They finally get out of the restaurant after eating together.
“Thanks for the treat, Kaito. It was delicious.”
And that made Kuroba Kaito beamed.
“Really? I'm glad you like it.”
They walked together in comfortable silence. Just winds from the night filled the park that they were walking at the moment. Shinichi looked up at the sky and smiled at how bright it was.
It just reminded how he had met the person beside him, how they had met under the moonlight in both of their alter egos.
“The moon, it's beautiful, isn't it?”
Shinichi hummed at that with a smile. However, when Kaito stopped walking, the detective turned to the magician.
“Kaito?”
“I like you, Shinichi.”
The indigo eyes Shinichi loved so much didn't hide the emotion underneath, both determination and nervousness were present. Shinichi himself was startled at the sudden confession.
He bit his lips.
“Are you an idiot?”
“Eh? What do you mean?”
Shinichi scoffed at the question. Because, wasn't the answer obvious?
“For liking someone like me, are you an idiot?”
He explained without looking up to Kaito. Because if Shinichi had done it, his face would show his true emotions. And, he didn't want that. Because, Kaito deserved so much better. Someone that was bright, happy and not broken like him.
“You know Aoko has always liked you, don’t you?”
There was a hand suddenly cupping his face so he decided to close his eyes.
“Yeah. But I still want to choose you.”
The sentence was too soft and Shinichi felt his heart filled with so much warmth. It almost made him cry. But, he shook his head this time. Holding his wrist, Shinichi stared straight into Kaito's eyes with desperation, so that he would understand why Shinichi wasn't a good match for him. To make him understand that Shinichi wasn't his best choice and his brain probably played a trick on him.
“Why? I don’t even deserve someone so kind and so bright like you. Someone who is so magical and spreads happiness around himself. I… someone like you, I don't deserve it.”
He didn't know when it started but the magician wiped his face suddenly. That made Shinichi realise that he was crying.
“You’re wrong. I’m the one who doesn’t deserve you, Shinichi.”
A pair of warm lips suddenly on his before Shinichi could counter Kaito back.
