You’ve done this more times than you could count by now. Yet still, every time, they react with such horror. Of course they would, it’s the first time you’ve ever done this.
You’ve seen their expressions over this again and again. Yet still, every time, guilt overwhelms you as you look at them.
You’ve slashed your neck time and time again. Yet still… Nothing. No pain erupts from your skin anymore.
You become weightless. You are a star, living for ages beyond mortal comprehension, yet going out so instantly in a brilliant flash of light.
You defy the rules of death. You defy the Gods’ demand for change. You defy the Universe itself. Yet you still follow where it leads. It is all you can do.
You wish to conform to the rules you are meant to defy. You wish for your soul to be erased once and for all.
Yet you find yourself waking up once again.
Yet you find yourself dying once again.
You stare into the faces of your dearest loved ones, the only that you have ever known. The only that you can remember. You watch their expressions as blood spills from your neck and paints your skin, filling you with a warmth no person will give you.
To Odile, the only one who could see through me.
To Mira, the closest to understanding I have ever felt.
To Bonbon, the one I will always protect.
To Isa, the closest I’ve ever been to love.
To my dearest family, who I owe my entire being to.
With you all, I’ve found more meaning in these last few months than my entire life. I have wished that I could stay with you all until the end of time, to protect you with all of my being.
I know, now, that I could never stay with you beyond this single journey. I am not meant to continue beyond this.
And so, in my final act of love to you all, I will rid myself from your life and free you of the curse I’ve wrought upon you.
I hope that one day, you might be able to forgive me.
