Chapter Text
"Did you ever… fuck him?"
Leon couldn't look at Ada while he asked her. He sat across her in a private corner of the restaurant. Ada Wong had been Wesker's Personal Assistant before him and shown him the ropes as he took the position over.
"That information is none of your business — unless you give me a good reason why it should be," she answered quietly, taking a sip from her tea. She looked stunning and put together, as she always did, and her well trained pokerface stayed firmly in place — the ideal image of a woman who had everything perfectly under control.
"Is that a yes?" he tried again, watching her face closely, trying to notice any changes.
"You should never play poker. Your bluffing is horrible," Ada answered and promptly turned his strategy against him. "Are you fucking him?" she asked back and he cursed himself for feeling the heat rise up to his cheeks.
"No, I am not," he answered and he didn't even lie. He didn't do anything with his boss... yet.
"But you want to?" she asked further.
His cheeks got even hotter and a knowing little smile appeared on her face.
"Don't worry, I won't tell on you, puppy." She leaned in a little closer. "Look at you having a crush on your boss."
Of course she wouldn't miss the opportunity to tease him with it. They had only worked together for two weeks, but Ada had actually become a good friend in the time that followed. Leon could tell she was entertained seeing someone going through the same process as she had in the beginning of her career. But she was kind enough to always offer some help.
"I can say a little something here and there makes handling him a lot easier."
Leon wanted to ask something but his mouth wasn't working. Imagining her and Wesker together actually got to him far more than he would've liked to admit. He took a sip of his drink because his mouth was suddenly dryer than Death Valley.
This piece of information also showed him how much Ada cared. When he first started with the job, he would've never imagined himself getting along so well with her. Ada had been efficient and precise in everything she did. She also didn't share information she didn't have to.
"Alright, we have one week to get you up to speed."
His new boss was on a business trip and so his current assistant Ada Wong took it upon herself to supervise Leon's first steps in the new environment.
"Take this." She handed him a tablet with the firm's logo. "Here you can find his schedule with added notes, what steps to prepare beforehand." She tapped on the display. "The Daily at 6am is extremely important to him. It is up to you to go through the different sources of information and compile the most important bits in advance. I usually did this in the morning right before the meeting."
He took a closer look at the information on the display.
"The meeting location... is this is private address?"
"No, he will listen to the information while he is exercising. He will be multitasking a lot, so you better get used to it."
"I mean, naturally. He is very busy."
"Busy is the nice word for it — workaholic is the more accurate description."
Leon would've never said that, but yes it was pretty much the vibe his new boss gave off in all the pictures. Albert Wesker, Lead Research Officer of one of the most prestigious pharmaceutical companies, always looked like someone who lived for his work — tall, sharp, imposing and slightly constipated.
The Daily had become his personal torment.
He didn't mind getting up early and preparing the information. But Albert Wesker turned out to be way more attractive in person than any picture could've prepared him for.
Even though he was only 10cm taller than Leon, his presence instantly filled any room he entered. Wesker seemed to tower over him and his eyes were always aware of his surroundings. As soon as Leon entered his office they would bore into him. He felt like he was swimming with a shark every time he went in.
The fact Leon was attracted to his boss made led right to the second problem with the Daily: hearing Wesker's voice while exercising was borderline obscene. Not only hat the man a voice that cut right into Leon's core, but it was also the heavy breathing getting to him. Without any visuals it was unfortunately easy to imagine him in other situation sounding exactly like that. He noticed himself getting distracted by it and his thought wandering.
Which was a problem on it's own because he had no time for dreaming about his boss.
It ultimately led to the current situation Leon found himself in: Standing in front of Wesker's desk, the man's eyes trained on him once again.
"Let me get this straight: You want to do the Daily in person?"
"Yes, sir, I think it is beneficial for both parties to do it this way and we might even be more efficient in the end."
There was a short pause where Wesker stared directly into his soul before a sly grin appeared on his face.
"Well, interesting thinking. I'm intrigued by your idea. Physical exercise in a group setting has been proven to have several beneficial effects, so let's try it out."
"Thank you sir."
"I hope you can keep up though," Wesker added and the slight cockiness in his voice made Leon's cheeks burn. But Leon was pretty confident when it came to his physical fitness
"Uhm, I wouldn't worry about that. I'm quite adaptive, sir." He shot a grin back and then hurried out of the office.
It was very much possible that he just dug his grave deeper.
