Chapter Text
When Izuku thinks back to the day his life changed he doesn't remember the frantic yelling of the servants or the feeling of his skin burning, no, he remembers chasing his best friend through the courtyard feeling the breeze ruffle through his wild hair like the feeling of freedom.
He doesn't remember much after that though. His first heat hit him hard and when he'd woken he was met with a tearfull mother and a solemn father asking him to protect their kingdom. Of course he said yes. Even if he hadn't still been dazed from his heat he would have said yes because what was his life compared to the well being of his entire kingdom?
He knew that political marriage was a strong probability for his future, he just never imagined it would be the day he turned eighteen. He had also hoped his husband would be someone closer in age. Still, he held his head high in front of his people and only cried after everyone had gone to sleep.
The alpha was the king of the neighboring country. He held military power that their kingdom did not and with the threat of war from the west they needed every ally they could get. He wasn't cruel but he was far from the doting mate Izuku had envisioned. Their time together was mainly in the name of making an heir but regularly there would be gifts left for him in the morning. Those little things kept him going on the loneliest of nights.
His omega, still young and eager to please, quickly became pregnant bearing the king twin boys, Akito and Haruto. Just like their names implied they were the bright light in his otherwise dark world. Izuku was happiest during that time. With two little ones to care for he didn't feel lonely and his mate boasted about his omega every chance he got. However, the kids grew up quickly and being raised with Izuku's love and support they became independent in no time.
Izuku was happy for them though he felt a longing for the freedom they held. He let them venture on their own paths not wanting his sadness to influence them. That was when his omega began to quiet. It was small things at first, he stopped purring and hearing his omega's input. He didn't even notice he'd stopped producing a scent until he tried refreshing his nest and everything smelt too sterile.
Eventually he stopped having heats all together. His husband wasn't too pleased about that but considering he had produced two healthy heirs he couldn't complain too much. The boys were thirteen when the king stopped visiting his chamber. If anything it was a relief to let the king be entertained by the concubines, he could now focus solely on his children.
A few years later the king grew ill and died. It was a mundane death for someone of such status. When he heard the news he didn't even cry like he had for his parent’s passings. The combined kingdoms came together and mourned their king before celebrating the coronation of the new kings. One son was politically inclined while the other specialized in economic stability. Together they ran the kingdom like a finely tuned machine.
He was proud of his children but with their new titles and duties they had little time to entertain their mother. Izuku felt lost without the duty of wife or mother. His mind as well as his body began to deteriorate now that he wasn't needed and his children worried for him.
A house in the countryside was prepared for Izuku to retire to, a place where he could rest and enjoy beautiful things again. He was hesitant at first, worried that he was being sent away to be forgotten but his sons assured him they just wanted him to be happy. With that his life was packed up and he was sent towards the carriage that would take him to his new home. The coachman opened the door and a figure emerged to help him up. He reached for the hand and finally noticed a fimailiar handsome face.
"Kacchan?"
