The Sabotastic Adventure Game [fanmade boardgame]

Summary:

In the Sabotastic Adventure Game your goal is to FUCK UP SHIT REAL BIG! Make your way through the game board with your friends, collect tokens to help with the whole rebelling thing, beware of Danger!s and at the end you can try your best to overthrow the World Government.

Notes:

What is this? A second fanmade boardgame I have done. This time for the one cool and amazing sabotageee!

The game system is very simple, but I did my best and threw in a few mechanics to make playing more interesting. That said I have done no playtesting whatsoever so the math of the functions might be a little wonky. Adjust the rules accordingly if you ever end up playing and get frustrated! :^)

Work Text:

The board for the game. There is a path of green circles, yellow warning signs and blue star shapes leading to the World Government symbol. There are Sabo tokens with manga panels of Sabo and friend cards with panels of Koala, Ace, Dragon and Luffy.

Orange Danger! cards with thematic titles and a game penalty.

The Sabotastic Adventure Game Rulebook

In the Sabotastic Adventure Game your goal is to FUCK UP SHIT REAL BIG! Make your way through the game board with your friends, collect tokens to help with the whole rebelling thing, beware of Danger!s and at the end you can try your best to overthrow the World Government.

Basic rules:
- The player who has read the most amount of Sabo fics and is willing to admit it begins.
- Use a D6 to move on your turn.
- Do the stuff you land on.
- Keep in mind the few that control the many can never hold true power without your compliance.

Friend cards:
- Each player can choose a friend for their Sabo at the beginning of the game.
- All the friends have a special talent that can be used once during the game.
- A special talent must be used instead of a normal turn, before rolling any dice.
- For 4+ player games: As long as all the friends get to come, the same friend can be chosen by several players.

KOALA: Move 5 steps and collect any token on the way
ACE: Take 3 tokens
DRAGON: Move another player up to 4 steps
LUFFY: Swap places with another player

Tokens:
- Tokens are any and all tools a rebel might need for their journey. Propaganda, weapons, food, lipstic…
- A token can be found by landing in a token shape, the Lunch Spot, or having a friend help you.
- While any one token can be collected only once by the same player, all players can collect the same token.
- The maximum amount of tokens one player can have is 6.
- Tokens are a surprise tool that will help us later ;)

Danger!s:
- When a player lands in a Danger! shape on the board they will draw a danger card.
- Each card has an annoying or devastating drawback.
- The card can affect either the player drawing it or all the players.
- If the Danger! leads to another Danger!… well, that is just how it be.
- The Danger! only activates for the player whose turn it is.

FALL OF THE WORLD GOVERNMENT!
- At the end of the game there is a Lunch Spot before the last steps to the Final Face Off.
- Everyone must stop to have lunch. Even if you are one step away from lunch and roll a 6, you have to stop for lunch.
- The cool thing is you get one token each time you land in the final lunch spot, up to 6 tokens.
- After lunch the players make their way to the Final Face Off. You need not have an even roll to get there. But you have to get there.
- At the Final Face Off your Sabo fights the World Government with whatever resources he has gathered on the way. The player rolls the D6 and adds to that number the amount of tokens they have gathered. 10 or more will mean the World Government falls! Woo! Victory!
- …and if the player loses the fight, they return to the Final Lunch Spot to rest for a turn and gain another token before they can try again.
- The first Sabo to make revolution reality wins!

Additional notes:

- I'd say 2-6 players is the best amount, but why not try it on your own too. You are of course guaranteed to win, but you can make a little story of what kind of cards you get on the way there. Write a fic of your adventure. Have fun, discard conventionality and all that.
- Variations encouraged! Invent more cards. Make your own rules. Draw cute backsides for the cards. Print the cards on patterned paper, or decorate a box or a folder to keep all the materials. This is a fanwork, let's celebrate that!
- IRL option: Print the relevant material. Cut the cards and tokens apart, you know how it goes. For more durability you can consider laminating the material, or whatever other option works for you.
- Online option: Summon the group chat into a video call, share the board on your screen or in a program where everyone can view it real time. Mark your place on the board with a color or a shape you draw and then erase as you move on the board. Use a random number generator to draw cards.
