Chapter Text
Yeonjun had never considered the idea of having others live with him as enticing, finding comfort in his solitude, traveling the world and coming home to his loneliness, he didn’t mind; but in the end, he adapted, for them, and found that he would never go back to how it was before.
But taking in two newly turned vampires had been something that had crossed his morals, and so he found himself training Beomgyu and Kai, teaching them how to hunt, to settle for animal blood, to control themselves around humans. They were both good at it, yet neither of them could ignore the way that Kai had a higher drive for blood and hunting simultaneously, just as he felt disgusted by his new, stronger nature.
Beomgyu, on the other hand, was perhaps just too lazy to hunt, thought the process to be messy, but Yeonjun had seen the brunette drool and run his tongue over his fangs several times after catching a scent that struck him sweet.
And Yeonjun, with more decades—than he’d care to admit—of experience as a vampire, didn’t find the need or the urge for it anymore, used to eating around cyclic schedules.
The baby vampires, however, were a completely different story.
“Hyung!” Kai whined, dragging the last syllable as he walked into the room.
Yeonjun was currently sitting on the living room couch, a book in his hands.
He’s barely lifting his head and humming in response when he sees Kai making his way around the couch and flopping down on his lap, and Yeonjun takes that moment to huff out loud and dramatically.
“Oh, hush! I am not that heavy,” Kai bites back, wiggling in Yeonjun’s lap until he’s comfortable there, and Kai is right, he’s not heavy, and the warmth that you get even from two colder-than-normal bodies is always well received. A feeling he had become fond of since he started having the duo around.
Kai threw his long arms around his neck, dropping a chaste kiss on his cheek, making it as loud as possible, Yeonjun… loved this, even though Beomgyu was definitely needier and more clingy when he wanted to, Kai was just naturally affectionate, wanting hugs, kisses, cuddles and head pats constantly, for no specific reason; while Beomgyu had spikes of needing attention and then having enough of it and Yeonjun had just grown to love every bit of it.
He felt the younger vampire making himself comfortable against his neck. Yeonjun finds it cute when the younger finally settled and sighed hard like the whole process was bothersome to Kai, who decided to sit here instead of anywhere else that he could’ve chosen from the whole room.
“So what are we reading?” Kai says, unhooking an arm to poke at Yeonjun’s hand where he’s now holding the book against Kai’s lap, index finger working as a temporary bookmark, given he can’t hold the book properly.
“Kafka,” Yeonjun answers naturally, and Kai simply nods at that. He totally doesn’t know who Kafka is. “You don’t know who—”
“I do! I do!” The younger whines quickly, tone high and nasal, just like a kid. “He’s the one who wrote that book about waking up and realizing you’re gay.” Yeonjun frowns at that, unable to hold the laughter bubbling from his throat, and it makes him laugh with his whole body, throwing his head back.
“What are you even talking about?” And Kai smiles back up at him, chuckling slightly at his own comment before shrugging his shoulders.
“That’s the impression I got, you know? Like, you wake up, and suddenly you’re a bug to society, can’t have anyone look at you, can’t go anywhere, people think you’re sick… right?” Kai’s got his hand over Yeonjun’s now, idly scratching the back of it with his nails. And Yeonjun just looks at Kai’s hand for a moment, transfixed on the way it moves. He wonders if he and Beomgyu will cut their nails short again, round them, and then paint them with nail polish like they periodically do, or if maybe they’ll start keeping them like his, closer to claws.
Yeonjun forgets they were having a conversation for a split second, and then he snaps from the self-imposed trance when Kai moves closer again, adjusting the grip he has with his arm around Kai’s back and looking away from their hands, humming as if he had been thinking about his comment all along. “I’ll add it to the list of books you and Beom have to read.”
Kai grunts at that. It’s moments like this that remind Yeonjun that—even in normal years and not on vampire count—Kai and Beomgyu are still very young, barely having reached their twenties when they were turned, and it just piles up to their childish nature. A bit spoiled, by Yeonjun of course.
