Work Text:

Snoopy was out downtown with Fifi, looking for a place to have their date. Snoopy and Fifi entrusted their children to Belle, who promised to take care of them while they were out. The two went to the cinema. Due to a certain policy, they hid right between Franklin and Marcie in front, and Roy and Peppermint Patty behind.
“Hey, Patricia.” said Roy. “Isn’t this the Funny-looking Kid with the Big Nose?”
“Ah, this is Snoop.” said Peppermint Patty. “Say, what are they doing here?”
“They must be here to see a movie, Sir.” said Marcie.
“I’ll buy you two a ticket.” Roy said.
“Yay!” cheered Snoopy and Fifi.
“Quiet.” said Franklin. “Nobody’s supposed to see you.”
But unbeknownst to any of them, lurking outside of the cinema was a poodle wearing a violet bow in her hair. This dog was a dog Snoopy knew all too well. She was pacing the outside of the cinema, waiting.
“You shouldn’t be out here!” came a voice. “You should be a dog pound.”
The voice belonged to Darcy, who came to see a movie with Marcie, Peppermint Patty, Roy and Franklin. She was waiting for Marty to arrive.

“A dog pound?” the poodle thought. “I know a pound to run.”

Meanwhile, Heather Wold was on her way to the Browns’ house with a hamper. When she arrived, she rang the doorbell.
“Oh. Hi, Heather.” said Charlie Brown.

“Hi, Charlie Brown.” said Heather.
“And I see you have a picnic basket on hand.” Charlie Brown observed.

“Because you and I are going on a picnic today.” Heather said. “It’s a lovely day for a picnic.”
“Don’t mind if I do.” said Charlie Brown.
And so that was what the two teens did. They left the Browns’ place and arrived at the park. Heather lay out the blanket, and they both sat down. Charlie Brown lay out the potato chips, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, thermos of water, and Heather put up the picnic umbrella.
“What more could a round-headed kid ask for?” Charlie Brown said to himself. “In the park by the city, a Little Red-Haired Girl by my side, a poodle eating our chips, sandwiches and….. Poodle eating our chips and sandwiches?!?
And sure enough, there was the very poodle, eating away the chips and sandwiches.
“Clear off!” shouted Charlie Brown.
“It’s not yours!” Heather demanded.
The poodle stopped and looked up at the two teens. One of them looked awfully familiar to her.
“Say,” Charlie Brown said, observing the poodle. “Haven’t I seen this poodle before?”
“I did see her at Snoopy’s wedding a couple of years ago.” Heather added, also observing the poodle.

“Oh, good grief! It’s Genevieve!” Charlie Brown exclaimed.
“Genevieve?” quizzed Heather.
“The very same dog Snoopy almost married years ago.” said Charlie Brown.
“Ah ha!” Genevieve said.
“And now she’s eating our picnic!” said Charlie Brown. “Alright, clear off, Genevieve! Leave our picnic alone!”
“What a disaster!” Heather exclaimed. “Now what are we going to do?”
“We could always go to the mall and have lunch there instead.” suggested Charlie Brown.
When they reached the mall, there, in the food court, were Tommy, Emily and Frieda. Frieda decided to join Tommy and Emily, given she and Tommy had gotten back on good terms shortly before Emily returned, and was now okay with not being Tommy’s girlfriend anymore.
“Hi Charlie. Hi, Heather.” said Tommy.
“Good afternoon, Charles, Heather.” said Emily.
“What’s so good about it?” Heather asked.
“What happened, Cuz?” asked Frieda. “Weren’t you supposed to be out on your picnic?”
“We were,” fumed Heather.
“But that blasted Genevieve ate all our supplies!” added Charlie Brown.
“Genevieve?” quizzed Emily. “Who’s Genevieve?”
“Let us sit down and I will explain.” Charlie Brown said.
So Charlie Brown and Heather sat with Tommy, Frieda and Emily.

