Lost Alpha & Devoted Raven

Summary:

It had been 2 painstakingly long years.

And not the fun vacation that she had originally thought it would be upon leaving Nevermore.

Wednesday continues her driven search to find Enid, having given her word & unwilling to break their promise, but she's still uncertain as to who will return to her side; the bright blue eyed best friend, the beast that may have consumed her or the one her own curses are yearning for?

If Enid was indeed a mindless savage alpha, how far would Wednesday go to get the girl she had lost back, the only one that had left a permanent mark? Just how much torture would she willingly endure to see Enid's gentle smile at her again?

The answer was blatantly obvious- anything and everything, but only for Enid Sinclair.

Chapter 1: A Raven's Desperate Search

Summary:

Hey!

If you're reading this I'm glad, if you skip straight to the chapter I won't judge because I sometimes do too :)

So, this is my first time attempting this. I'm not ashamed to admit it's taken hours just to set up the details of the story to be able to post -_-

I started writing this back when Season 2 aired, so last year, and literally became obsessed with Wednesday & Enid and Jenna & Emma themselves so I thought if I wrote a story about them they'd stop plaguing my mind, social media & time so I can get my life back instead of living in a fantasy!

Anyway, I'm pretty much bad at everything so without further ado, I hope I do Wenclair some justice, enjoy!

Chapter Text

“The truth is…” A long pause, hesitant eyes meeting unblinking. “You are my pack, Wednesday.”

Wednesday Addams lurched forward from her sleeping position with a choked inhaled gasp, arms that were crossed over her chest coffin style shooting forwards. Her left moved to clutch the black pj button shirt on her chest and her right hung outstretched, hand fisting nothing.

“Enid!” She choked out the name, wide dark brown eyes staring at the small empty room she was currently staying in.

The girl sat there for a minute, her chest heaving in and out as she sucked in air, eyes snapping around to take in every angle of the basic motel room in vain scrutiny. The silence in it only added to the fact she was indeed, alone.

Wednesday looked at the single old metal frame bed she sat up on, towards the worn brown wooden desk opposite her, then over to the closed door leading to the bathroom on the right in the dark room. The only light was feeding through the thin curtains coming from the full moon bleeding in to highlight the mundane striped wallpaper and shadows of the furniture.

Eyes moved towards her right hand, looking at it trembling with strained white knuckles before travelling to her wrist, staring at the black & grey bowtie double wrapped around it, her dark onyx gaze unblinking, but softening slightly.

Enid’s bowtie.

The grip on her shirt loosened, her left hand moving to instead caress the hanging ends with a gentle touch, bringing both her arms back to her chest and cradling them there. Wednesday's shoulders dropped and her head hung down, the tips of her braids tickling her arms, taking steady deep breaths in and out. She closed her eyes, trying to regain some semblance of calm and her composure.

She heard scuffling noises of moving to her left, but didn’t look up or move when the lamp next to her turned on, even as she felt an urgent tap on the blanket by her left thigh.

“I am perfectly fine, Thing.” She spoke, refusing to look up and meet the hand's insistent tapping of worry. “Enough.” She coldly snapped at him, the tapping having turned into forceful slaps, adding to her irritation.

Thing stopped his movements, staying still on his fingers before his index finger anxiously scratched at the scratchy material of the blanket under him giving away his concern for her.

The dark haired girl took one last breath in before lifting her head up to look at him, her expression blank as she let her hands rest on her lap. “What time is it?” She asked him.

Thing reared up on the heel of his palm slightly, holding up his index finger and tapping 10 times in signal, before dropping back to all his fingers.

“We must prepare to leave,” She spoke, pushing the blanket off and swinging her legs to the side of the bed, feet planted on the carpet. “Go rouse Uncle Fester.” She ordered, standing up as her black pj bottom pants unbunched back down her ankles from her nightmare induced movements.

Thing double tapped before dropping off the bed and scurrying away out of view set on his task, leaving Wednesday fully alone to herself this time, but only now being alone in full solitude left an unsettlingly hollow feeling in her soul.

Wednesday approached her black duffle bag sitting on the chair by the desk, eyes momentarily looking at the folding whiteboard on it with all her tracking information on the blonde haired werewolves every movement, filled with locations and black strings attached since the night she had dug her out of her early grave and disappeared.

There was no luck with her seer’s ability at any of Enid’s belongings; no visions came forth whenever she touched any of the pictures of her, even when she consistently thought of the girl, simply nothing no matter how much she tried to make it easier to find her through other methods than her raven abilities.

Something in Wednesday’s chest clenched as her eyes landed on the most recent blurry picture of Enid’s retreating form fleeing into some unknown area of woods, the corners of her lips dropping barely and her brows pinching somewhat as her fingers hovered over it.

“I will hunt you down, Enid.”

The night seemed extra dark in the woods being currently explored, the only light from the beaming full moon in the clear sky above shining down. It highlighted the tree line, but cast dark shadows on the floor's already barely visible surface.

Wednesday scoured the woods with Thing perched on her left shoulder and Fester a few steps behind, her black boots crunching twigs with every step she took. She had her left hand holding onto the strap of her backpack, her right hand holding a torch shining in every direction of slight movement, biting back the hope of it being the blonde haired wolf.

She came to a stop, eyes glaring off into the distance in slight frustration, lost in thought as she reached her hand down to the bag strapped on her left thigh on her black cargo pants to find what she was looking for. The black long sleeved top paired with the matching black puffer vest barely did anything to keep the nights chill out from the exhale of cold mist from her breaths as she buried her nose into the black and white crocheted snood around her neck.

The first one was lost the night she and Enid had gone searching Thornhill's house after many attempts to get rid of it their first year, but Enid had made her a new one before her face off with Isaac in the tower in their second year.

