Work Text:

Minute was the first one to arrive at the meeting. It has been long since he had exited the end. The anxiety of leaving the end alone was getting to him but he trusted Egg to be fine.

He was gone for a long time after the fight with Flame and thankfully the damage to his base was repairable.

He pulled the chair on the left side. It was decorated with purple cushions on the lightly colored wood and was clearly screaming the End to Minute.

He looked at the other two chairs. One on the opposite side of him had black stone with red cushions. Just like how Clown likes his builds and the clothes he wears, and the nether. Black and red.

The one in between the chairs was a red chair with green cushions. Rather than any hint of the overworld, it looked like Lettuce. The Law. Who called Minute to the meeting in the first place.

Minute let out a huff, leaning closer to the table and onto his hands. His armour shifted slightly as he moved.

“Been a while, Minutetech.”

Clown appeared out of the nether portal with one fully stacked netherite guards trailing behind him. The jester walked closer to the table and took the seat on the right side.

“Wow, is that Lettuce’s chair? Yours look like the End, mind is the Nether but that thing is screaming Christmas to me.”

Clown made a silly comment on Lettuce’s chair in the centre. What an arrogant little man, Minute head Clown whispers underneath his breath. Presenting him instead of the overworld.

Minute held in his laugh but couldn’t retain his smile at the comment. For once him and the nether king had shared the same thought.

Clown and Minute haven’t seen each other since the downfall of the Invisible Mafia. Minute fidgeted with his other hand under the table uncomfortably.

He had seen Ash and Clown talk. The amount of times Minute thought about killing Ash but failed just because of this man’s presence.

“Yeah, been a while.”

Minute responded dryly, eyeing the guard. He would have thought Clown would bring Ferre and Mugm for some kind of protection. but Ferre was nowhere to be seen. It was just Mugm.

It was either he was confident enough to simply handle the current biggest force on the server or he didn’t want him and Ferre fighting in the middle of the meeting. He had seen the two fight, quite entertaining actually.

As if he had read the endermen’s mind, the masked figure spoke again, replying to his thoughts.

“Someone has to watch over the nether while I’m gone, Nether is quite packed with people, quite busy.”

Clown leaned back into the chairs with both of his gloved hands resting on the arm rest. Mugm took a spot on Clown’s left side—between where Lettuce will be sitting and him—with one of his hands resting on the sword and another behind him.

Minute knew Clown had just mocked him. Calling the Nether busy and that the End is not. His tail flicked behind the chair, annoyed.

Clown let out a laugh.

“You haven’t changed.”

Minute’s eyes narrowed. What did he mean by that? Clown let out a chuckle at the reaction.

“I know what you’ve been doing in the End. Saving people from the harm and eliminating the threats. I also know you are a good friend of Wemmbu!”

Minute froze at the last statement. How did this man know about him and Wemmbu? The one who stayed in the Nether all the time got the information? There is no way of ease dropping in the End, he would know if they did!

Clown hummed as he saw the enderman hybrid’s mind reeling.

“I won’t be using this information against you. Think about it as a… thank you.”

The two stared at each other. Minute’s white hollow eyes and Clown’s drawn black eyes.

Clown had no reason to thank him. Why would he—

“You kept Ash alive.” Clown rested his chin on the hand as his elbow pressed down on the arm rest. A small chuckle came after the statement.

Clown didn’t bother explaining what he meant. Minute didn’t bother asking what he meant.

Lettuce appeared a few minutes later. Sitting down the green and red chair with two guards standing on each side behind him. Minute recognized one of them.

Leowook. The leader of BAT.

Leowook was called Swords in the Mafia city. He remembered Spoke being around Leo while infiltrating the mafia. Now with the Law.

Though Leo didn’t bother to look at him, but at Clown with pure anger. Minute could see the tension in the angel hybrid. Minute vaguely remembered Leo talking about him chasing down Clownpierce for many years to kill him.

Must be frustrating not being able to kill the jester that was standing in front of him without his weapon. Clown seemed to pick up on it and let his body gesture become more relaxed, knowing Leo couldn’t do anything about it.

“Apologies for being late, but let's get this meeting started.”

Lettuce smiled, putting his hands together and leaning closer to the table.

“I’m planning to run a server wide election and I’m going to win in it. To be King of the Unstable Universe.”

Clown let out a loud laugh, “Ahahahaha!” He moved his hand as if he was wiping the tears off from his masked face, “I love your confidence! Tell me, where is all the confidence coming from?”

Lettuce’s ears twitched at the jester’s laugh, clearly disturbed at the response but he held in the discomfort and continued on.

“Oh, Clown. I have a very good reason why I have such high confidence. This is an anarchy server. Everyone dies and kills, and what if someone promises a safe place. With a massive army.”

Lettuce’s eyes shined with confidence. Minute already disliked this meeting. This man had too much confidence.

