Work Header

take it too far, take what you want

Summary:

Moving like a magnet to her polar opposite, Jinx gets pulled into Vi’s orbit and embraces her with a tight hug, gripping the fabric of Vi’s leather jacket roughly. Vi inadvertently takes a breath of Jinx’s perfume which smells of vanilla and lilac, and it intoxicates her for a brief moment of bliss. She inhales slowly, taking in the scent of her sister, thinking that maybe this is a bad idea, and that they need to tread carefully—but Jinx feels so good against her that Vi kind of forgets all of that reasoning.

or simply:

Vijinx are reunited for the holiday after a few estranged years apart.

Work Text:

Vi loves her quiet and quaint lifestyle—her steady job at the pub, the small apartment above it that she lives in, and the girlfriend she spends all of her free time with. There isn’t much excitement in her life beyond the monthly themed drinks she has to come up with for the bar, which is just fine

Her life is fine.

It isn’t chaotic anymore now that her little sister has moved across the country, or across the world, Vi doesn’t actually know where the girl’s location is. She tells herself it’s for the best that Jinx’s whereabouts remain unclear most of the time, since Vi spends too much of her time worrying about the loose cannon galivanting around the city. At least now Vi isn’t directly responsible for Jinx anymore, although she still feels responsible in her heart.

Once Jinx turned 18 and aged out of foster care, she fled Vander’s custody as soon as she was able to—why so suddenly, Vi has never known. The freedom and enticing idea of independence is quite liberating, so Vi doesn’t really blame her. The quick getaway still hurt though, and it stings Vi if she thinks about it for too long, so she works her easy job, tends to her easy relationship, and lives her easy life without her sister.

Every year, Vander closes the pub for Christmas Day so that everyone who chooses to can enjoy the holiday in their own way. For Vi, this means sleeping in until dinner time, when Vander lays out the table for whoever needs a meal and a little conversation. This crowd usually consists of Vi and her girlfriend Caitlyn, a few regulars, some friends, and once upon a time ago, Jinx.

It’s been two, maybe three years since Jinx showed up to Christmas dinner, so Vi has pretty much lost hope that she’ll ever return for another now that she’s had a taste of free will. The concept of Jinx running off to live her life makes Vi’s blood boil every time she thinks about it, if she’s truly honest. She wasn’t allowed to abandon her little sister and pursue her own goals, Vi felt the need to stay with the family they had made for themselves. Looking back, she thinks that maybe being a little selfish would have saved her some of this heartache.

This year, Caitlyn tells Vi she’s going out of town with her family for the holidays, and invites her along, but Vi declines. The hope that Jinx will show up to Christmas dinner is always too strong for her to be away from home. Caitlyn accepts the excuse that Vi gives her, which is that there will be extra people at dinner this year and Vander will need help, so she needs to be home to be an extra set of hands. As Caitlyn leaves Vi’s apartment, she kisses her fleetingly, leaving dark blue hair whisking around Vi's face as she turns on a sharp heel towards the door. Vi manages a convincing kiss back as she scrolls through her phone, staring at the last text messages she sent to her sister that have all been unread and unanswered:

Happy birthday kiddo! I love you

Christmas dinner is fine.

There’s about a dozen people around their makeshift table (made out of bar tables and spare chairs), with Vander at the head of it and Vi towards the end. The meal is lovely, as it was prepared mostly potluck style for the amount of people, and the few dishes that Vander contributed were amazing as always. Vi is about halfway through with her dinner, more specifically, halfway through a mouthful of mashed potatoes, when there’s a loud knock at the wooden bar doors.

“We’re closed!” Vander shouts from his seat as others scoff and chuckle at the interruption. A moment or two of silence passes until there’s another knock, this time more persistent, so Vander finally gets up and goes to answer it—against Vi’s earnest stare.

“You guys really know how to welcome a girl to the party, huh?”

The sound of Jinx’s voice echoes through the large room in a high pitched tone, although in Vi’s head it doesn’t stop once the younger girl shuts her mouth. The bite Vi was chewing momentarily gets stuck in her throat while she processes the sight of her little sister standing in front of them all—hair in braids, down to the ground. She’s got piercings and tattoos and she looks nothing like the little girl that used to run around the bar stools, chasing after the alley cats that used to sneak inside.

