"Yoichi, come back to me. "

Notes:

Happy new year!

Work Text:

It was silent in their shared apartment, something Isagi wasn't used to due to him being used to Kaiser being loud and obnoxious. The only things that could be heard was the opening of wardrobes and the opening and closing of zippers.

‎"Yoichi! I'm home. " Suddenly, a familiar voice broke the silence in the apartment—it was from Kaiser who just arrived home, holding a bouquet of flowers with a big smile on his face.

‎But he dropped the bouquet once he saw Isagi with his bags on him. The bouquet creating a soft thud as it reached the floor.

‎Thud.

‎"H-huh? Yoichi, where are you going? " Kaiser asked as he tried to go near Isagi, but Isagi took a step back with an unreadable expression. It scared Kaiser because he could normally easily read Isagi's expression.

‎"I know everything. The drunk texts and calls, the hotels—𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜. I've ignored the signs for so long you know? Hoping, wishing that you and him were just friends, but I was wrong—you guys were more than friends. 𝙄𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙙 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙢 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙢𝙚. " Isagi stated, his voice cold and distant, his gaze avoiding Kaiser's as he just couldn't look him in the eye at that moment. How could he do something so unforgivable to him? After everything they've gone through together?

‎Kaiser's face turned white.

‎"I can explain! Please, just give me a chance to explain. " Kaiser pleaded as he tugged on Isagi's sleeve with one hand, he knew what he did was wrong, it felt wrong and was wrong, but what did he do? He did it anyways. After all, he always manages to mess things up, even if it was impossible to.

‎"𝙒𝙖𝙨 𝙄 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝? " Isagi's voice came out broken, the look in his eyes turned from hatred to broken. The same look in his eyes that indicated that he was on the brink of tears.

‎"𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙉𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙙𝙞𝙙𝙣'𝙩? " Isagi asked, clenching his fists while looking straight at Kaiser.

‎"𝙄 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪, 𝙄 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪. 𝙄 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙡𝙚𝙛𝙩 𝙢𝙮 𝙛𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙨, 𝙢𝙮 𝙛𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙮, 𝙢𝙮 𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙩 𝙂𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮. 𝙒𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝? " Isagi exclaimed, anger and sadness mixed in his tone as Kaiser tried to find the words to explain, but what was there to explain? That it was just a misunderstanding? That the hotel rooms he booked were just on accident?

‎"𝙇𝙚𝙩 𝙢𝙚 𝙜𝙤. "

‎Kaiser immediately let go despite not wanting to.

‎"I'm sorry, 𝙆𝙖𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙧. But I just can't take this anymore. Even if you were in a field filled with blue flowers, you'd still try and find a magenta one because it reminds you of Ness. After all—𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙉𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙢𝙚. The one who loved you even when you "accidentally" kissed Ness at a bar right in front of you, the one who stayed right by your side every time you got sick. 𝙄𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙚. But who did you pick? 𝙉𝙚𝙨𝙨, 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙉𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙢𝙚. " Tears were falling down Isagi's cheek as Isagi raises his voice that came out angry but with a hint of misery as he looked straight at Kaiser, looking at him like he was dead to him.

‎And before Kaiser could say another word, Isagi ran out of the door with his bags, slamming the door in the process, something Isagi has never done before, even after arguements. Kaiser didn't chase after him. He was still processing everything that had happened, standing there like an idiot.

‎He lost the best thing that has ever happened to him, the only person who ever loved him for him, the only one who stayed even when he messed up big time—the one who accepted his flaws with open arms and the warmest smile in the world that could easily replace the sun.

‎Then, Kaiser ran out the door and looked for Isagi. He knew where Isagi would be at, it's the place where Isagi would hang out after they have arguements—𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙠 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙠𝙞𝙨𝙨.

‎When he arrived, he saw Isagi, his back facing Kaiser. It was almost like Isagi was anticipating for this to happen. And before Kaiser could even utter an single word to explain, Isagi interrupted him.

‎"𝙄𝙨 𝙝𝙚 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩? "

‎Isagi asked Kaiser as he turned his head around to face his, Isagi's voice had a hint of bitterness that was more bitter than the coffee Isagi always brewed him in the morning because he knew that's how Kaiser liked his coffee.

‎Kaiser hesitated for a second, his mouth opened then closed again as he clenched his fists and locked at the ground. Unable to say anything as his eyes were filled with guilt and hesitation. And that alone was enough for Isagi to know the answer. After all, he knew what the answer would be anyways, and spoiler alert—𝙞𝙩'𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖 𝙣𝙤.

‎"𝙄𝙨 𝙝𝙚 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙? "

‎Isagi asked Kaiser another question, turning his head to look at Kaiser who was having a hard time speaking. He could feel his heart aching as each second  that passed by as Kaiser hasn't said a single word. Isagi could barely breathe at this point, everything hurt inside of him, his heart, his chest, everything. It was like he couldn't breathe but still forced himself to.

‎Then Isagi turned around and started walking towards Kaiser slowly. Each step made Isagi's heart ache even more than the last.

‎When Isagi reached him, he set his hand on Kaiser's cheek. Kaiser's scent entered Isagi's nose, it reminded him of blue roses, the scent that once gave him a sense of belonging and happiness, the scent of the person he once held dear to his heart.

‎Kaiser's head slowly lifted up to meet Isagi's heartbroken gaze that was yet filled with acceptance, accepting the fact that even if Isagi would take a bullet for him, Kaiser would probably be the one holding the gun, killing him just for Ness.

‎"𝙄'𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙮. "

‎Isagi's voice came out broken;tears fell down his cheeks endlessly as he proceeded to walk pass Kaiser, unable to look into his eyes anymore. The same diamond blue eyes that he fell in love with 3 years ago when he was still in Blue Lock and was on the same team with Kaiser.

‎But he stopped after taking a few steps, however, he didn't look back, instead he gripped the straps of his bags tighter.

‎"𝙏𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙚, 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙢𝙚?"

‎"I—"

‎"I did. "

‎"𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙪𝙗𝙩 𝙞𝙩. "

‎Isagi replied coldly as he narrowed his gaze, looking at the midnight sky filled with stars above him. He asked himself where the Kaiser he fell in love with 3 years ago went? Or did that version of Kaiser never exist and it was all his imagination.

‎Isagi knew that Kaiser could ruin him, but he took that risk and still loved him anyways. He didn't want to fix Kaiser, he wanted to love Kaiser for who he was. But it seems like he loved someone who could never love him back, not in a million years.

‎Isagi continued walking away, not looking back. He was now leaving the man he promised to stay with forever even after death, the man he thought he was gonna grow old with.

‎Kaiser stared at Isagi's back until it disappeared, then, he finally dropped to his knees, tears falling down his cheeks as he finally realized the  irreversible damaged he caused Isagi. Regret and despair filled him as he punched the ground, sobbing.

‎Why? Why did he do all of those horrible things? He had Yoichi, he had everything, he was happy with his life, he was basically living the dream—but he still chose Ness and messed everything up. Losing everything—losing Isagi.
