Work Text:

The moon was full in all its rise and glory over the night sky, alone, without the company of stars, only the dense clouds that covered the dusk, but it refused to let the darkness cover its light.

Everyone in the region went to sleep, the crickets fell silent, the owls took flight elsewhere, all that was left was a morbid and unsettling silence.

In the middle of the forest, inside a simple and cozy house, the woman with hair as dark as the night, walked to the kitchen wearing a long white nightgown while holding a candle in her delicate hand.

Cassandra stopped halfway to look out the window. It was locked and barricaded, just as she had left it earlier. After checking this, she walked carefully again until she reached the glass of water that she had forgotten before under the sink. Outside, there was nothing but a cruel silence that made Cassandra feel completely abandoned.

As she reached out to take the glass, the candle's flame caught the shine of her gold ring and the woman immediately stopped to observe the symbol of her union with... the man she loved most in life.

A lump formed in her throat the moment the image of her husband came to her mind after staring at the ring. Elias Weller. The most beautiful and romantic man Cassandra had the honor of meeting. Elias was of Native American descent, more specifically a direct descendant of the Algonquin people. His family lived in Canada and met Cassandra while traveling the world.

What was a friendship turned into a much greater and more intense feeling, first the courtship that lasted five years and then the marriage that was made following Elias's religious traditions. Her family, however, was always against their relationship. A Native American was not looked upon favorably by Cassandra's parents. His father was a rich, important businessman and her mother had an influential surname.

Elias always said to his beloved:

“You were born with a silver spoon, my love, you weren’t made for me, Cassie.”

But she always disagreed. She was madly in love with him, so much so that she rebelled against her own family, she gave up social status, money, comfort, her relatives, to live a life with Elias.

They got married, swore eternal love, promised to love each other in sickness and in health, in riches and in poverty, until death do them part...

Cassandra sniffled and swallowed back her tears before more tears came to the surface. He took the glass and hurried back to room. The couple's bed felt so empty without her husband sleeping on it. His smell was still permeated on the pillow, the wife didn't dare wash it or change it, she didn't have the courage to do it because she couldn't accept Elias's death.

How could she?

He was the love of her life, the man who showed her what happiness was, how beautiful life was, who showed her incredible landscapes both in the countryside and on rivers or lakes. Cassandra would never be able to get rid of the pain that grief caused her during all the months she believed her husband had died.

The woman placed both the glass and the candle on the nightstand next to the bed. She turned off the flame that illuminated the darkness, lay down on the bed and quickly pulled the covers over her small, delicate body.

There are moments when Cassandra weakens, she considers the possibility of leaving her small house to return to her parents' house. Not because she regrets choosing the humble life, but because she is no longer safe.

She sought help from everyone in the region she trusted. She even asked for advice from the priest at the church she attended. Everyone advised Cassandra to leave everything behind, to forget Elias, return to her town and find her own family. In other words, they told her to run away and not look back.

Cassandra had made up her mind, as soon as the first ray of sun broke the sky, she would take her things and leave forever. Whether her family would accept her after everything that had happened was another concern. However, she could no longer stay in the house that her husband bought for the two of them to live in for the rest of their lives together with their children.

The woman cried when she remembered the plans they had. She touched her belly, wishing she could have gotten pregnant sooner, so Elias wouldn't have left for what would be his death...

These painful memories and thoughts didn't let her sleep, she spent entire nights awake, regretting what had happened to her husband and wondering how she could have avoided his fate.

Again, Cassandra looked at her wedding ring and missed him more than ever. Some people advised her, saying that she was still young and beautiful, that she had her whole life ahead of her, and that her husband wouldn't want to see her in mourning forever. They were right, but still, it was so hard to move on.

Cassandra closed her eyes wishing that her husband Elias could comfort her in some way and suddenly, the silence of the night was replaced by a loud knock on the front door of the house. The woman immediately sat up in bed in fright and another knock was given against the old wooden door. She knew exactly what it was, this wasn't the first time and if Cassandra didn't run away, it wouldn't be the last either. Another insistent knock came and the woman felt more tears threatening to spill from her eyes. She gripped the bed sheet tightly as she felt panic overcome her.

It was early morning, it was already extremely late and Cassandra knew that no one would come to save her in the middle of nowhere at this hour.

