I cried an ungodly amount of tears to this. I related to Butters and Kenny so much it actually hurts. My eyes are stinging from crying. I have been dealing with similar stuff like Butters' parents and my family is also like Kenny's where especially the oldest child is expected to be the third parent if not the only one for their siblings. We are low income too as much as my mom won't admit it when it's convenient.
This ship is really my comfort ship. It makes me feel like I have a chance. It feels like parts of me and my life being represented so close to home, giving me words for feelings I couldn't describe, shown so perfectly in this particular fic. Even down to Butters being genderfluid and the exact news channel my parents watch. My dad said that same quote in chapter 13 two months ago. I pray Butters won't be outed like I was to a homophobic family. I hope I can stay closeted with my gender identity till I have a way out like Butters too.
