Work Text:

Another joyful shout echoed through the halls of Minas Tirth and Arwen smiled to herself. A city of men was louder in ways she had never thought to consider. Not only were men generally louder in their speaking and the stone walls bounced the sound much further than the trees of Rivendell, but children were extra loud.

Something she quietly loved and Aragorn encouraged. It was good for him. She remembered him being shunned for his own noise at the age their firstborn was now. Little Estel had learned fast to move quietly and speak in soft tones. By the time he had reached his tenth summer he fit in with the elves more than the young boys of the Dundedain.

But now the teaching had fallen away.

She looked up as she heard faint footfalls labs just inside her window. Maybe not. "Have they exhausted themselves?"

Aragorn grinned and flicked his hair back from his eyes. He hadn't bothered to braid it today. "The twins are helping him look for me so I thought I'd give them a challenge."

"And you came here?" She thought their own chambers would be an obvious place to look.

He shrugged. "I'm sure the twins know where I am, but it's much harder to climb the walls with a five year old and you know how he is about walking on his own without help right now."

Arwen laughed. "Yes, I do. Well then you and I will just have to find something to do to pass the time." She set down her book and picked up her hairbrush. "Braid my hair?"

"Always, my lady."

Notes:

It has been so long since I wrote LOTR. But this was my first fandom, and the first I ever wrote fic for, so it holds a special place in my heart.