“Pow–uh…I mean, Jinx?” Vander sounds about as lost as Vi feels, but he pulls Jinx into a bone crushing hug nonetheless.

“Hiya Vander! Long time no see!” Jinx is all bubbles and sunshine while Vi is boiling from the inside out. How can she be this nonchalant about everything? Ignoring her for months—hell, even years and now she shows up like no time has passed? Vi can feel her cheeks heat up as others look back at her reaction—so she does her best to feign happiness.

“Hey sis,” Vi goes in for a hug as Vander guides Jinx over to the table, to a spare seat where there’s a plate waiting to be filled with food from the countertop. Before Jinx sits, she accepts the hug from Vi with a sheepish smile, and says quieter, “Hey Vi.”

The moment they share as they hug is tense, Vi can feel every muscle in her body turn to stone under the fabric of Jinx’s t-shirt. Vi is certain she feels the same, as her body can barely move an inch once Jinx lets go from the embrace. The younger sister is served food—which she starts scarfing down as soon as it’s placed in front of her. Vi reclaims her original seat and tries her best to engage in conversation with the other guests, but all she can think of is how much Jinx has changed. It isn’t just the physical changes that perplexes Vi, but the subtle emotional changes as well. Someone asks Jinx where’s she’s been (“all over!”), while another person asks how long she plans to stay here (“I don’t really know?”), and the conversation just keeps going and going until all Vi can hear is incessant buzzing.

“I’ll be back in a few.” Vi excuses herself from the table with the mostly empty plate in her hand, and ignores the glances from various guests around the table. She should call Caitlyn, check in on her, but there isn’t any part of Vi that’s interested in what Caitlyn is doing right now. All Vi can think of is the way Jinx spoke about the various jobs she’s been taking as a tattoo apprentice, how she’s been living in a studio apartment all by herself, how she wants to go on a cruise next year…how wonderful her life has been without Vi in it.

Vi stalks upstairs to her small apartment, away from the noisy conversations below, hoping to distract herself with something mindless. She sits on the edge of her bed, which is being held up off the floor by wooden palettes, and stares at the pile of clean laundry sitting on the couch—untouched for days. A perfect task for her busy mind, which is exactly what she needs right now. Vi huffs as she launches herself the few steps in front of the bed to the couch, and reaches for a tank top to start folding.

Only two pieces of clothing actually get folded because it turns out that Vi can’t focus long enough to fold a stupid pair of socks—too busy letting her mind run away with the intrusive thoughts of Jinx getting up to who knows what while she’s been free from the watchful eye of being supervised by parental figures.

Vi thinks about the drinks Jinx has been drinking, the drugs she’s been taking, the boys or the girls she’s been kissing…it’s too much for her to handle all at once. Finally, Vi decides she needs to handle these anxious thoughts the only way she knows how—by avoiding them altogether. She drops the pair of shorts that were mid-fold and bolts for the back door, leading to the alleyway. If folding laundry can’t take her mind off of her inner turmoil, maybe a late night workout session can.

All the blood pumping through her veins makes Vi remember how things used to be with Jinx when they were a little younger…when Vi was newly seeing Caitlyn and Jinx was about to turn 18. The rush of energy flows into Vi’s system with the memories of overzealous efforts on her part to make Caitlyn interested in her, and how hard she tried to lock the high-class girl down exclusively. She took Caitlyn out on dates almost every night, went on walks, talked all night long, and all through this Vi didn’t even realize she was setting aside her relationship with Jinx. At the time, this didn’t seem like a big deal, mainly because Vi never thought Jinx would ever leave…Now though, Vi regrets the methods she took to get what she thought she wanted.

Caitlyn is great, their relationship is wonderful, but something about their union isn’t quite enough for Vi, and she’s finally starting to realize it fully. If she’s honest, Vi has been denying the feeling of emptiness for a while now, but she can’t exactly confront the truth of missing her sister and wanting her back in her life more than wanting her girlfriend around.

