By the time Kira managed to pull away, the damage had been done. Yumeko had slipped her tongue into Kira's mouth and drenched her insides with poison-slick saliva. Kira's hand shook as she touched her lips, eyes wide.
“What did you do?” Kira whispered and Yumeko smiled. The lack of response was what sent Kira spiraling. “What did you do!?” Yumeko giggled as she touched her own lips, eyes fixed on the smudged lipstick on Kira's mouth.
“Poisoned you with a kiss,” She stated it like this was an everyday thing, like this kiss was nothing. But it wasn't nothing. Kira’s nose flared as she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. She looked at Yumeko, eyes darting to the lipstick on Yumeko's mouth and away.
“This isn't happening,” Kira gulped. “This isn't-”
“You have 30 minutes until the poison reaches your bloodstream. Unless you have this,” Kira watched Yumeko dig into her pocket and pull out a red veil. The liquid moved from side to side as Yumeko tilted it between her fingers.
“What is that? Give it to me,” Kira stomped forward and attempted to snatch it but Yumeko moved it away at the last second. She giggled and slipped it back in her pocket.
“The antidote, and I don't think so,” Kira stared at her, shaking, but Yumeko just smiled, softer. She was calm, too calm. “I spent the whole semester playing by your rules, now it's time to play by mine. Follow me,” Spinning on her heel, Yumeko started to walk out of the hallway but Kira hurried after her. She grabbed Yumeko's wrist.
“Give it to me!” Yumeko shook her head.
“If you want it, you'll be doing as I say,” They stared at each other, quiet, until Kira stomped her foot and groaned. Yumeko hid her snicker under her breath and moved. With Kira trailing, Yumeko breezed past the other guests at the party and turned down another hallway, head high. Kira followed, avoiding eye contact while her hands clenched by her sides. The room Yumeko chose was comfortable which made things worse.
A bed in the middle, sheets arranged with flourish. Lit candles lined the walls, creating an atmosphere that screamed danger; thrill. Yumeko giggled and skipped into the room. Kira followed, closing the door behind her.
“Now that we have some privacy,” Kira stepped forward and held her hand out. “Hand it over,” Yumeko glanced at it, before giggling again.
“It won't be that easy, Kira,” Every sound echoed in Kira's head as her fear worsened. Nausea curled low in her stomach and she couldn't tell if that was the poison or genuine anxiety. Her huff felt final.
“I'm going to die,” She smiled but there was no humor behind it. “I'm going to die because you kissed me!” Yumeko's smile returned and she leaned into Kira's space, eyes locked on her lips. She hummed, thoughtful, before licking her own and looking into Kira's wild eyes.
“No you won't,” Yumeko straightened. “Not if you play my game,” Kira watched Yumeko walk over to the bed, running her fingers across the sheets. The bed looked brand new, almost mocking in a way for how inviting it looked. Kira sucked a breath and sighed. There was no other way out of this.
“What game?” The grin that spread on Yumeko's face caused Kira's breath to stutter. If Yumeko weren't so evil, she might've been cute.
Might’ve.
Yumeko broke out into a smile and clapped her hands together, squealing.
“I'm so glad you asked!” She cheered. Kira furrowed her brows before grunting as Yumeko pulled Kira against her. “You’re going to get on the bed, and I’m going to get on top of you,” Kira froze in Yumeko's arms as the bet was unleashed in the room. “We're going to make out.”
“Absolutely not, that's insane.”
“Is it?” Yumeko straightened. “If that's what you wish, then you can die alone in here,” Panic surged, and Kira wanted to stomp her foot on the ground over and over again. It was pathetic, she'd never felt so childish before. Instead, she took a deep breath and exhaled, forcing a smile.
“I'd rather die with you beside me,” The look in Yumeko's eyes hardened with something heated.
“Now you're getting in the mood,” Yumeko grabbed Kira's jacket and ran her hands down Kira's chest to her stomach. Kira stopped breathing and Yumeko took that as a sign to keep going. Each index finger hooked the waistband of Kira's skirt and she pressed further into Kira. They were so close that Yumeko's nose had brushed Kira's. With her heart in her throat, Kira had not moved. Partly because she didn't know what to do, partly because she was afraid of enjoying it. “I bet that I can leave you ruined in the 27 minutes we have left,” Kira's chest rose and fell, shaking with each inhale through her mouth.
“For the antidote?” When Yumeko nodded as confirmation, Kira closed her mouth and lifted her head high. “And if I win?” Yumeko's smile felt mocking in its amusement.
“You won't. But,” She leaned closer, brushing their noses together when she leaned her head on Kira's shoulder. Kira stiffened which encouraged Yumeko to tug her by the waistband again. “If you do, you'll take all of it. Every. Last. Drop,” So enticing. Kira was never afraid of a bet, she was the gambler at their school; ranked number one on the leader board. But this one had her frightened and that's credit to one thing.
Kira couldn't imagine winning.