“In a few years, you’ll realize you have more than enough time and start reading for fun. But it’s essential to know the classics.” Kai bites his neck, then, there’s not quite enough pressure on it to break through his skin, but it makes him jolt and hiss at him immediately. “Hey, watch it!”
“Stop sounding like an old person.” He gets, instead of an apology, hearing Kai giggle when he frowns down at him. It doesn’t matter how much they do it; it never stops being mildly annoying.
“Stop using me like a chew toy,” Yeonjun says, getting goosebumps from where Kai is now giving him kitten licks on his neck, like one would once they’re done feeding to help close a biting wound.
“But you let Beomie-hyung do it all the time too…” Kai sighs, sounding perhaps a bit too disappointed, but before Yeonjun adds anything, Kai makes a request. “Read for me?” Yeonjun feels the young vampire nuzzling against his neck, then, on a different spot, at first it’s just his nose pressed against his neck, then his lips; and then rubbing his cheek and all of his face against him. It’s cute, and as much as he wants to deny it, it makes Kai feel more like a puppy.
Yeonjun resumes his reading, going back a page to the start of the chapter to read for his lover, not worrying about enunciating anything in a certain way. His thumb moves up and down on Kai’s side. This keeps the younger’s attention for maybe ten or fifteen minutes before Kai stops looking at the book and turns his face back towards Yeonjun.
Kai bites at his neck again, no fangs this time, letting his teeth drag over the delicate skin of his neck. It makes Yeonjun’s jaw tense as a reflex, and so when he turns the page and continues to read, there’s a bit of strain there.
Yeonjun doesn’t hiss at Kai again, but his breath hitches whenever the other stops licking at his neck to bite again; he doesn’t think the younger is paying any attention to his reading anymore when Kai sighs against his skin, sucking marks on his neck.
There’s a fight or flight instinct ingrained into vampires about not letting others into your personal space, especially when another vampire is at your throat—in ancient, more savage times, vampires would rip each other’s throats out, crush your windpipe kind of thing; and while he wasn’t around the picture in those times, he knows better than to go against survival instincts.
So when he feels Kai going from soft, closed-mouth kisses to widening his jaw, getting ready to bite down on him in earnest, he lets the book fall on Kai’s lap, quickly sliding his hand inside Kai’s mouth—just barely behind the younger's elongated fangs. The image they paint would be hilarious otherwise, as if he were keeping a crocodile’s jaw open.
He hears Kai growl at first, his eyes dark, and then the younger one whines as he still tries to bite into Yeonjun’s hand, but is met back with Yeonjun holding his gaze, daring him, forcing him to submit. “No.”
Kai whines once again, but finally pulls away from his hand and his neck. “But hyung, I’m hungry.”
“You can’t possibly be hungry. I fed you guys less than two weeks ago, and Beomgyu is already getting us more food tonight.” He sees Kai pouting and licking over his fangs, and Yeonjun isn’t sure if Kai is not able to control it out of genuine hunger or just because he’s being a brat. Both are entirely possible.
“But-” Kai starts, and Yeonjun sighs exasperated, hooking his index finger behind the younger’s fang, shaking his head lightly with it, just like a puppy.
“Listen, I know you guys don’t get it because you’re young. But there’s a reason why vampires don’t live in groups, and why others don’t know about us.” Yeonjun softens his tone as he continues. The last thing he wants is for Kai to think he’s done something wrong. “You can’t just constantly drink blood when you’re hungry like you’d grab some cookies as a snack or dessert, that’d leave too much of a mark, even if it’s all animals…” He sees Kai deflate then, melting against him and fangs receding.
“But you’re not food, we wouldn’t eat you… all.” And Yeonjun doesn’t miss the quiet tremble of hesitation, tinted with fear too, in the youngest words all masked as humor behind that little smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes.
“I know,” Yeonjun reassures him anyway, kissing his forehead now that Kai is cuddling him again, “but don’t you think it’s more dangerous? Especially if you say you’re hungry and we’re alone. I can’t have you used to eating whenever you want; you guys insisted we stay here so we can’t draw attention to ourselves.”