Sweat builds on Vi’s brow as she’s reminded of the night of her six month anniversary with Caitlyn, where things really started to unravel for the first time.

Vi unties and re-ties the long piece of fabric over and over again until it looks even more mangled than before, until it finally becomes a wrinkled mess of red and white specks. It isn’t that hard to tie a tie—she’s never had trouble with it before, but she’s never had a six month anniversary before, and she’s definitely more nervous about fucking that up instead.

The sound of the floorboard warping under pressure of footsteps alerts Vi to someone entering the room before a voice says humorlessly, “That looks awful.”

Jinx is unamused, annoyed even, as she leans up against the doorframe. She has her arms crossed over her chest as she stares Vi down with a judgmental look, “Do you need help?”

Vi looks at her through the bathroom mirror and pouts pathetically, “Yes?”

Shaking her head, Jinx steps forward and grabs the tie from Vi’s neck towards herself a little forcefully, making Vi lose her balance a bit. She looks at her younger sister with a question in her grey eyes that she’s too scared to ask, so Vi keeps her mouth shut instead. Jinx roughly ties the ugly tie expertly in record time, better than Vi did the previous dozen times before, and Vi kind of hates her for being so perfect all the time.

“Why are you always so good at everything?”

Jinx shakes her head, her blue eyes sad, “Don’t say that.”

Vi cocks her head to the side, “What’s wrong?”

Still mindlessly messing with the tie, Jinx replies quietly, “You’re always gone.”

Vi sighs carefully, she knew this was coming, although she didn’t think Jinx cared this much. She grabs the nimble hands by the wrist, the skin cold and smooth, and says softly, “I always come back though, don’t I?”

Jinx rolls her eyes, “After a few days, yeah.”

Raising her eyebrows, Vi says, “See? I’m never gone for too long.”

She squeezes Jinx’s wrists softly as she moves to hold her hands instead, and then they’re just standing there holding hands for a moment before Jinx confesses, “I don’t want you to go.”

Vi starts to lose her patience a bit and drops the hold she has on her sister’s hands, “I have to.”

Jinx shrugs dramatically, “You don’t though! You can just reschedule or something.”

Vi warns, “Jinx…”

There’s a small whine to her voice this time, “Please?”

Vi shakes her head and turns to leave the bathroom, “Stop it.”

There’s tension building, now that Vi is trying to physically leave—a desperation that was not there previously but that always kind of lingers between them. It hasn’t been talked about or acted upon, but it’s palpable and present, and it’s getting harder and harder to ignore.

Jinx follows close behind her big sister as Vi makes for the kitchen table to grab her keys, and then she makes one final plea, “Violet—“

Vi stops at the front door, her hand hovering around the doorknob shakily as she calculates her next words carefully. She turns to Jinx, bows her head, then holds out her arms and says, “Come here.”

Jinx hums and subconsciously trails her hands up to the nape of Vi’s neck and curls her fingers into the hair there, which triggers a fire inside Vi’s soul that she didn’t know was there—and then everything kind of falls apart from there.

“You smell so good.”

Vi knows she shouldn’t have said it, she knows the words were too intimate and too suggestive but they slipped out anyway. Before she can take them back or make an excuse for what she actually meant, Jinx is turning her head into Vi’s neck and placing a tentative kiss to the tattooed skin.

"Jinx…” Vi warns her, hoping it’s enough to end the interaction. It’s not.

Jinx hums in response, kisses her again, and again, and then she’s kissing up to Vi’s ear, and all Vi can hear is static. She pulls back a bit to see Jinx’s baby blue eyes blown out with greed, the blackness of them twinkling in the dimness of their small room. Vi glances down at her lips and gets caught doing so, to which Jinx nods and says breathlessly, “Do it.”

They kiss like they’re starving, like they are each other’s first meal in ages, like if they don’t do this, the world will stop spinning. Jinx buries her hands in Vi’s pink hair as if she’s been waiting years to do so—and maybe she has, who knows. The younger girl moans into the kiss, which makes Vi grab her by the waist and hoist her against the wall. The universe slows down for a moment while they savor the taste of one another, but just as Vi goes to run her hands under Jinx’s tank top—the cell phone in Vi’s back pocket starts to ring.