“One night,” began Charlie Brown. “while Peppermint Patty’s father was out of town, she asked Snoopy to be her watchdog, but when he ran away, she forced me to be the watchdog.”
“Good grief, Charles!” said Emily. “Why would Patricia want you as her watchdog? You’re not a dog.”
“This was where Snoopy met with a poodle named Genevieve.” Charlie Brown continued. “She was the very poodle Snoopy found and got engaged to.”
“Did you have the wedding, Charlie Brown?” asked Heather.
“We did.” said Charlie Brown. “But this was where the heartbreak began.”
“Good grief, what happened after that, Charlie?” asked Tommy.
“This was the sad point.” said Frieda. “I was told Genevieve ran off with a golden retriever.”
“A golden retriever?!” exclaimed Emily. “Good grief that must’ve been hard for poor Snoopy!”
“It was.” said Charlie Brown. “At least she didn’t end up with Snoopy’s brother Spike.”
“And now, she comes up and eats up our picnic!” cried Heather. “Forget the ants and bears! Watch out for poodles!”
“She must be smarter than the average dog, Charlie and Heather.” said Tommy. “Be lucky she didn’t swipe your pic-a-nic basket.”

Meanwhile, Snoopy and Fifi had finished their movie and were on their way home when suddenly, Genevieve came into view.
“AAAAAUGH!!!!!!!” screamed Snoopy.
Fifi heard Snoopy’s scream and was concerned for her husband.
“Ah ha!” said Genevieve.
Snoopy showed Genevieve Fifi’s ring and confirmed they were married. Genevieve eyed the ring. She then showed off her elegance in hopes for Snoopy to dump Fifi and return to her.
“Nah!” Snoopy scoffed, remembering how Genevieve broke his heart after leaving him at the altar for a golden retriever.
“Aw….” sighed Genevieve.
Snoopy and Fifi gave the traditional sticking out the tongue, telling Genevieve to go away and leave them be.
“Hmph!” scoffed Genevieve as she walked off.
“Phew!” remarked Snoopy.
Fifi hugged Snoopy to make him feel better.
“Ah….” Snoopy sighed.
When Genevieve was well out of the beagles’ sight, she looked back and sniggered deviously to herself.
“You’ll soon be mine again, Snoopy.” smirked Genevieve in her thoughts. “Very soon!”

Genevieve looked around for an ideal place for a wedding. If there was anything that would sink her claws into Snoopy again, it would be another doggy wedding. Suddenly, Genevieve found a bus with a billboard reading “Donnatown, California”.
“Hmm…..” pondered Genevieve.
As the bus stopped, Genevieve walked in snootily. Suddenly, the driver kicked her off the bus.
“No dogs!” he yelled.
“Hmph!” huffed Genevieve.
Genevieve looked at the bus’ bumper and got an idea.
“Unless….” she thought.
Genevieve hopped onto the bus’ bumper and the bus was well one its way.
“Soon, Donnatown.” Genevieve thought. “I should be there soon enough.”
“Ah ha!” said Genevieve.
Genevieve hopped off the bus and looked around for an ideal place where she could take Snoopy where nobody could find them. Suddenly, she saw an abandoned dog pound.
“Ah ha!” thought Genevieve. “This’ll be perfect.”
Genevieve got up to the sign and removed the “Dog Pound” sign from the doorway, so that way nobody would find her nor Snoopy once she had him.
“There. All set.” thought Genevieve.

Later, Snoopy and Fifi had arrived home, with Genevieve still in their mind. Fifi ensured Snoopy was okay. Snoopy reminded Fifi how Genevieve had broken his heart the way she did.
“Aw.” said Fifi.
When Snoopy and Fifi went inside, there were Belle and the pups. Snoopy told Belle all about who they ran into while out.
“AAUGH!” cried Belle.
Belle knew from Spike that Genevieve ran off with a golden retriever.
“Hmm….” pondered Snoopy.
“Huh?” said Fifi, eyeing her husband.
“Uh oh.” said the pups, eyeing their father.
Snoopy nodded, and Fifi feared for her husband. Belle ensured her brother there was nothing to worry about.
Woodstock arrived at the doghouse with Tammy to see what the problem was. Snoopy explained that he encounter his ex-fiancée Genevieve, who wanted him back in her life.
“GRRRRR!!!!!!” Woodstock growled.
Snoopy turned the other way and showed some resentment, hoping Genevieve wasn’t up to something.
“Hmph.” Snoopy said to himself.
Fifi suggested Snoopy be World War I Flying Ace, but Snoopy reminded her that he had defeated the Red Baron already.
“Oh.” Fifi remembered.

