Noelle was so excited for the festival, feeling so happy to go with Susie. She had asked Susie to go with her, and when Susie said yes she couldn't remember ever feeling as happy as she had been in that moment! At least, not since Dess disappeared And now, she got to spend that time with the girl she really really liked.
It was kinda funny, Noelle had a HUGE crush on Susie ever since Susie move to Hometown at the beginning of the school year, but it wasn't until a few days ago she started to really get to know Susie. It wasn't until a few days ago that Noelle started to actually get to know Susie.
And it had made Noelle's feelings only grow...while also making Noelle have a easier and easier time talking to Susie.
Originally, Noelle had liked Susie because she was different, she was disobedient, she was dangerous. Everything Dess had been and everything Noelle had never been able to be.
But the more she got to know Susie, the more she found herself loving the real Susie. the Susie who protected her friends fiercely, the Susie who was so kind and hopeful, the Susie who was loyal to a fault, the Susie who...Noelle wanted to be her girlfriend not because she was different and dangerous, but because she was kind and compassionate while still being unapologetically herself. Still being brash, violent, loud, and constantly smirking.
Noelle knew she was a complete simp for Susie but couldn't help it. Susie was so amazing. She was everything Noelle desired in a partner and she deeply desired the purple dino. Susie was even more amazing in the dark worlds.
Which was why Noelle was so excited to go to the festival with Susie! Noelle was currently looking at herself in the mirror. She was wearing a soft summer dress. It was a soft auburn(closer to brown then red)color and covered in floral designs. She was also wearing a pale sunhat that had holes in it for her horns. She had no shoes(like always)and was looking at herself in the mirror trying to figure out why she felt something was missing.
Then, it hit her.
She rushed to her closet and looked around until she found one of her old belts(a red one with golden parts)and wrapped it around her waist, tightening it just right and smiling at herself in the mirror
perfect.
She then rushed downstairs, making sure to be quiet so mom didn't hear her. Mom had been...weird yesterday. She had banned Noelle from leaving the house after picking her up from the hospital and had locked her in her bedroom(which wasn't exactly abnormal, but normally mom only locked the door when Noelle was in trouble)but luckily, the door had been unlocked when Noelle woke up this morning(She ignored the fact she didn't get dinner)so everything was fine!!!
Noelle silently slipped out of her home and rushed towards the gate, and then she saw Susie there waiting for her and blushed.
Not because of anything she was wearing(Susie was in the same baggy ripped clothing as always)but because she looked so pleased with herself and smiled brightly when she saw Noelle. Noelle smiled brightly right back at Susie and unlocked the gate before rushing out and wrapping her arms around Susie.
"It's so good to see you!!!" Noelle said brightly, pulling away from Susie with a bright cheerful smile.
"Good to see you too!!" Susie said with a smirk. "And I like how fancy you dressed as well."
Susie winked and Noelle laughed before looking away with a blush.
"Well, I wanted to look good! Seems I was the only one though!" Noelle said with a light giggle, face still flushed, as Susie rolled her eyes.
"Whatever, let's just go to the stupid ass festival." She grabbed Noelle's arm, ignored the surprised yelp that left Noelle, and dragged the deer to the festival.
Susie and Noelle walked to the festival together, and Noelle checked her wallet to see how much she had. She smiled when she saw she had over 200 from saving up her allowance, and she could pretty easily guess that Susie likely didn't have much(if any)money for the festival considering everything. From how she dressed to how she was constantly eating non-edible things.
It was a little worrying and Noelle would probably think about it more when she wasn't having a date with the girl she had been crushing on for months.
"I'll pay for everything Susie, I have plenty of money!" Noelle chirped cheerfully. Susie seemed surprised.
"You sure, we can just steal shit." Susie said, smirking easily, but Noelle immediately shook her head.
"No! We can't just steal Susie!" Noelle was aghast at the idea alone. There was no way she would steal!! Her mother would be furious! Her father would be disappointed!!! She could never!!!
Susie groaned. "Whatever, sure, go ahead and pay." She rolled her eyes hard.
Noelle couldn't hold back a soft giggle as she nodded and proceeded to lead the way, intending to buy some tickets for herself and Susie first and then to do games and rides. She was very excited. This would be her first time doing the festival without Kris! Yes, she did care about Kris and yes, she didn't blame them for their families always forcing them to go to festivals together, but still...
She was happy this year she wouldn't be screaming her head off while Kris shook the cart on the Ferris wheel.
Noelle and Susie ended up spending a lot of time together, going on rides, playing games, Noelle ended up finding herself blushing like crazy when Susie purposely won her a large plushie of a purple dragon. It would be a lie to say she didn't bury her face into it to hide her beet red face.
They loved the rides they went on together, laughing and going on the Ferris wheel, cup rides, Noelle screaming at the top of her lungs while Susie laughed hysterically when they went on a swinging hammer ride that went upside-down, Noelle blushing furiously when she convinced Susie to go on the 'tunnel of love' and more. It was a lot of fun, and Noelle found herself leaning against Susie with a soft smile and a light flush.
At one point, Noelle was eating some cotton candy when suddenly, she felt a harsh yank and yelped when suddenly she was dragged into a more private area, and Susie pointed at something and Noelle gasped at the sight.
KRIS AND BERDLY WERE ON A DATE!?
They were both dressed up, with Berdly in a full-blown suit, and Kris dressed up in a very feminine outfit(Noelle knew from experience that Kris LOVED dressing feminine when they wanted to be fancy, always saying how feminine had way more options then masculine), and Noelle felt her jaw drop at the sight alone.
Sure, she had known Kris had a bit of a crush, and that Berdly claimed to be in love with Kris in the Dark World, but she had assumed both things were harmless and would fade overnight.
The two seemed...weirdly happy together. Kris was laughing and smiling in a way Noelle had never seen before, and Berdly was unapologetically loud and proud. Noelle would have never thought that Kris Dreemurr, their weird childhood friend who was very quiet, constantly pulling pranks and was extremely mischievous, would be happy in a relationship with Berdly. The pretentious, teachers pet who was constantly talking over everyone and acting like he knew better than everyone else in existence. Yes, Berdly could be nice, especially when he was alone with Noelle, but Noelle would have never expected Berdly and Kris to ever be good for each other. They were too different, they barely knew each other, they had never show interest in each other before the Dark World adventures.
And yet...
The two actually seemed happy. They were holding hands, and Berdly was talking a lot(Noelle couldn't really hear him over the sounds of the festival)while Kris seemed very happy to simple listen and walk beside him.
It was weird, seeing how happy two of Noelle's closest friends seemed together. How they laughed and blushed and leaned into each other.
And it made Noelle feel guilty for what she did to Berdly upon him mentioning his feelings for Kris in the library dark world.
Susie seemed to feel a mixture of shock and disgust at how Berdly and Kris were like together, whispering under her breath over and over, "But it's Berdly."
Noelle just laughed, feeling truly happy for Kris and Berdly and wishing them nothing but the best.