He had already seen what people suffered when there was a single ruler with a massive power. He was strongly opposed to this idea and wanted to go back to the End already.

Clown on the other hand seemed very interested with the idea that he was now leaning forwards to hear him better. The child-like composer made his eyes narrow.

Clown was the right hand man of Ash after all. He took control of the nether when the server was suffering from the Mafia. He took his chance to gain more of his power and Minute doubted that his nature changed within months. He probably saw the chance to take his role in this car hybrid’s ideal.

“Safe? I think our guardian of the End is doing just more than your big Law army.”

Or, Clown wanted to mock him—he was a master-mocker.

“Well, that’s something I wanted  to discuss in the meeting. Minute, the guardian of the End, I want the End dimension in Law custody.”

And Lettuce was very good at hiding his temper.

Minute froze at the sudden offer. He had shared no words in this meeting and yet he was dragged right into it. He shot a look at Clown, he clearly used Minute and the End as a dummy to see Lettuce’s plans.

“Under Law custody? And what are you planning to do with the End?”

Minute crossed his arms, his tail flickering. Clown had his fingers on his chin, quite invested in this meeting now.

“To protect it of course. Just like you are doing now, but we will be more efficient, Minute. The Law has more people!”

Minute stayed silent. The Law was different from the Mafia. As in, the Law had people’s favour, but he wasn’t sure if the group was any better than the thousands of invisible players.

If people wanted the Law in control, Lettuce winning in the election would prove if he was against them, that he was a ‘bad guy’. Minute preferred being liked rather than being hunted down by thousands of players he saw as he had seen in spawn when he left the end. At least they were only diamond players.

Lettuce turned from the enderman, who was already thinking. The cat hybrid had heard of the end guardian before, from many law men who went through the End. Generous, a pacifist, protector. He wouldn’t risk the fight.

“I would protect it of course. It won’t be used to monopolize the resources—Minute sworn Lettuce and Leo both looked at Clown and Mugm for a moment—, of course not! For the server.”

For the server.

Minute was silenced. What was he if he said no? How could he add any more terms to this?

Lettuce knew it. It was practically a guarantee that he will be having the End sooner or later.

“And for the Nether, I would like a deal. . I know we aren’t in the same situation between the Law and the End”

Lettuce’s head tilted slightly, moving his arms wider to emphasize his words. Clown hummed. He had leaned back into his chair while Lettuce was basically telling Minute to get his hands off of the End dimension so the Law can replace the enderman hybrid.

And gain more power.

Clown and Lettuce was similar in many ways, but also different in others. Clown was a dictator, he didn’t care what other people thought about him completely owning the nether dimension’s resources. People entered in and out of the nether anyway, as long as they weren’t a great harm, Clown never bothered to chase them down. Lettuce was was very strict in those scienarios.

The jester was quite generous in some odd ways people couldn’t figure out. Though it didn’t change the fact that he was a cruel man.

Leowook behind him didn’t even like the fact that Lettuce had offered a deal, benefiting both sides unlike the End.

“We will stay out of the Nether and you stay out of the Law’s territory.”

“We are already out of the Law. No fights broke out from both sides. What are the goods in us doing that? We have the netherite, we have the blaze powder for potion materials, we have the ender pearls.”

Clown sounded bored. Minute watched the angel hybrid’s anger grow.

“That’s one thing. Not the entire part of the deal.”

Clown made a little ‘oh ho ho?’ noise at Lettuce’s confidence. The cat hybrid smiled.

“You supply us with the blazerods and the pearls. We’ll take care of Flamefrags for you.”

The nether kind laughed loudly at the statement. Take care of Flamefrags? With who?

Minute knew how strong Flame was. He had fought with him before. Minute, who wasn’t bragging, considered himself as one of the most skilled players in the Unstable SMP, not the strongest of them all, but still strong. Flame, just in skill, no orbitals, no traps, no nothing arguably was top in pvp. How did Lettice speak so confidently?

Unlike Minute’s growing worry, Clown’s interest peaked.

“Deal.”

Clown had said without a second thought. Supplying them with blaze rods wouldn’t be difficult, maybe the ender pearls were but if the Law got hold of the End dimension, that would be fine.

Mugm narrowed his eyes in distrust, whispering ‘…Clown’ but was silenced as the jester raised his left hand right in front of his face.

“Aren’t you interested in how this would turn out Mugm?”

The wither hybrid let out a little huff in disbelief but nodded a few seconds later.

“Perfect!” Lettuce clapped his hands together. “And Minute? Have you set your mind yet?”

Minute sighed. He wasn’t getting out of this one with a good ending for him. Lettuce seemed to know him inside out, knowing how he acted and what his reasoning behind his actions were. Minute’s eyebrow twitched and his tail flickered.