Back in Donnatown, Genevieve had finished her trap for Snoopy. She was all ready to get Snoopy back into her life. Genevieve walked towards the bus stop and waited for a bus to Sparkyville to arrive. Unfortunately, none came.
“Hmph!” Genevieve harrumphed.
When a bus to Sparkyville drove by, Genevieve signalled for the bus to stop, but it didn’t.
“AAUGH!” Genevieve growled.
Genevieve pondered and pondered.
“Ah ha!”
Genevieve looked for a train station for a train to take back to Sparkyville.

“Hmm…..” Genevieve pondered again.
Genevieve found a piece of cardboard and wrote “SPARKYVILLE” in giant letters.
“If this won’t get me back to Sparkyville, I don’t know what will.” Genevieve thought as she walked around with the sign in her front paws.
“Sparkyville?” Came a voice.
The voice belonged to a train conductor.
“The next train to Sparkyville…. Follow me.” Said the conductor.
So the conductor lead the way to the train he was conducting, while Genevieve followed.
“Now for my plan.” Thought Genevieve, looking away.
So Genevieve hopped onto the train’s caboose with the conductor and the train was on its way. Genevieve chuckled evilly.
“Normally I don’t allow animals in here, but you looked so persistent.” The conductor said.

Back in Sparkyville, a day later, Charlie Brown was discussing to his friends what happened to his and Heather’s picnic.
“So the dog messed up your picnic?!” Lucy exclaimed.
“I know!” Said Charlie Brown. “What a calamity!”
“And from what I hear,” Heather said. “She was going to marry Snoopy, but ended up with a golden retriever.”
“That’s true.” Said Lucy. “I saw her end up with said dog.”
“And by the sounds of it,” Charlie Brown continued. “She wants Snoopy back in her life.”
“This calls for drastic action.” Said Linus. “We need to hide Snoopy.”
“Good thinking, Little Brother.” Said Lucy. “Alright, everyone! Let’s protect Snoopy!”
“But after school.” Said Sebastian.
“Right now,” said Schroeder. “We focus on class.”
“Which reminds me,” said Peppermint Patty. “I have gym class now.”
“And I have English.” Added Marcie.
“Well, let’s go now.” Said Tommy.
“Protect Snoopy after school.” Spearmint Sammy added.
“I just hope Snoopy stays safe.” Said Charlie Brown.
“Don’t worry, Charlie Brown.” Said Heather as she comforted him. “With the right friends, Snoopy shall remain out of Genevieve’s sight.”
“I don’t like the sound of Genevieve right now.” Said Janice. “Especially given she’d arrived uninvited to Snoopy’s wedding.”

At Sparkyville Train Station later that day, Genevieve stepped out of the train’s caboose, and was ready to take action. She was on the search for Snoopy.
“He must still be at the Round-Headed Kid’s house.” Thought Genevieve, remembering her wedding with Snoopy which she ran out of.
Genevieve ran out of the train station and onto the streets to search for Snoopy. Genevieve came across Clara and a dog who looked like a tall Snoopy, but bigger.
“There he is.” thought Genevieve.
Genevieve ran to Clara’s house and tackled the beagle down. Genevieve eyed the beagle and realised it wasn’t Snoopy at all. It turned out to be Rex, Belle’s son and Snoopy’s nephew.
“Huh?!” Quizzed Genevieve.
Rex explained that even though he looked like Snoopy, he wasn’t. He was Snoopy’s nephew.
“Oh.” Sighed Genevieve.
Genevieve asked Rex where Snoopy could be, but Rex reminded her that it was confidential.
“AAUGH!!!!!” Shouted Genevieve.
Genevieve, furious, left Clara’s house on the search for Snoopy.
“Is that the poodle Uncle Snoopy almost married?” Thought Rex.
As he thought this, Clara arrived home.
“Hey, Rex! I’m home!” Called Clara.
Rex explained in his own gestures that he saw a poodle arrive on their property, wondering where Snoopy was.
“What a silly poodle that is.” giggled Clara.