She always pictured her win, almost like she was viewing her fate. And every time she won, the outcome was exactly how she perceived it. Now? Nothing. No veil, no victory, nothing. That dawning horror fractured her normal confidence into quarters. This bet was against her, 100/1 odds. Yumeko hadn't blinked since she stated the bet. She watched Kira closely, catching every twitch on her face and how her eyes were forced to watch a candle on the wall. That didn't mean Yumeko missed how they shook. With fear? Rage? Lust? When Kira turned her gaze, Yumeko met her eyes. The weight of what was offered forced the room to be quiet.
“Bet,” Yumeko's eyes lit up too fast. That confirmed that Kira had made a mistake. But what choice did she have? It was life or death and this was her only chance at living. She had goals, dreams to rule the school, and if she died at this party her father would never let her live this down. Now, Kira would be lying if she said that she hadn't thought about kissing Yumeko before. Though, the situation was vastly different than this. Her eyes fluttered shut when Yumeko's lips brushed against hers and her next breath hitched. Even with her eyes closed, Kira knew Yumeko was smiling. It didn't take long for Yumeko to kiss her again. It was softer this time, painfully gentle; like Yumeko cared. Kira's hands hovered at her sides before she placed them on Yumeko's hips.
Yumeko raised one hand to Kira's cheek, then the back of her head. She pulled Kira into her and Kira couldn't stop the groan that rose from her throat. Only when Yumeko pulled back did Kira open her eyes. The sight of Yumeko staring at her with half-lidded hungry eyes struck a cord deep in Kira's core. She would soon find out that this was unfiltered, unashamed lust.
They progressed to the bed, with Yumeko on top and Kira pinned by her wrists. Her body was right on top of hers, their chests rubbing together each time Yumeko leaned forward to kiss Kira. The logic in Kira's head that had screamed ‘danger’ early melted like mush. All she could do was feel Yumeko, and she wouldn't want it any other way. Their breaths mingled each time they pulled away for air. With each exhale, the mirror in the corner of the room got a little foggier.
“Yumeko-”
“Shh,” Yumeko pressed a finger to Kira's lips. “Just feel me,” She murmured, eyes low and heated. Kira swallowed but she obeyed and let Yumeko kiss her again. This time, Kira opened her mouth on her own and Yumeko smiled when she felt it. Her tongue slid past her lips and they traded saliva and spit. Kira moaned first, hands clutching Yumeko's ass. When Yumeko had moaned, Kira's whole body shook from restraint. Her body wanted to jerk, to chase friction against Yumeko's thighs but she had to restrain herself.
“Ahh~” Kira bit her lip to stop herself, squeezing her eyes shut. Her face was burning from the blush which just made Yumeko even more reckless. Yumeko rubbed her chest against Kira's and her hands gripped harder on Yumeko's ass. Kira suppressed another moan and grunted instead.
“Oh, you sound so sweet,” The compliment hit harder than it should've. “Just for me,” Yumeko pushed herself up so she was planking over Kira. She looked down at her, watching Kira's face as she fought a war with herself. Yumeko had a guess: conflict. Kira wasn't one to wear her emotions on her sleeve; transparency must've scared her. “I’m not leaving you,” The reassurance caused Kira to peek open her eyes.
“You won't?” Kira felt so high that she didn't realize how meek she sounded. How desperate she looked. But Yumeko didn't tease her. She didn't poke fun or ruin Kira's remaining composure. Instead, she slowly shook her head.
“Never,” Never. One word, but it meant so much. Kira initiated the next kiss, this time with her hands wrapped around Yumeko's torso. She forced Yumeko on top of her, chest to chest, as she deepened the kiss as much as she could. Yumeko squeaked in delight. Amidst their kissing, neither of them heard the door open. When the wood slammed into the walls, they stopped and both snapped their necks to Mary, who stood in the doorframe.
Mary stared back at the two with her jaw on the floor. Her eyebrows were all the way up and not a single noise was made. Time hit pause; everything froze. Yumeko blinked, unfazed, while Kira just stared. Finally, when Mary spoke, it was slow and quiet.
“Wrong room...” She took a step back and analyzed what she was witnessing. Yumeko on top of Kira, Kira’s face an unnaturally dark shade of red, the smeared lipsticks across their faces, and the thin line of space between them.
“We're busy,” Yumeko said with a smile. She talked as if this was normal, like she didn't have the council president groveling beneath her. That reminder almost caused Kira to whine but she resisted only because Mary was still there.
“Clearly,” Mary breathed out. The two stared at Mary, and Mary stared back.
After another moment of silence, Kira growled and shouted, “Get out!” Mary jumped and immediately shut the door. Her footsteps were loud enough to indicate that she was scurrying. When she was gone, Yumeko pushed Kira flat on the bed.