Kai sighs again, louder and longer, hugging Yeonjun’s neck tightly and Yeonjun could only hug him back, knowing it was probably annoying to have their bubble of abnormal-normalcy popped, being reminded what type of lifestyle they lived now; Yeonjun held Kai tighter arms sneaking around his middle before swaying him from side to side, shaking all of his body and making the younger laugh.
“Or maybe it’s all a plot because I just want to eat the both of you!” He takes advantage of the momentum, of Kai being lax in his arms, and he turns them around, pinning Kai down on the couch, hearing his squeal of surprise. Yeonjun hears the thud of his book falling to the floor somewhere, but he can’t be bothered, crawling over and starting to pepper kisses all over Kai’s face and then making fake, exaggerated biting and chewing noises as he starts to kiss his neck.
He hears Kai scream and laugh, varying pitches of ear-shattering squeals as he tickles him, careful of his claws not cutting into his clothes. “Nooo, no hyung! Stop. Stop,”
Kai laughs, trying to push Yeonjun’s hands away from where he keeps tickling the young vampire, so Yeonjun grabs both of his hands in one of his with ease, finger running absent-mindedly over one of the veins in Kai’s wrist. He ceases his attack, hearing Kai whine at the verge of crying-laughing, and kisses his neck a few more times before finally kissing his lover properly.
It starts slow, with Kai sinking further into the couch, mewling and letting Yeonjun lead the kiss. He pulls back prematurely only to stare at Kai, relishing the way that the younger follows after him—craving more.
“You’re so beautiful.” It gets the result he wanted, Kai looking away with that rosy tint painting his cheeks, even if it would fade faster than he liked. Yeonjun holds his face again, gently turning his attention back as he leans into another kiss.
Their hands find their way to each other’s bodies, no path or direction to their movements. Kai grips one of his biceps, fondling the muscle.
He can’t help it anymore. Yeonjun moves lower, tracing a map from Kai’s jaw to his neck, inhaling his scent before planting a chaste kiss there.
“Hyung, does my blood smell good?” Kai asks after a while, having had his fill of kissing. Yeonjun noses at his jaw, as if he didn’t know what he smelled like.
“Delicious, just delicious, my darling,” he whispers close to Kai's ear, feeling the younger vampire shivering beneath him.
“Want you to bite me, then.” Yeonjun quickly draws back from where he's hiding, looking straight into his lover's face.
"Are you sure?" It's the first thing he asks, the only thing Yeonjun can think about, the crease of his frown being eased by Kai's thumb.
"I-I want to know what it feels like, want you to feed from me, hyung." His words are spoken so softly, so tenderly that Yeonjun doesn't dare ask a second time.
He moves them around until he's got Kai pinned beneath his body, lying fully on the couch. The image that Kai paints in front of him is totally sinful, with the younger vampire now pulling the collar of his shirt further down, showing the expanse of his porcelain-like skin only tinted in rosy tones where his blush extends. "Relax, darling." Is all the warning he gives as he inches closer.
Kai gasps loudly, sucking in a breath as Yeonjun lowers himself until his closed lips are pressed against the younger's shoulder, leaving a trail of kisses until he finds that pulsing point, pressing his nose and inhaling Kai's scent once more, feeling drunk on it.
Above him, Yeonjun can hear and feel the younger tensing as he darts out his tongue and licks over that spot before kissing his skin again, repeating the actions over and over again, feeling Kai melting under his touch, being rewarded with the sweetest noise, the younger vampire moaning high and whiny in his throat.
"Oh, hyung, please do it already." Kai's tone is extremely needy, only ever hearing his sweet darling sounding so desperate when they're in bed. Yeonjun decides not to delay it any further, opening his mouth and letting his fangs elongate as he starts to sink them into Kai's neck.
The other writhes beneath him, grabbing hard onto his shoulders but making no attempts to push him away, a growl that turns into a whine and that same whining turning into a moan as his saliva starts doing its job, making Kai feel good.