What were once just insistent knocks turned violent when she didn't answer and within seconds the kitchen window was also being forced.

Cassandra waited in terror for it to stop, but she should have known it wouldn't happen. A bang was heard and then the sound of the window glass being shattered!

From then on, Cassandra realized that she would have to face the problem alone. Summoning courage that even she didn't know she possessed, she stood up and ran to the kitchen. There she found the window destroyed and open, the floor full of small glass shards and the door being forced violently even with all the locks and chains she had placed earlier to try to prevent exactly that!

"Go away!" Cassandra screamed with tears falling all over her face.

The violent advances to invade her home stopped when her voice spoke and for a moment she thought it had worked.

"Go away, please."She begged almost breathlessly.

Cassandra was already exhausted from having to deal with that situation every night.

For a long time, nothing was heard, everything suddenly became quiet and she calmed down a little. She placed a hand on her chest, took a deep breath and turned her back with the intention of going back to the room.

However, as soon as Cassandra turned around, the door was broken down with a single blow, the chains snapped and flew away. The woman covered her ears to the loud noise, still not daring to face what was outside, or rather, who...

When she slowly turned around, there was her husband staring at her in complete silence. But that wasn't the Elias that Cassandra fell in love with. Her husband was not that tall and not that thin. He didn't have dark grayish skin with prominent veins. He didn't wear that deer-shaped bone mask with antlers. Elias didn't have black eyes with white, almost glowing pupils.

That... That could never compare to her beloved Elijah.

The only thing that thing had like Cassandra's husband was its hair and the wedding ring that somehow still fit those huge fingers with even bigger nails.

Cassandra took a deep breath, swallowing the tears and letting her hands hang down.

"What do you want here? I told you to go away.” She tried to act cold. The creature stared at her, knowing she was scared although she didn't let it show, but he felt it. He's attracted to that. More than that, he is attracted to her because she is the prey he should be hunting in the forest.

"I don't want to see you. Get out." She said shakily.

The creature bowed, kneeling and resting its hands on the ground, taking a more primitive position.

"Cassie… Honey." His voice was extremely distorted because it wasn't his real voice, just an imitation of his human victims.

"Don't call me that, you're not my husband."

Even with the mask, he faced her with a disturbing smile that reflected several teeth stained with traces of his last victims. Cassandra was startled by that and walked back. She approached the kitchen cabinet and opened one of the drawers.

"Cassie… come… here." He stood up suddenly and with just two steps he was almost on top of her, however the woman pointed a knife at the monster.

"Don't come closer to me! It's your last warning.” She held the knife steady with both hands. "Don't make me hurt you, Elias, please!"

Cassandra walked backwards because he kept getting closer and closer to her, completely ignoring her threats. She shed a few tears because it was too cruel for her. Despite the distorted form, Cassandra could still see her husband in that creature. He still had the same long haircut with a small braid on the side, that was common among his people.

But enough, Cassandra made a terrible mistake believing that that creature was still her husband. After she saw what kinds of horrible things he was capable of doing when he was hungry, she decided that she would not be the next victim.

"Honey… we… are… going to… be happy." He repeated in different voices, the last one even sounded like a woman’s.

"No, leave me alone, you're not him!"

"I went back. For you. Cassie…"

For a moment, Cassandra wavered with the knife and stared into the creature's glowing eyes beneath the mask. He stood less than a foot away from her. Once again, she was deluded by the idea that Elias could still be like he was before.

But that wasn't even human anymore.

He tried to attack her, just like other times, he tried to bite her. Cassandra, however, stabbed the knife into her husband's chest to defend herself. She pulled the knife back in fright and backed away from him. She couldn't believe she was doing that to the man she loved most in her life, but if she didn't, he could kill her like he did to so many people.

He touched his wound and Cassandra cried in horror at what she had done.

"Cassie… don't you love me anymore?"

She closed her eyes tightly and more tears fell onto her nightgown.

"Go away, please, I'm begging you. If you still love me, please don't come back."

The creature blinked in confusion and approached her. Again, Cassandra raised the knife, but to her surprise, the monster touched her cheek gently with those thin, frightening fingers.

"No, get out of here, forget me, I need to forget you too. My husband is dead, you are not him."

"Are you… sure?"He asked, showing off the wedding ring on his left hand.