The spell is broken by technology and the unrelenting force of reality, along with the realization that what they’ve just done is abhorrent and wrong. Vi breaks away from Jinx as if she’s on fire, as if she’s harmed her—ashamed by her own truth.

Vi gets home around midnight, headed straight for the shower to wash off the sweat from the desperately needed workout. The hot water drowns out the sound of her overwhelmed heartbeat and the small thump that comes from the living room. Vi is bright, all shiny and new by the time she walks out of the tiny bathroom, where she finds Jinx sitting on her kitchen counter with a judgmental twinkle in her eye.

“This place is a mess, sis.” She nods to the pile of clothes on the couch, the dishes in the sink, and the unmade bed. Vi rolls her eyes as she picks a few articles of clothes out of the clean pile on the cushion, goes back into the bathroom and changes. She re-emerges with more exhaustion than excitement, more discomfort than familiarity, “Why are you here?”

Jinx raises her eyebrows, “I haven’t been home in forever so—I figured why not?”

Vi nods without making eye contact, “Okay.”

She doesn’t react more, doesn’t ask follow up questions, just lets the conversation die the same way Jinx let their relationship die all those years ago. Vi sits on the edge of her bed as she runs her hands through the damp, pink hair on her forehead and sighs, hoping Jinx will just leave. She’s never been so willing to give up a fight though, and Vi knows that.

Jinx hops down from the counter and leans against the small dining table instead, her arms crossed over her chest, “So what? That’s it? Got nothing to say?”

Vi shrugs, feigning indifference, “I guess not.”

Jinx huffs, stomps over to Vi and pushes her burly shoulder, “Hey! I came back to see you!”

Vi snaps at this, her eyes narrowing in with anger, “For me? Why? Why do you suddenly give a shit about me?”

Jinx recoils a bit with a frown, her tone quieter now, “I-I always gave a shit about you.”

Scoffing, Vi replies, “Funny way of showing it—running for the hills the second you get a bit of freedom.”

The tension in the room rises as they argue, the skeletons in their closets starting to come out and play with one another. Jinx shakes her head and scoffs a little, “It wasn't like that, I promise.”

Vi almost shouts back, “So what was it like then?” Jinx recoils once again, but this time Vi doesn’t let her get another word in before she continues on with, “‘Cause to me, you made it crystal clear that you wanted nothing to do with me once you left.”

“I wanted to be with you! I really did but,” Jinx pauses, licks her lips and considers her next words carefully, “I wasn’t your priority anymore.”

Vi rolls her eyes, “Of course you were—you are.”

Jinx scoffs, “Ever since Caitlyn came into the picture I’ve been playing second fiddle, don’t deny it.”

Vi grumbles out of frustration because yeah, sure, maybe it seems like that on the outside, but it was never that way for Vi in her own mind. She had no idea that’s how Jinx saw things, and now her misjudgment has caused a giant rift in their relationship.

Quieter now, Vi responds, “That’s not true.”

Jinx sarcastically smirks while she shakes her head in disbelief, then starts to turn away as she says under her breath, “Okay—whatever.”

Something deep inside Vi overcomes her logical thought process and motor skills as she grabs her sister by the forearm and yanks her backward so they can face each other, bringing Jinx face to face with her intense stare. The younger girl lets out a small gasp of surprise at the sudden movement but doesn’t resist as Vi clenches her jaw, searches those large, shiny blue eyes and pleads for forgiveness the only way she knows how, “Jinx—“

Somehow the simple sound of her name is all it takes for the last barrier of decency to fall between them, as Vi brings Jinx into her chest for a deep kiss. Their lips fit together better than they ever have, better than they fit with anyone else, so much so that Vi can’t even remember kissing another person besides Jinx. Nimble fingers tangle into thick, pink hair and Vi quickly grabs Jinx by the waist, guiding the pair of them to the edge of the bed.

Jinx’s back finds the mattress with an audible thud, Vi climbs semi on top of her and begins kissing down her neck. They’re both breathing heavily as if they’re teenagers again, touching for the very first time. Jinx lightly digs her pink and blue nails into the skin of Vi’s muscular back and the older sister moans into her open mouth, barely audible but definitely there, “Fuck.”