Over near Charlie Brown’s house, Mary Stewart arrived.
“Snoopy!” Called Mary Stewart. “Oh, Snoopy!”
“Oh?” Said Snoopy.
“It’s okay, Snoopy.” Said Mary Stewart. “I’m your wife’s owner’s best friend.”
“Phew.” Said Snoopy.
“And I know a place where you’ll stay safe until Genevieve leaves town.” Mary Stewart said.
Mary Stewart walked away from the Browns’ house and all the way home. When she got there, there was Matilda, now a year old, walking up to greet her sister.
“Hello, Matilda.” Said Mary Stewart. “This here is Snoopy.”
Matilda walked up to Snoopy and poked his nose. Snoopy giggled at this.
“He’s only here until Genevieve leaves town.” Said Mary Stewart.
Matilda was confused about who Genevieve was.
“It’s a long story, Matilda.” Said Mary Stewart. “Now, I will leave you two to become acquainted while I go and see my Schroeder.”
So Mary Stewart left Snoopy with her sister, and was on her way to Schroeder’s house. Matilda looked at Snoopy and poked his nose again. Snoopy got up on his hind legs and danced his trademark jig.
“Oh?” Said Matilda.
Matilda then followed suit. Soon, she was dancing a jig just like Snoopy.

At the Browns’ place, Charlie Brown and Sally arrived.
“So Genevieve is back again, Big Brother?” Said Sally. “And she wants Snoopy back in her life, even though she ran off with that golden retriever?”
“I know! It’s insane!” Charlie Brown fumed.
Charlie Brown went to Snoopy’s house where Fifi was waiting.
“Is Snoopy home, Fifi?” Asked Charlie Brown.
Fifi shook her head and explained that Mary Stewart came and took him to her place.
“That’s nice of her.” Said Charlie Brown. “That should keep Genevieve out of his fur.”
Fifi nodded.
Heather arrived to check up on Snoopy.
“Is Snoopy still home?” Asked Heather.
Fifi shook her head.
“Mary’s looking after him.” Said Charlie Brown.
“That’s so nice of Mary.” Said Heather. “Looking after your dog for you, Charlie Brown.”
As she said this, Wally walked out of the house.
“What’s dis about Snoopy?” Asked Wally.
“Snoopy’s gone away.” Said Charlie Brown.
“Mary’s looking after him.” Said Heather.
“But how come?” Asked Wally.
“His ex-fiancée Genevieve wants him back in her life, and we’re hiding him until Genevieve leaves.” Explained Heather.
“And after she ruined our picnic yesterday!” Charlie Brown fumed.

Mary Stewart arrived at Schroeder’s house, and was most surprised to see Frieda there.
“Frieda?!” Exclaimed Mary Stewart. “What are you doing here?”
“Who wants to know?” Asked Frieda. “Maybe it’s because I like the music.”
“I for one am keeping Snoopy in my place until Genevieve leaves town.” Said Mary Stewart.
“That’s nice of you, Mary.” Said Frieda.
“After all,” continued Mary Stewart. “I’m sure he and my sister will get along.”
So Mary Stewart sat with Schroeder as he continued to play his piano, while Frieda listened intently.
“So you’re looking after Snoopy, I hear.” Said Schroeder.
“At least until Genevieve can get out of town.” Mary Stewart explained.
As she said this, Lucy and Sebastian came over.
“Lucy? Sebastian?” Quizzed Schroeder.
“Thought we could listen to your music and my Sebastian’s music together.” Said Lucy.
“Well, piano music and guitar music make for a great combination.” Said Frieda.
So Sebastian played his guitar music, and Schroeder played his piano music, while all three girls listened with content.
“Ah, such a fascinating combination.” Said Lucy.
“Who would’ve thought Beethoven music could sound so good with a backing instrument?” Said Mary Stewart.

