Chapter 1: Tomura: Floating Weightless

Chapter Text

“To me, now!”

Tomura Shigaraki stepped forward, heeding his master’s command. If the vestiges of his family thought that their pitiful attempt at restraining him was going to stop him from pushing forward, then they were mistaken.

Then he heard Spinner sobbing.

He didn’t know how he could hear it, but he knew those sobs. He had heard them once when a late night playthrough of “Book of the Boonies” turned into an accidental trauma dump on Spinner’s end. Tomura hated the sound then, hell he’d spent an hour comforting Spinner to dry his tears and stop the noise that was somehow able to rip his heart out like no other, and he hated it now. It had to be stopped. Spinner had to be soothed.

He tried rushing forward, tried decaying his family’s vestiges, but it was as if they only now finally had the courage to face him head on, deadly quirk and all. Of course, they would only gain that courage now that they had no stakes in his life.

"Listen, if you guys aren't gonna let me go back to reality via master, then you're gonna have to show me another option. Because I absolutely refuse to leave my friend all alone to cry over me."

Suddenly, like a car quickly shifting gears, the hands that were once pushing and pulling him backwards were instead repositioning and lifting him upwards, towards Spinner's wailing. However, no matter how well they tried to form a pyramid to push him up, there was no way he was going to reach the real world at this rate. He was about to bite the bullet and ask his deadbeat grandma to just airlift him out with her quirk when-

"No! Stay back there!" All for One roared.

Tomura turned to see... himself? A vestige that looked way too similar to how he had looked at age five had apparently dodged his master's grasp and was currently running straight towards him. The "Tenko" vestige climbed up his father's body -kicking his face on the way up- and once he had found decent purchase, jumped up.

"Oh he's not gonna make-" Bwip! and a flat ring appeared from underneath the boy to propel him further upwards. Tenko reached out, Tomura reached back, and when their hands met the younger vestige dissolved into light and was absorbed into the older vestige...

And Tomura was abruptly launched like a rocket towards the skies of his own consciousness.

It took a moment to gather his bearings as he kept floating upwards, and he could hear his master howling like a madman, but he chose not to look down and instead focused on his grandmother's vestige, who was (very badly) attempting to give pointers on his quirk.

His original quirk? At this point he wouldn't put it past his master to pull such a stunt, he could be an incredibly petty and manipulative bitch when he wanted to be, but he could contemplate the possibility later.

He had someone more important to return to.
