrate our lives entirely. And, even through the frost and the dark, light can still be seen from one home to another, if only we keep it bright enough. So, let us continue each year to keep the light going, and to always share it with one another, for as long as we keep doing that, the light can never die, no matter how hard the Frost King and his minions might try to snuff it out. And let us remember, that wee each carry that light within us, and that if we join our light together, no matter what happens, we will defeat the Frost King and his companions.”
Everyone applauded.