Wednesday had only found it upon clearing the blonde girl's side of their shared room before leaving Nevermore, tucked in a black gift bag with her name curved on the card, waiting. It was now one of her most precious possessions, if not around her neck it was often put away in safety from anything that could destroy it.

She pulled a folded paper map of the woods out of the bag, holding it open and shining the torch onto it, Thing peering down with her.

“Wednesday,” Fester spoke up, coming to stand by his favourite niece with an expression of a thin smile, his hands hovering at his sides. “We’ve been searching for 2 years, not that I would cut a road trip short, but maybe it’s best we-” He continued.

“Dare complete that sentence uncle,” The girl deadpanned, expression trying to remain neutral, but her raven eyes gave way to the raw rage glaring at him. “I'll carve your tongue from your mouth myself.” She finished, threatening.

Fester chuckled, his hands coming up to show his instant surrender. He looked at Wednesday’s titled head over her shoulder facing him, the piercing stare making the tiny hairs on his forearms stand rigid. “Nothing quite like the joke of a threat under a full moon in the woods kiddo!”

Wednesday continued her intense glare. “Who’s joking?”

A slight shiver ran down his spine in excitement. “Easy Wednesday.” He barked a laugh, walking to the tree next to him and quickly grabbing a bug embedded in the bark, throwing it into his mouth and chewing with a crunch. “Tasty! Want one?” He grinned.

Wednesday rolled up her eyes, not answering as she turned her attention back to the map and zoning in on the last area circled where Enid had last been a few days ago. Her jaw clenched, what if they missed her and she’d already moved on from this forest further into Alaska?

“So kid,” Fester spoke up again, wiping his hands on his long black jacket free of bugs. “What’s the plan when you do find your alpha?”

Eyebrow barely twitching in annoyance, the comment of ‘her’ alpha being ignored, Wednesday didn’t look up from the map. “Return her to her human form, obviously.” She stated.

“Yeahh, but how are you gonna do that, with a true love's kiss?” He wiggled his non-existent eyebrows, the feeling of impending death running up his spine.

Silence met his question.

Fester felt the full body shiver, his grin growing even bigger. How he loved to get under her skin.

“You are being most annoying, our trips are more entertaining without your pestering Uncle.” She gritted out.

Fester made a thoughtful face, his index finger coming to rest on his chin in thought. “Where’s the fun if I can’t irritate my favourite niece about her feelings that she clearly doesn’t want to admit?” He pondered out loud.

He was met with silence again, watching the girl as Thing tapped on a spot on the map and she shook her head at the hand.

“Listen kiddo,” Fester said, his demeanour changing from joking to oddly serious as he walked to stand at her side. “I’m always up for an adventure and I do hope we find this wolf for you-”

Enid.” Wednesday whispered into the night, her voice giving way to emotion the name brought her, making Thing look up at her from the map.

“Yeah, Enid, but what if you can’t change the puppy back or even find her? Sometimes we lose someone that we will never find.” He continued, his voice trailing off.

“I will find her, even if it may be the last thing I do. I will not lose her again, beast or not.” She declared, avoiding his curious gaze at her admittance. ”Now, will you continue your senseless monologue or help me find where she may be?” Wednesday snapped at him, biting the inside of her cheek.

“Very well, anything for my favourite niece!” Fester sang, taking the map out of her hands. “Now let me see, if I was a wolf where would I be…” He mumbled to himself.

While Fester was overlooking the map, Wednesday cast her eyes upwards to the full moon, feeling the nostalgia of Enid’s presence in the light basking on her face and the thought of the blonde's blue eyed stare and smile coming to her mind, body humming restlessly.

Wednesday would never admit it out loud to anyone, she always made it clear there were things she never desired or cared for and still very much didn’t, but Enid is the only exception, the only one that made her really feel anything. The girl had sacrificed her life to save hers twice, without any hesitation and she would not fail in finding her, there was no other option.

However, there was a lingering feeling she hadn’t been able to shift since she had watched Enid disappear into the forest, potentially to never be seen again and it haunted her to the core; was it just merely reluctant care for the blonde, binding loyalty for the girl that had thrown her humanity away for her, a disturbing longing for her presence perhaps, the feeling of the precious bond they shared, maybe even something else she was too scared to even utter to herself…

Buzzing pulled her from her thoughts, looking down as Thing moved to grab the phone that was in her bag to hold out to her. She took it with a disgusted sneer at the electrical device and a nod to Thing.

Agnes was calling her.

“Hello Agnes.” Wednesday answered, holding the phone up to her ear, watching Fester take steps side to side with the upside down map.

“Wednesday!” Agne's screeched.

“Yes?” She replied evenly, eye twitching at the girl's shrill.

“The local police just put out a call about a lone werewolf being chased by a small pack in the forrest, the sheriff is sending a unit after them, it must be Enid!” She shouted down the phone.

Wednesday’s stomach dropped, the adrenaline quickly consuming her and spreading throughout her limbs in a mad rush, ready to move. “Tell me the location!” She demanded.

“The call said to the west, heading deeper into the forest, you should be able to make it on foot if you run, she’s moving towards you!” Agnes reported, waiting for more news on the scanner next to her.

“Uncle Fester we need to move,” She said, her legs already sprinting in the direction towards the mentioned location. “Now!” She shouted behind her as she ran off, pushing harder for her legs to be quicker, Thing firmly clutching onto her shoulder.

Wednesday didn’t look back, she knew Fester would follow. She pushed on the balls of her feet faster, jumping over rocks and logs, barrelling through bushes and narrowly avoiding trees, panting as she ran.

“I’m coming, Enid.” She breathed into the night.
