Chapter Text
Erik had texted her that he was going to be late for their meet up with Steve, which was fine. She didn’t mind spending some time alone with the only other person in existence that kind of understood what she had been through. Different circumstances, but same results. Being unthawed in a different century than either of them knew. Steve at least had 30 years more historical knowledge than her though. As he went into the ice after her.
Not that it really mattered. It had still bonded them in a unique way, even if he was a superhero and she was just Jess, the girl found frozen in the Titanic. That bond though, was why she and Erik wanted to meet up with him today.
They were meeting up at a little cafe that had an outdoor seating. Steve was already there and seated outside when she arrived. They greeted each other and she explained that Erik was going to be late. From there they moved on to catching up with each other with how busy both their lives had gotten, in very different ways from each other.
"Capsicle! Fancy meeting you here. Who’s your lady friend? Someone special?" A dark haired man said, waggling his eyebrows at the end, leaning against the rail that surrounded the dining area by their table. She assessed him carefully, trying to decide if he was a threat.
"Jessica Hudson," she said coolly.
"Ah! Capsicle's older female precursor," the man practically proclaimed.
"Tony, I wouldn’t bate her…" Steve warned.
"And who are you?" Jess said just as coolly as before.
"You don’t know who I am?" Tony blinked owlishly at her. She didn’t, but the fact that Steve had called him Tony told her enough.
"No, should I?" she asked.
"I’m only everywhere; on tv, in the news, in magazines..." Tony listed on his fingers trailing off.
"I very rarely watch tv, the news, or look at magazines; but I can guess who you are by what Steve's told me about you."
"Uh oh, do tell me. What does old Stevey boy say about me?"
"Oh he's very diplomatic when he speaks about you, even when he's frustrated with your ego. Me though, well I can make my own inferences about you from what Steve says and doesn't say. You are what I believe is called a manwhore and womanizer in today's world. A rake and dandy of the worst kind. A wisenhiem. An asshole who thinks he's God's gift to man because he has half a brain and thinks the rest of us aren't much smarter than a bag of rocks unless they can keep up with your science jargon, even though intelligence comes in many forms."
She left him gaping like a fish after her little run down of him. Steve was looking rather amused at Tony's reaction.
"But— but- you're supposed to be some young lady from 1912."
She scoffed at him. She had been the furthest thing from a proper lady in 1912.
"I think that you forget that I was no young lady. I was a sailor; a boy in many people's eyes, before becoming an early version of a 'capsicle'. I would have been eaten alive and found out quickly if I had been the demure young lady that you're thinking I would be. I sailed for years and only know of two people that figured me out as not being a boy. John Winters, who kept my secret until his death, and Ryan O'Donald who essentially murdered me."
"She's got you there," Steve said, crossing his arms.
"Pah," Tony waved Steve off. "Well Elsa, you seem to have more spit and fire than Capsicle here, you might've even given Aunt Peggy a run for her money, for an ice princess."
She was ready to claw his face off, if Erik hadn’t slid into the chair beside her and hooked his arm around hers.
"Aha, I see we've met Mr. Stark..... always a pleasure Tony....." said Erik.
"Piston," Tony said with a nod towards him.
"Would you like me to give your regards to my sister?" Erik asked.
"Isn't she married?" Tony asked.
"And divorced," said Erik.
Tony narrowed his eyes. "You wouldn't dare."
"Try me,"
"Welp-" Tony pushed off from where he had been standing. "I better get going before Happy and Pepper send out the calvary for me."
All three of them watched as Tony left as quickly as he could without the Ironman suit.
"Impressive Erik, do you think that threatening with your sister might work in other situations?" Steve asked.
"You could try, but probably not."
"Em, do you often use your sister as a threat?" she asked amused.
"No, just against Tony. The joys of growing up in some of the same circles as him. Alexa's been trying to start something with him for years. But that’s not what we’re here for anyway."
