Work Text:
When Carl and Sandra learned Ben’s secret they had been livid, but even more so they had been terrified. Terrified their baby boy had been recklessly putting himself in danger without caring about the consequences.
After their initial reaction though they had seen the values their son went by, the way he did it to protect others, the way he was truly a hero.
They still didn’t like it, who would like not knowing if your child will return home each night, but they were proud, so very proud of him.
All that is to say, they thought they were done with Ben’s secrets, at least the major life ones.
Right now they were unlocking the front door, arms full with bags after a long grocery run. When they stepped inside and headed to the kitchen through the living room they froze. On the couch were Ben and Kevin sleeping.
Kevin was laying on his back, his head resting on a throw pillow while Ben was laying on top of him on his stomach, hand resting on Kevin’s chest and head in the crook of his neck. Kevin’s right arm was on Ben’s back and his left dangling off the couch touching the floor.
They looked so peaceful, like they hadn’t a care in the world.
After they had stared at them for a long minute, or five, they silently made their way to the kitchen. Judging by the boys’ eye bags they needed the sleep.
Safely in the other room they shared a look and smiled. Well, it looks like they are not done with secrets after all…
