So this is going to be an explanation of the omegaverse. Keep in mind as you read this, most of the time everyone’s omega verse is at least a little different. My rules don’t apply to everyone else, and anyone else’s rules don’t apply to me.
If you have read my previous omega verse fic, my rules have changed a little. There’s some things in this that weren’t included in my previous fic, and some things in the previous fic that won’t be in this. There’s fics will be different, so my rules will be different.
Every person has a first and a second gender. The first gender is male, female, or intersex the like real world (Intersex is a real gender. People are BORN intersex. It is not an LGBTQ thing). The second gender is Alpha, beta, and Omega.
Betas- betas are the most common secondary gender. Some betas have looks of instincts that are like and alpha’s or and omega’s, but most are just regular people with a scent gland.
Alphas- alphas are the second most common and the second rarest. Alphas used to be regarded as more dominant, but as time went on and society changed they ended up being whatever. They still have alpha instincts most of the time. Regardless of their first gender, alphas have male reproductive organs. They also have ruts, which I’ll talk about later. Alphas can mate with either omegas or betas, but natural instinct can lean an alpha one way or the other.
Omegas- omegas are the rarest of the secondary genders. In the past, omegas were considered submissive, but like alphas society slowly stopped considering them that. No matter their other gender, all omegas have female reproductive organs. They also have heats, which I’ll get to later. Omegas can mate with either alphas or betas, but their instincts usually make them lean towards alphas.
Heats/ruts: omegas and alphas are pretty similar with how they work, and same with their heats and ruts. They’re are different kinds of heats and ruts. Theirs lustful (which is the usual omegaverse kind), painful (which can happen when either their mate isn’t around or they’re hurt), and then dry (which is usually when they are expecting pups). If either an omega or an alpha is very unhealthy, it can affect their heat/rut cycle. It can stop completely, it can be inconsistent, or just very painful. There is medication to fix that that works pretty quickly.
Ruts and heats can also be induced by being around an omega/alpha in heat/rut, big emotions like sadness, anger, or stress, and finally being able to relax after a long period of time.
Heat/rut suppresses are a thing, but can be harmful. It depends on the type of suppressant and the alpha/omega.
Extras
Nests: nests are when omegas build a pile of soft things like blankets and clothes to make themselves feel safe and comfortable. They can be huge and extremely nest, or small and very messy.
dens: an alpha’s den is more or less their living space. It usually smells a lot like the alpha and sometimes can have a nest like feature depending on the alpha.
presenting: presenting can happen anywhere between the ages of 12-18.
scent glands: scent glands are glands on the necks of people that produce scent. Omega glands smell sweet, alpha glands tend to smell musky, and Betas are a mix of the two. Omegas have additional scent glands on the inner thighs, and alpha have additional scent glands on the wrist.
Mating can only happen during a heat/rut where the alpha/omega/beta bites the scent gland of their partner. Once they break skin they will leave a noticeable mark on the neck. The mating mark will stay as long of the pair stays together.

I have plenty of ideas for the first few chapters, but everything after Nico getting out of the infirmary is still being planned.