Their legs slot together as they start grinding onto one another, the friction starting to build up in just the right way. Vi’s hand fits almost entirely over Jinx’s ribs and the sight of it makes her so hot it heats up her entire body like a flame.

“You look so good under me.”

Jinx detaches her lips from Vi’s earlobe to whisper back, “I want you so bad Vi.”

Their shared desperation makes the stickiness between Vi’s thighs unbearable, so she makes quick work of her pants and underwear expertly while still engaging in the kiss. She starts playing with a perky nipple to distract the younger girl from the annoying logistics of getting her pants off too, and by the time Jinx is starting to sweat with anticipation, they’re both naked from the waist down.

“Fuck me,” Jinx begs as she hikes her hips up into Vi’s thigh, “Please?”

Vi can’t resist the request even if she wanted to, and she has no intention of letting her sister down. Vi scoots Jinx up toward the head of the bed so they can both fit onto it without falling, and even though their heights don’t match up perfectly, Vi does her best to get the angle right for them. She has Jinx’s legs spread out like a frog while she herself hovers directly on top, and carefully drags her own drenched cunt against her sister’s—nice and slow.

“Oh fuck—“ Vi chokes out as the contact intoxicates her.

Jinx braces her arms on Vi’s shoulders as she moans out in tandem with the pace of their hip movements, “Oh my god that feels so good.”

The feeling is so wet and warm, and absolutely unlike anything Vi has ever experienced before. She can feel her clit pulse against Jinx’s clit like a heartbeat on every drag upward, and the feeling makes Vi’s head spin, “You feel fucking amazing.”

Jinx moans in reply and lets her head fall back onto the mattress as Vi works her hips against Jinx’s cunt, letting their wetness spread against each other and drip onto the sheets. Kind of not making any sense, Vi says in between huffs of labored breathing, “I could fuck you all day baby.”

She’s moving so expertly, so quickly, that her orgasm is building faster than it ever has before. Vi can see her vision start to blur as she watches her arousal spread and mix together with Jinx’s in between their cunts, “I’m gonna come like this—“

Jinx is nodding profusely, kissing at Vi’s forearms to keep her steady and staying as still and stable as she physically can so her sister can use her in the way that makes her feel as good as possible, “Yeah? Show me, show me,” She repeats this over and over until Vi is a blabbing mess, thrusting so fast that both of their thighs are soaked with arousal, their clits barely hitting each other now because Vi’s movements are so erratic. It’s okay though, it’s all she needs to get off as Jinx stares up at her with pleading eyes and tells her, “Come Vi, come for me, just for me.”

Vi nods quickly, squeezing her eyes tightly, "Just for you."

The last thing Vi sees are hooded blue eyes staring up at her before the orgasm washes over her consciousness and transports her into another dimension for a minute or two while she rides it out to the fullest. Jinx is petting her hair, whispering words of encouragement and kissing every part of skin she can reach as Vi gets down from the high she’s on. She takes a few seconds to recover before she travels down to Jinx’s glossy, wet cunt and licks up the mess they made together. Jinx melts into the mattress with a loud moan and buries her hands in Vi’s hair saying, “Fuck yeah.”

Unsurprisingly, it takes almost no time for Jinx to reach her climax with Vi’s tongue sucking on her clit and two thick fingers inside her dripping entrance. Jinx clenches hard around Vi’s fingers as she comes hard, screaming profanities into the fabric of a spare pillow.

It’s all so hot, so wrong but so fucking hot, and Vi can’t believe they did it, but they did.

She’s resting her head on Jinx’s inner thigh as Jinx breathes heavy breaths of air after riding out her orgasm, and Vi says in a scratchy voice, “You’ll stay tonight?”

Jinx is wiping her forehead as she says easily, “Yeah, of course. As long as you fold some of these fucking clothes—it’s stressing me out.”

Vi chuckles, smiles a bit and places soft kisses to the skin of Jinx’s inner thigh, loving the way this feels. They need to talk about a lot of things, of course, but for now, this is just fine