Genevieve was still searching the neighbourhood for Snoopy when she came heard a combination of piano and guitar music. She followed the music.
“Maybe this is where Snoopy made off?” She thought.
Genevieve arrived in Schroeder’s house and was most surprised to see three girls in there.
“Uh oh, Lucy. Look!” Mary Stewart exclaimed.
Lucy marched her way toward Genevieve.
“You!” Lucy glared. “What are you doing here?”
“I think she’s looking for Snoopy.” Said Schroeder, remembering when Snoopy almost married Genevieve.
“If you’re looking for Snoopy, he’s not here.” Lucy said. “Now scram!”
Genevieve pompously put her nose high up.
“If you don’t leave this house,, I will give you the boot! And I mean literally!” Lucy threatened, eyeing her red heeled boots.
Genevieve refused to leave Schroeder’s place.
“Genevieve, you’d better do as she says.” Said Schroeder. “She has a history of being crabby, even to the nice ones.”
Genevieve didn’t leave.
“Okay. You asked for it!” Said Lucy as she picked up Genevieve, went out of Schroeder’s house, and placed her on her right boot. “Time to give you the boot!”
Lucy sent Genevieve out of Schroeder’s house and went back inside.
“You sure showed her, Lucy.” Said Sebastian.
“I may not have gotten along with Snoopy much,” said Lucy. “But if it’s someone who’s stalking him, I draw the line.”

Genevieve furiously left Schroeder’s place and continued to search for Snoopy.
“I didn’t think he was in there anyway.” Thought Genevieve.
Suddenly, Genevieve came across Peppermint Patty and Marcie. Marcie looked at Genevieve and thought she looked familiar.
“Sir?” Said Marcie. “Is it just me, or is that the dog Snoopy almost married?”
“I believe it is, Marcie.” Said Peppermint Patty. “Heya, Genevieve.”
Genevieve just stood there.
“Hey, Genevieve. I know just the person you can meet.” Said Peppermint Patty. “Come on.”
Peppermint Patty picked up Genevieve and took her over to Charlie Brown’s house.
“Oh, good grief!” Groaned Charlie Brown as Peppermint Patty and Marcie arrived.
“Hiya, Chuck!” Said Peppermint Patty. “I see this dog is looking for Snoopy.”
“You won’t find him here, Genevieve.” Said Charlie Brown.
“He’s with…..” Sally began before Charlie Brown covered her mouth.
“Keep quiet, Sally or you’ll give him away!” Charlie Brown explained.
“Sorry.” Said Sally innocently.
“But where could Snoopy be then?” Wondered Peppermint Patty.
Charlie Brown pondered and pondered.
“I know where Snoopy is.” smirked Charlie Brown deviously.

Peppermint Patty and Marcie were both on their way to a house they thought was familiar. Peppermint Patty knocked on the door. The one who opened it was….
“Heya, Percy!” Said Peppermint Patty. “Brought you a present.”
“You must be Genevieve.” Said Percy. “I remember you from your wedding.”
Genevieve eyed Percy, and then remembered. He was the boy who used to be known as Pig-Pen until he got cleaned.
“AAAUGH!!!!!!!” Screamed Genevieve as she ran off.
“What?” Asked Percy. “I’m all clean again!”

Genevieve wasn’t one to give up. She was still searching for Snoopy when she eyed Violet and Patty Swanson walking together.
“Say, isn’t that the poodle Snoopy almost married?” Asked Patty Swanson. “What’s her name again?”
“Genevieve.” Said Violet. “And from what I heard from Charlie Brown, she’s trying to get Snoopy back in his life."
“She can forget it.” Said Patty Swanson. “After breaking Snoopy’s heart like that.”
“Hey, Genevieve.” Said Violet. “I know a place where Snoopy could be.”
Violet picked up Genevieve and she and Patty Swanson were on their way to a place they knew all too well. When they arrived at the place, Patty Swanson knocked on the door. And the one to open the door was Polly.
“Oh. Hi, Violet. Hi, Patty.” Said Polly.
“Polly. Is this your dog?” Asked Violet.
“You know she isn’t.” Said Polly. “She may look like my former poodles, but I have my Molly.”
“I told you this wouldn’t work.” Said Patty Swanson.
“Then who else would be willing to take a poodle?” Asked Violet. “Oh, I know!”

