Work Text:
It well may be
“Izuku”
Izuku pursed his lips, fighting the urge to cry as he turned to see the vestiges behind him.
“It’s time, isn’t it?” he asked, trying not to choke on his words.
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime,
“If we want this plan to work, then yes.” Nana told him, nodding solemnly.
“You know, I really hate goodbyes.” Izuku said, voice wavering ever so slightly. “How about a see you later, or someday we’ll meet again instead?”
“Sure, kid.” Diagoro agreed, seemingly trying to keep a strong face as well. “We’ll see you later.”
Yoichi, Kudo, Bruce, Hikage, Diagoro and En all disappeared for the time being after giving their versions, leaving Nana as the last one.
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
“You’re going to do great things, kid.” Nana told him earnestly, a single tear making its way down her face. “I’m so glad I got to know you.”
“Nana!” Izuku sobbed, trying to control his tears. “I was trying not to cry!”
“I know,” she sniffled. “but you need to hear it, we all care about you a great deal. Just know we’ll be watching from wherever, okay? And let Toshi know the same, will you?”
“Yeah, I will” Izuku replied. “See you later, Nana.”
Nana gave him a shaky smile, “See you soon, Izuku. But not too soon, understood?”
Izuku gave a watery laugh, “Understood.”
Nana gave a sharp nod, and disappeared back into the mindscape, allowing Izuku to wake up.
He opened his eyes back to the battlefield. No time had passed, yet seven parts of himself would be gone soon.
You'll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
