Chapter Text
Yuu was hanging out with Ace and Deuce when a familiar, ominous voice echoed down the hallway.
“Prefect! The Headmage requests your presence!”
Yuu froze.
Ace slowly turned to him. “Again? What could he possibly want now?”
“I have no clue,” Yuu muttered, already sounding tired.
Deuce perked up. “Maybe it’s about the film festival?”
Yuu blinked. “The what?”
Ace stared at him. “You don’t know? Every year all the magic schools compete in this huge film festival.”
“There’s a massive prize,” Deuce added eagerly. “And the winning film gets professionally published!”
Yuu stared. “Published as in… everyone can watch it?”
“Exactly!” Ace grinned. “It’s a huge deal. Bragging rights for a whole year.”
“And Crowley never forgets to mention the prize money,” Deuce said knowingly.
Yuu narrowed his eyes. “So why do I have the distinct feeling this involves me.”
Ace and Deuce exchanged a look.
“…Because it probably does,” Deuce admitted.
“Hey!” The voice called again, louder this time.
Yuu sighed. “If I’m not back in twenty minutes, assume I’ve been assigned something unreasonable.”
“That’s… very likely,” Ace said.
———— In the Headmage’s Office —————
“Ah! Prefect!” Crowley spread his arms wide as Yuu entered. “How punctual! How dependable! Truly, the backbone of Night Raven College!”
Yuu did not look impressed. “What do you want?”
Crowley gasped theatrically. “Such suspicion! I merely have a tiny, minuscule, microscopic favor.”
“That’s worse.”
“As you may know, the prestigious Inter-Scholastic Film Festival is approaching!” Crowley declared. “And this year, I have decided that you shall direct one of Night Raven College’s entries!”
“…I’m sorry,” Yuu said flatly. “You want me to what.”
“Direct! Produce! Inspire!” Crowley clasped his hands. “Be the visionary behind the lens!”
“I have never directed anything.”
“All the more reason to try!”
“That’s not how that works.”
“The Film Club is handling the other entry,” Crowley continued smoothly. “But I wanted something bold. Something unexpected.”
“You mean chaotic.”
“I mean innovative!”
Yuu squinted. “And the prize?”
“Substantial,” Crowley replied immediately.
“There it is.”
Crowley beamed behind his mask. “I have complete faith in you. You’ve handled our dorm leaders before.”
“That was survival,” Yuu corrected.
“Details.”
Yuu rubbed his temples. “Fine. What’s the theme?”
Crowley’s voice rang dramatically through the office. “Sin!”
Silence.
“…You’re kidding.”
“I never kid about prestige,” Crowley replied proudly.
Yuu sighed deeply. “…Great.”
