Chapter Text
“Bro I’ve been eating the same food everyday, I can’t stand the taste of bread anymore.” Eggchan complained, as he rolled his head back. Wemmbu stood in the corner of Eggchan's library. He had come to visit his trapped friend to tell him about his invisible identity being ruined all thanks to someone who was named after the type of Avian he was. Of course, Egg being the all-knowing end guardian he is, had already heard about this, but Wemmbu still decided to tell him the whole story anyway.
“I guess I understand what you mean, golden carrots get a bit… metallic after too long.” Wemmbu sympathised with his friend. “Bro come on, at least golden carrots have flavour!” Wemmbu couldn’t help but smile at his friend's frustration before the two fell into a brief silence.
“So, are you going to go off and fight Flame now?” Eggchan picked up from what Wemmbu was telling him. “Oh, no, Flame and I actually decided we would be.. I guess, allies, until we can get the Law off our backs. We can’t have a proper fight without them disrupting us anyways.” Wemmbu explained, while turning to glance at the staircase behind him. “Oh I see. So what's the plan after that? Are you going to try to surprise attack him?” Egg asked as he leant forward on his seat. “Well, I don’t really want to fight Flame, he's just really fixed on repairing his reputation of being the best or something weird.” Wemmbu said with boredom creeping into his voice, clearly annoyed by the situation.
“But like, how do you know he won’t try to attack you then?” Wemmbu tilted his head back against the wall he was leaning against. “Maybe he will forget. Amongst all the chaos of fighting the law it’s not impossible. I wouldn’t mind staying neutral with the guy though, he’s a pretty annoying enemy to have if I must say so myself.” Wemmbu could see Eggchan nod from the corner of his eye, but noticed he was now busy with something in his hands. Wemmbu turned his head to see Egg writing in a book, like he was taking notes for a quiz.
“Are you writing down our conversation? You’re not my therapist bro.” Wemmbu said with a smile. “Gotta keep the library of knowledge up to date man, how do you think I keep track of all this information?" Wemmbu shook his head as he smiled to himself. He stood up from his leaning position and grabbed his favourite weapon from his inventory. His mace, Gambit, appeared in his hand like magic as he started lazily swinging it back and forth.
“I’m gonna catch up with Flame, but I’ll be back to visit, as always Egg.” Egg looked up to meet Wemmbu's eyes as he backed away. “Yo don’t forget bro, It's been so boring and lonely here after Minutetech left.” Wemmbu couldn’t help feeling a pang of guilt, leaving his friend here so defenseless. “Yea you got it man, maybe I can even bring you some Chicken to spice up your diet.” Eggs' eyes shimmered with joy as he smiled at Wemmbu's response. “I’ll see you later then!” Egg said with a wave. His head then shimmered before turning back into his eyeball helmet that covered his face.
Wemmbu turned towards the exit as he jumped up the stairs, two at a time before making his way back to the end portal just as he had done many times before. He walked in without a second thought before he appeared back in the stronghold where he had set his spawn.
Wemmbu made his way to the surface and pulled out his comm from his inventory to check his coordinates. As he reached the surface his nose immediately flooded with the smell of the salty water around him. The sun felt warm on his face and it was a big change from the cold air of the end. As soon as his eyes had adjusted to the blinding sun, he hoisted his elytra over his shoulder and lunged forward off the ground.
Wemmbu glided through the air, propelling himself forward with an occasional firework. He couldn’t help but close his eyes as the rest of the world rushed past him. The sky is where he felt the most safe, he felt in control of the world around him. He opened his eyes as he went through his inventory. An image of everything he had seemed to appear in front of him even though nothing was there. “I need to get more strength pots…” he mumbled to himself.
Wemmbu had never had much of a reason to complain about his life, I mean he was literally Wemmbu- how could it get any better? He was known as the best player on unstable after he beat Flamefrags in a fight, he had two of the rarest weapons on unstable, an all-knowing best friend who had an eye for a head, but even with all that, the life he was given bound him to the ground. All he wanted to do was fly but the only way he could do that was with a pair of fake wings and fireworks that had to be constantly restocked and repaired. It wasn’t something that bothered him much, but deep down he had always wished for the life of an Avian.
Wemmbu saw the badlands biome approaching in the distance. He landed on a hill not far from Flames base, switching his elytra for a chestplate like magic. As he walked closer and Flames base came into view, instead of seeing the sad, empty space he was expecting, he saw a minimum of 20 full diamond players, and of course, LettuceK, all fighting someone, which Wemmbu immediately recognised as Flame. LettuceK was the leader of the Law, and it was obvious from his netherite armor he was wearing.
Wemmbu couldn’t help but smile as he noticed Flame was being absolutely swarmed. “Aww, looks like someone needs me!” Wemmbu said to himself, tilting his head slightly. His left hand closed around a strength potion that he pulled from his inventory, and his right hand was already clenching his elytra, ready to equip, as he started running to join the fight.