Patty Swanson and Violet arrived at a house and knocked on the door. Violet knocked on the door and out came Melody-Melody.
“Excuse me.” Said Violet. “Is this your dog?”
“You think I own a dog? Puh-lease!” Scoffed Melody-Melody. “Football is my one and only.”
Melody-Melody slammed the door, while Violet and Patty Swanson scratched their heads.
Violet and Patty Swanson arrived at Lydia’s house and Violet knocked on the door.
“Oh, that must be Genie.” Lydia said as she went to answer the door.
“I don’t think this is going to work.” Patty Swanson warned.
“Oh. You’re not Eugene.” Said Lydia as she answered the door.
“Is this dog yours?” Asked Violet.
“No.” Said Lydia as she closed the door.
“Rats!” Grumbled Violet.
“Well, we’re just going to try the next best thing.” Suggested Patty Swanson. “Now think.”
“I know!” Said Violet.
The two girls and Genevieve arrived at an extravagant mansion. Patty Swanson rang the gate bell.
“Go away. No peasants.” Said Joe Richkid.
“Rats!” Grumbled Violet.
“Well, we are pleasant.” Said Patty Swanson.

“We’ll just have to take this dog to the pound.” Sighed Violet.
Violet and Patty Swanson took Genevieve to the local dog pound.
“Do you think Genevieve would feel right in a pound?” Asked Patty Swanson.
“Anything to stop her from stalking Snoopy.” Said Violet.
Violet and Patty Swanson arrived at Sparkyville Pound and handed Genevieve in.
“We’d like to give up this dog.” Said Violet. “I’m afraid our dear mansion has no place for poodles or peasants.”
“Thank you, Ma’am.” Said the warden.

Violet and Patty Swanson left the pound, hoping taking Genevieve there would stop her from stalking Snoopy.
“Did you really have to fib that you live in a mansion, Violet?” Asked Patty Swanson.
“My daddy works a high-paying job after all.” Said Violet. “At least this pound isn’t anywhere near a mansion run by an evil sea queen.”
The dog warden brought Genevieve, who was quivering, into a doghouse.
“Meet your new friends, Puppy.” Said the warden.
Genevieve looked nervously towards the dogs who were already there.
“Uh oh!” Feared Genevieve.
Violet went over to Schroeder’s place to make her announcement.
“Genevieve is in a pound now.” Said Violet.
“Alright!” Cheered Lucy, Schroeder, Sebastian, Mary Stewart and Frieda.
“Now Snoopy is safe.” Violet continued.
“Well, that settles it.” Sighed Mary Stewart with relief. “Now I can go home and tell Snoopy he’s safe.”
Mary Stewart arrived home and was most surprised to see her sister and Snoopy dancing a jig.
“I can see why Charlie Brown can’t have a normal dog.” Mary Stewart said to herself. “Alright, Snoopy. It’s safe now.”
“Huh?” Said Snoopy.
“Genevieve is in a pound now.” Said Mary Stewart. “Now you can go home.”
“Aw.” Said Matilda.
Snoopy went back to Matilda and gave her a hug.
“Maybe Snoopy can come and visit us some day?” Suggested Mary Stewart.

Snoopy walked home, feeling like he had nothing to worry about. When he arrived home, there were Fifi, Charlie Brown, Sally, Heather, Henry and Wally.
“Hey, Snoopy!” Said Charlie Brown.
“Heard from Violet that Genevieve is in a pound now.” Said Heather. “Now, you are safe from her clutches.”
“Phew.” Remarked Snoopy.
“Yay!” Cheered Fifi as she hugged Snoopy.
“No place like home, huh, Boy?” Asked Charlie Brown.
Snoopy nodded at this remark.
“Thank goodness.” Said Charlie Brown. “We were worried about you.”
But what nobody realised was that in the dog pound, Genevieve was in her doghouse, pacing around, thinking about the next thing to do to get herself back as Snoopy’s fiancée.
“Hmm…..” Pondered Genevieve.
Genevieve continued to think and think until……
“Ah ha!”
But what’s Genevieve’s plan? That’s a whole other story.