"Delicious," Yeonjun mutters with a lisp, licking over his fangs as he bites his lover's neck once more, drawing more blood and sucking greedily, feeling Kai writhing beneath him. "You're doing so good for me, love; you taste so good."
"Yeah?" Kai asks, distant and mindless—this is where Yeonjun should stop, the taste of Kai's blood is sweet in his mouth, it's more than enough for him to quench that thirst, that desire for it and yet when he draws away from the young vampire's neck he finds himself staring, watching the ever-so-slow trickling of blood, painting Kai's skin red and pink.
Looking at Kai's face doesn't help him to break from the trance; the blonde's eyes half closed and pupils blown, panting as he tries to catch his breath. "You're perfect, my angel of the night."
Kai smiles at him, sweet and beautiful, all his to devour if he so wished to. But Yeonjun's heart only beats for Beomgyu and Kai; it only knows how to love them two, so he leans close to his lover's neck and licks over the open wound, licking it closed, only allowing himself to lap at the skin around, licking any remainders of the sweet blood.
"Did I taste good?" Kai asks, his voice groggy and his words slightly slurred. Yeonjun goes to cradle his face, caressing his cheekbone as he nods.
"Delicious," Yeonjun answers before moving closer again and kissing his lips for the millionth time. Kai gasps, probably catching the taste of his own blood, still lingering in his mouth—the younger whines again, turning his head to deepen their kiss, and Yeonjun can only laugh as he parts his mouth, letting the younger vampire lick into it eagerly.
They lose track of time once they start kissing, feeling the younger threading his fingers through his hair, his short nails scratching softly at the base of his neck. Yeonjun has very few rules in their home, but atop of the list is not having sex in common living areas, yet as Kai throws his legs around his middle and pulls him closer, moaning right next to his ear, he's about ready to break it.
But destiny has a different plan for them, their augmented hearing alerting them of someone walking up the steps to their house. Yeonjun pulls away first from a very reluctant and flushed Kai, who still tries to sneak his hands under Yeonjun's shirt, resulting in the younger having both hands pinned above his head.
“Agh!” They both look towards the door to their swinging open, seeing Beomgyu walking in a moment later, struggling to close the door behind him, sniffing the air. “Are we finally eating Kai?” The other vampire asks with a playful smile.
“Yeah, welcome home," Yeonjun answers with a smile.
“About damn time!” Says Beomgyu, placing down the cooler box momentarily and then throwing both arms up in victory and laughing when Kai says ‘hey’ in fake annoyance. Yeonjun sits up on the couch, still holding Kai’s hands down.
Beomgyu walks towards the couch, getting a quick kiss too, and Yeonjun feels Kai struggle trying to actually throw him down to the floor.
“I want kisses too,” Kai whines, tugging at his hands where they’re held in place.
“You were kissing Yeonjun-hyung before I walked in. I heard you two,” Beomgyu says, sticking his tongue out to Kai.
“Whatever, what did you get for dinner?” Kai says, sitting up at last, he gets a kiss on the cheek from Gyu, who’s already walking towards the small kitchen island carrying their meal.
“Rabbit!” Beomgyu says, smiling proudly. Yeonjun smiles and ruffles Beomgyu’s hair, silky long threads that slide easily through his fingers.
“Bunnies?! I’m not eating a bunny. Hyung! I’m not eating a bunny.” Kai whines, pulling at Yeonjun's shirt and giving him his best puppy eyes.
“You’ve already eaten rabbit before, you don’t even realize because you’re so dumb-” Beomgyu says, standing on the other side, pointing at Kai and calling him a brat.
“At least I’m not the idiot who doesn’t know what he’s being fed.”Kai quips back, raising his voice again, and with Beomgyu doing exactly the same, both look at Yeonjun sporadically trying to make the older take their sides in their pointless argument. "Hyung, hyung! He just called me ugly!"
It's moments like this that make Yeonjun regret taking both of them in, wondering if this is how they got along before they met him, or if he's directly responsible for their attitudes becoming worse, knowing in the end Yeonjun will always cave in to their whims.
