Chapter Text
A nice, blue sky. Birds flying about, clouds moving. In the distance, there’s children laughing and playing. That’s the first thing The White Reaper of an organization called The Port Mafia notices.
“...Where… am I?” He thinks to himself. The world—- for once, seems oddly peaceful. Is he even in Yokohama anymore?
Let’s rewind a bit to give you all context….
The Decay of Angels somehow managed to write in a special object an ability user made many centuries ago called “The Book”. “The Book” basically made whatever you wrote come true, as long as it was in novel form. The White Reaper—- of the orphanage was called in to help with The Port Mafia and The Agency in aiding their help in saving the world; where Dazai, The White Reaper’s former mentor, committed suicide while entrusting him and an agency member who goes by the name of Akutagawa Ryuunosuke the stability of the universe.
Since The White Reaper—Atsushi, is one of the only people in the world that knows about the different dimensions and different universes, he has a duty to fulfill in making sure the world doesn’t collapse and making sure no prying ears hear of such news.
Atsushi ditched The Port Mafia to seek help after Dazai’s suicide at his old orphanage, and he only intervened during times of need. But… Fyodor brought two divine swords, Tsuki-No-Gozen and Ame-No-Gozen, together and created a huge rift in the universe. Timelines got mixed up, planets collided, it was a huge cosmic cataclysm.
But… Atsushi isn’t there. He isn’t in the world–universe where it was getting destroyed. Was God himself giving him a second chance? Perhaps.
Atsushi observes his surroundings, there’s a huge grass field with a children's playground next to it. It seems like he’s in a park, but “where?” is the question. He approaches an elderly woman, one who is observing her child play at the nearby playground and places a friendly smile on his face.
“Hello, ma’am. This may seem odd, but do you know what place this is?” He asks in his sweet tone, giving her enough distance for her to feel comfortable.
She glances up, giving Atsushi a confused expression before answering, “Ah… We are at Yokohama Children's Park…. Are you okay, young man?” She asks, concerned as she lays her fingers over her lap in a sophisticated way.
“So, I am in Yokohama…” He thinks to himself. He snaps out of his thoughts once the lady asks the concerned question, he lets out an awkward laugh, shaking his head, “Ah… No, I’m alright. I just… took a nap and woke up here...” He knew it was a horrible excuse, but he had no reason to open up to an old lady.
He thanks the old lady for her help, bowing slightly as he leaves the park. Fortunately, The Port Mafia made him memorize all the streets and corners, so he knows where he’s at. The best option would be for him to go to the agency. He wouldn’t be a friendly face, sure, but maybe they’d have some answers for him—since they don’t actually harm people.
It takes him awhile till he arrives at the front of the agency, behind a tree because he doesn’t want anyone to notice his appearance right away. In his words, he’s trying to be inconspicuous. Suddenly, he catches a glimpse of someone who looks completely identical to him! He stills, breathing labored as he stares at the person— who is currently feeding stray cats in front of the building. And another very familiar person with brown hair and brown eyes walks out of the building, waving to his doppelganger with a smile that he has never seen before…
He remembers what his former mentor told him…
Different universes. Different timelines. Infinite worlds.
Then— it suddenly dawns on him. This is…
The “original” him. The “original” Atsushi—universe.
This realization alone is enough to make him lightheaded. But now that the puzzle pieces have pieced together, what should his first move be? Should he enter the agency?...