Cassandra closed her eyes and refused to look at it. He couldn't believe that his beloved had transformed into that figure.

"Cassie… I love you."

"No." She cried with her eyes still closed because she didn't want to let herself be carried away. It wasn't the first time this happened.

"Baby… I missed… you so much." He murmured with a broken voice. The creature's mask approached her face and Cassandra thought he was going to kiss her like old times. For a brief moment, she almost gave in, but she remembered that his teeth were dirty from the horrible things he did and so she pushed him away. The monster hit the table and stared at the woman with a frightening expression.

"You're… irritating me, Cassie."

"You shouldn't be here!" She said nervously with the knife. "Get out of here before I call the police…"

"Call!" He imitated her and faced her with a look of pure challenge now.

Cassandra knew very well who he wanted to kill. She wasn't going to call the police, she couldn't put anyone else's life at risk.

The creature approached with cruel steps and bent down to say very close to Cassandra's face.

"You… are still my wife." And again he showed off the ring.

"No, I married Elias Weller and you are not him! No matter how much you look like my husband, he is not a monster."

He shook his head, as if he didn't believe what she was saying.

"Do what you want, you will always be a monster!" Cassandra tried to hit him again, only to put a definitive end to it.

However, the monster was faster and grabbed her hand tightly by the wrist. Cassandra was scared by her own vulnerability at that moment, she tried to pull the knife back, but he threw it away.

Cassandra tried to run after the weapon, but she was knocked to the ground and before she knew it, that monster was on top of her body.

"No!" She slapped him that made his mask fall. When he looked at her again, it was as if Cassandra was seeing her husband's spirit. More than ever, he looked like her husband. So much so, that she started calling him by his old name:

"No, Elias, please don't kill me. It's me!" She struggled trying to get out from under him.

The monster stared at her with his eyes shining with a strange feeling that fear didn't let Cassandra recognize. She just despaired because she thought he was going to devour her like he did other humans.

He lowered himself onto her and Cassandra turned her back to try to escape. However, Elias' claws were on her nightgown and when she made that movement, the fabric near her breasts was torn. Nothing too revealing, but enough to show off a bit of her ribs and neck. He stared at her after that for a long time.

"Don't kill me, please, I promise I won't hurt you anymore, Elias, but... AH!"

Cassandra screamed when she felt his teeth biting into her shoulder with all his might.

"No Elias! Don't devour me, please." She asked scared as she continued to feel him biting her.

After a few minutes, Elias finally released her and Cassandra sobbed as his teeth fell apart. She tried to crawl away, but he pinned her to the kitchen floor and turned her face down toward him.

"Please, my love… do you remember our plans? Huh? We were going to travel to your homeland at the end of the year, you said you were going to teach me how to ride a horse… you said I would be pregnant with our child when I went to see your family again." She cried emotionally.

"I remember." He replied coldly. His dark hair hovered above his wife's face.

"I wish I had accomplished all of this."

"But… we still… can." He responded by kissing her face with his cold lips and frighteningly, this small gesture of affection ended up taking other directions the moment he lowered his mouth to lick Cassandra's neck.

"Elias! Wait, what are you doing?"

"I… love you, Cassie. I love you." He said with a distorted voice as he kissed her neck.

"I love you too, Elias." Cassandra said, placing both hands on his face. Somehow, that creature was still her husband. Or at least what was left of it.

Elias leaned over the woman and began leaving a trail of kisses and licks on his wife's neck and shoulders.

Cassandra let herself be carried away by emotion and said:

"I missed you so much, I cried for you every day." She kissed the top of his head.

She noticed that Elias wasn't interested in these simple affections, he seemed much more desperate for her. The way he grabbed one of her breasts through the tear in her nightgown and kissed the other right through the fabric made her realize what he wanted.

"Elias… my love." She touched his face and his frightening eyes turned to her at a disturbing speed. Cassandra was scared that she couldn't touch him, but in fact, he wanted more, much more.

Elias pressed and rubbed his hips against his wife's.

"Dear, are you…?"

"Yes!" He replied, rising above her.

Cassandra touched Elias's face with a love and understanding that only a woman would have towards a horrible monster like him.