“I will be seeing the election actually happen. And if they do want you as the King and I see it, I’ll give the End to you. Promise that you’ll keep it safe. Do not take control of it for your own good.”

“Of course!”

Lettuce smiled widely, waving his hand immediately to get Leo to pull out two books from his coat. One for Minute and one for Clown.

Clown and Minute opened the book, skimming through the papers. It was exactly the same as what Lettuce had said. As if he knew the conditions on the papers won’t be changing. Minute disliked this so, so much.

They had signed it.

Law’s leader smiled widely when Leo had picked them up again.

“Pleasure doing business with you. And now, I know you two are very busy men, the meeting is now over. You may leave now.”

The cat hybrid exclaimed in joy as he got up from the meeting chair. He placed his right hand on the left chest as the other behind his back. He bowed towards the two leaders of the dimensions–if Minute could even be called a leader.

Minute hurried back to the End, completely ignoring the Law guard that was escorting him and equipping his elytra. Worried about what could have happened to the End while he was gone. Was Egg okay? Hopefully he was. And hopefully Wemmbu is going to wake up from his invisible identity stuff and get some senses back in his head and actually apologize this time.

Clown on the other hand, stayed.

“Now, I’m curious, Lettuce.”

The jester put his hands together, crossing his legs.

“I want to make a secret deal that Minute doesn’t know about. He is too much of a sweetheart for this. Too uptight.”

“Oh?”

Lettuce tilted his head as his hand brushed the top of his chair. Leo raised his eyebrow at the attitude.

“I’ll supply you with netherite in the final battle.”

“What do you mean, final battle?”

Lettuce’s voice was tighter than usual. More restrained than ever, nervous than it should. He was so relaxed during the meeting and so confident that it felt quite off.

“I’m not stupid Lettuce. Wemmbu and Flame are one of the strongest players on the server! You don’t expect they would be easy to take down. Especially not with diamond armour.”

Lettuce tensed up slightly, he had not mentioned Wemmbu at all in the meeting. How did he know about Wemmbu being one of his targets? Sure, it wasn’t too big of a secret, but this was a man who spent most–even all–of his time in the nether. He couldn’t have known this or even be so confident with the information!

“Take the deal Lettuce. I’ll supply the netherite and you give me the best possible ending of all time. Entertain me, cat boy.”

Leo pulled his sword, not even holding back the anger anymore. He was stopped by Lettuce’s hand appearing right in front of him.

“I don’t think there will be a finale. They will fall.”

“We’ll see.”

Clown got up from the chair, making a loud noise as the chair scratched against the floor.

“All I’m asking for is to give me entertainment. Netherite are some rare riches you know. And please, don’t end up like Ash.”

Lettuce sighed. Entertainment. All the jester was asking for. It wasn’t even a risk if there was no finale.

Lettuce and Clown shook hands. The tension remained for a bit as the two power hungry players let go of their hands.

“Can’t wait, Lettuce.”

Clown waved lightly as he disappeared through the portal. Few particles floated around the room before Lettuce had told the guards outside of the room to break the portal.

“Leo, burn Clown’s book.”

Leo grabbed the flint and steel from his inventory, then simply lit the book on fire. He dropped it on the ground as it burned to ashes.

Lettuce clicked his tongue. Clown was an evil man. One of the many he had to take down for the greater good of the server. He wanted to focus on cleaning out the overworld first before taking the work to the next dimension.

He would never make a deal with him. Why would he even do anything with that man?

Minute was a good man. He wanted to keep his words with the enderman hybrid for long. He also fought with Flame by the words of one of his law men, which probably meant he was on his side. Enemy’s enemy is my friend, they say.

But what did Clown mean about the finale?

-

Clown was there when the Mafia fell.

He knew if Wemmbu and Flame were to be taken down, Parrot and Spoke would be involved somehow. It was like that. Those four seemed to be fighting some kind of grand skim together and winning.

BAT already had a bad relationship with Spoke now, Leowook chasing the voiding down like a mad man.

Parrot would probably sign up for the election himself. If the bird wasn’t too stupid, he would see right through Lettuce’s fancy sugar coated words.

It was going to end up exactly like the Mafia.

“Why supply them with netherite Clown? We know we wouldn’t have enough to give out like charity!”

Mugm said on their way back. Many guards bowed their heads down as their king had returned back to the palace.

“Because, I everything has been boring, Mugm. This server is an anarchy server! Not ‘oh election? Kings? Good for the server?’ No! That’s boring! More boring than now! I’m a jester, a clown Mugm! I live for entertainment! I miss having Wemmbu and Zam in the prison. Those two were quite fun.”

Clown spun to face Mugm for the first time since they had left the northern council. Clown has been walking in front of the wither hybrid for the entire time. He took the seat on his throne, crossing his legs with the arms laid on the arm rest.

“I can’t wait for this!”

Clown exclaimed.
