"Good morning, Julian," Jadzia said cheerfully. It was unusual for her to arrive to ops to find him already there, but not unheard of.
"Your hairclip is under the couch in your quarters, and you'll find it when you drop a stylus under there after your shift," he responded morosely.
"Sounds like you had a very specific orb experience last night."
"It was five nights ago, actually. The orb of time seems to have put me in a loop. I'm following protocol, but nothing's broken the pattern so far."
"Bad luck," she remarked sympathetically. "Did the monks have any advice?"
"Prophecies that don't make sense, mostly. I expect I'll only figure out what they mean after they're finished. That seems to be how it works."
"In romance novels, they break out of the time loop by sleeping with the right person."
"Are you volunteering?" In reply, Jadzia laughed, and Julian smiled ruefully. "I thought not."