"My love. You still look at me with the same look as when we got married." A tear of emotion ran down Cassandra's eyes and her husband, now a monster, bent down to kiss the corner of her lips. "How is it possible that you still treat me like this after everything that happened?"

Cassandra had no idea how much he was holding back from sinking his claws into her throat and devouring her flesh like a starving animal. Instead, Elijah stared at her adoringly. He was deeply turned on by being on top of his wife, besides, she was so beautiful. Elias didn't know if he wanted to devour her or if he wanted to make love to her like old times.

"Both… I want both."

"What?" She asked confused, but he bit her neck again with superhuman strength. Cassandra screamed, but hugged her husband's scarred back.

"Elias, I love you with all my soul, my dear." She murmured as he bit all over her neck and shoulders. Cassandra touched his face and said: "It's your decision, my love. You decide what you want to do with me."

The creature's glowing eyes widened in surprise and he stared at it.

"No…"

"No what, honey?"

"Don't make me… decide that."

"I'm tired of fighting what you've become, Elias. I will accept my fate, regardless of what it is. I will continue to love you. We swear."

She gave the creature a peck on the lips and after a few seconds, her husband seemed to have lost control and let unconsciousness dominate him. He turned Cassandra onto her back and she thought she would be killed, but when he pulled her nightgown down and kissed her back, the woman was reassured.

"Elias…" Cassandra tried to speak, but his hands covered his mouth and he said with a trembling voice.

"You're driving me... crazy! Crazy, Cassie! No… say my name."

So she did, she didn't want to upset him. Her husband continued kissing and occasionally licking the area around her spine. Cassandra began to moan softly against his hand. When Elias tore her nightgown even further, he pressed his hips against hers again and his other hand groped her breast eagerly. Cassandra couldn't believe she was doing this to her husband in this state, but deep down, she was happy because for the first time in a long time, he was back to being like the man she married.

Elias began to feel pleasure just from the fact that he hadn't devoured his wife yet. He could, all along, his senses were telling him to do it, but he ignored it and kept grinding his hips against her every time those thoughts came. Without him realizing it, he was imitating the movements of when he used to be inside her. He woke up from this trance when he saw how much his wife was moaning against his hand. He removed his fingers from her lips, hearing Cassandra's adorable and sweet moans almost made him lose everything.

"Cassie!" He growled in a broken voice as he squeezed her breast tightly.

"I love you." She murmured with her eyes watering with pleasure.

"Me too... baby." He said desperately and then his hand ended up down there. He ripped her cotton panties with his claws and seeing Cassandra so vulnerable beneath him almost sent him over the edge. Mainly because she was enjoying it.

He stuck his fingers into her and was surprised by how wet she was already for him. Elias kissed her shoulder and his sharp teeth grazed against her delicate skin.

"Dear, please forgive me, I'm not… I'm so wet, I didn't mean to." She whimpered in shame.

Elias smirked as he dragged his teeth across his wife's jugular. He noticed Cassandra trembling with fear in his arms and her intimacy getting even more wet.

"Do you want me to eat you?" She turned to face him scared, not knowing where he had learned to say those things since he became a Wendigo.

"That's not it..."

"Liar." He increased the speed of his fingers in her, his wife's moans became even more cute and he loved seeing her writhing with pleasure even with his claws so close to her intimacy. With his other free hand, he went back to stimulating her breasts and Cassandra whimpered loudly.

"You can… love." Cassandra was surprised when she heard his permission just like when he was human. She couldn't hold out much longer after that, not being stimulated like that with those glowing predatory eyes above her. She moaned and trembled in the creature's arms.

After a few minutes of recovering from the ecstasy that hit her, she felt Elias squeezing her waist tightly and removing the remains of her torn clothes. She took a deep breath and sat down on the floor looking directly at him.

"Honey… let's go to our bedroom."

His long hair was messy, but somehow, it turned her on even more.

"Can I?"

"Of course. Let's sleep together, my love, just like before, there's no problem at all." She said, getting closer. Cassandra hugged the creature with love and he responded by placing it on top of her lap. Elias buried his face in the crook of her neck and smelled Cassandra's hair.

He wanted to eat her, he wanted to devour her, drink her blood, but at the same time, he wanted to be inside her and push hard and make her moan.

He just hugged his wife, while she continued to be his safe haven even after everything that happened.