“I wouldn't have minded if she watched,” Kira gulped as Yumeko rested her forehead on hers. “Seeing you like this does things to me, I bet she would've felt the same,” Their next kiss had teeth, mostly by accident. The poison had made Yumeko's next move sloppy and she put more effort into keeping herself upright. Kira watched the best she could, her own vision swirling. Her arms slid off of Yumeko's back and she blinked a few times to stay awake.
“Yumeko,” Yumeko lifted her head from Kira's shoulder and gazed into her eyes. “The veil-” As soon as Yumeko took the veil from her pocket, Kira reached out to take it. However, Yumeko moved it just out of reach. Kira stretched and reached but she was too weak to lunge up and grab it.
“Not yet,” Yumeko set the veil on the nightstand, swallowing a gag down her throat. “I'm still having fun,” Kira's arm fell, defeated, and her eyes watered. A painful feeling stabbed around her stomach and she threw her head back and whimpered. “Hey, you'll be ok,” Yumeko kissed the tip of her nose. “It'll pass, ok?” Yumeko pressed both hands to the side of Kira's face and gently guided Kira's attention back to her. Her eyes opened slowly, and when they found Yumeko's, she nodded.
“Ok,” Yumeko nodded too. She felt sick as well but she had faith in her chances. Kira brought her hand to Yumeko's, which was still holding her face, and leaned on it. Yumeko smiled at the sight before leaning down to kiss Kira's cheek. The longer Yumeko looked at Kira, the more she wanted to rip everything off and just take her. But where would the fun be in that? Kira wasn't conscious enough, that would just be cruel.
The clock kept ticking. Time was running out. They managed to fall back into it but it became harder than before. Pain flamed everywhere and the bubbling in their stomachs made everything ten times harder to comprehend. Yumeko was still over her and she knew that she could hold on for a few minutes. Kira, however, could not. Her face was pale and her body responded in twitches and shakes.
Kira waited, gritting her teeth as another stab targeted her side. Yumeko leaned her forehead on Kira's, exhaling on her face before she kissed her. The tightness in Kira's body relaxed and her hands trembled, weak but determined, as she held Yumeko again. Yumeko set herself on Kira's thigh, straddling it, as she moved to grind. She rubbed on Kira, initially sighing at the relief, before she moved faster. Kira watched the best she could as her vision kept pulsing and fading.
“You have strong legs,” Kira blinked one eye at a time. She tried to gaze at Yumeko but the room around her stretched and thinned.
“...what?” Her voice echoed. Kira slowly reached up and Yumeko took her hand, clutching Kira's to ground her. But Kira was slipping faster than Yumeko expected. She gagged once, and her whole body trembled from it.
“Kira?” Yumeko squeezed Kira's hand once but Kira was unresponsive. She was still awake, but she hadn't had the strength to do anything but lie there. As Yumeko started to lift Kira, she felt her own body tilt with the world around her. Yumeko gasped under her breath and grabbed a fistful of the sheets to ground herself. She turned to the clock on the wall: 25 minutes and 46 seconds after the poison kiss. They didn't have much time.
“This was fun,” Yumeko whispered and smiled as her stomach churned. She collapsed on top of Kira and groaned from the pain. Then, she forced herself up. The veil looked miles away but Yumeko managed to grab it. She took a swig of the antidote and the effects kicked in fast enough for Yumeko to function. Yumeko sat up, breathing deep before she got to work reapplying her lipstick. She pressed a few kisses on Kira's face, making sure to leave about thirteen kiss marks all over in different spots. Yumeko tilted her head, inspecting her work, before she smiled, satisfied. Was she taking advantage of the situation? Yes. Did she regret it? No.
Yumeko hovered the veil over Kira's mouth as she said, “Good. Now,” She patted Kira's pale cheek. “Open up for me,” Kira listened, breathing shallowly as she choked for air. Yumeko poured half the veil into her mouth and waited until Kira swallowed to soften. She hummed, her vision already back to normal. Though, that didn't stop a rough curl of nausea from hooking in her stomach. Kira gasped for breath and Yumeko quickly got off of her to give her space. While Kira sat up, clutching her stomach, Yumeko started heading towards the washroom.
“Wait-” Yumeko paused, and looked over her shoulder. Kira was looking right at her, though she looked like she was struggling to hold her gaze. She swallowed first, before finishing, “I didn't forget who you are,” Yumeko smiled at the attempt to sound powerful. If it wasn't for Yumeko wanting to keep Kira alive for... other reasons, she would've kept the veil to herself.
“You know, Kira, you lost the bet about twenty minutes ago,” The color that had returned to Kira's face drained and she looked away when her cheeks warmed. Kira knew that was true, she was clutching Yumeko harder than she had ever grabbed anything before. And the sounds she made, oh forget it. Yumeko was right.
“So why did you share?”
“You still don't get it, don't you?” Yumeko waited. Maybe for a nod or a knowing look. But, Kira only stared, eyebrows furrowed with confusion. “Hm. Shame,” Yumeko opened the door and stepped out. She didn't spare Kira another glance and smirked. That just meant she'll have to go a step further next time.
“What a shame.”
