Chapter Text
Remus woke up one of the beds in the hospital wing, a black dog laid on the chair next to him. Sirius. His mind flashed with the memories of the past night, of Severus. He felt his body aching sharply, he turned on his side and shut his eyes tightly, willing away the thoughts off the previous night. Sirius, who was still in dog form, shot up at Remus' movement, he climbed onto the bed and nuzzled Remus' side.
They spent the next few days like this whenever Sirius didn't have classes. Remus had been prying for those days for anyone to tell him who told Severus, of course they didn't. Probably just didn’t wanna deal with him getting more pissed, idiots.
Eventually Remus was let out off the hospital wing, with advice from madame Pomfrey to take it easy for the week and to come to her if he needed painkillers in case the pain was too bad.
Remus went to the marauders' dorm, dropping himself on his bed, he took the book from his nightstand, opened it and began reading.
James entered, reaking of sweat and some rich boy colonge that smelled odly like Sirius'. He probably came from quidditch practice. "Hi, moony." James hummed, dropping his bag on the floor. "Hey." Remus replied turning the page of his book. "Who's cologne is that?" Remus continued. "Figured I'd try something new." Liar Remus thought, but he let it slide. "Nice." He finally said. "I'm gonna shower, talk to you later." James said, picking up a towel and walking to the bathroom. "Bye." Remus hummed in response.
Remus proceeded to read listening to the faint sound of the shower. The door opened, Sirius. Sirius crawled in Remus' bed, next to Remus. "Hi, moony." He said. "Hi, padfoot." Remus replied. Who told him? The question eating away at him, but he didn't ask it. "What's wrong, moony?" Sirius asked. "Just hurts a bit. From the full moon, still." It technically wasn't a lie. "That all?" "Yes." "Okay, then."
Remus eventually stood up, putting his book away. Sirius followed. Of course he did.
"Who?" "What?" "Who told him, Sirius?" "Let it rest, moony." "No! I want to know who fucking told him! Why?! Why wont you just tell me who?! I've asked James, Peter, you! And none of you will just fucking tell me, Sirius!"
...
Just tell me. The words left his mouth, almost barely audible. Please, Sirius.
"Moony- I-" "You what?" "I can't-" Sirius choked out. "-I'm sorry.." "..." The next moments were a blur.
Memories of that moment were fuzzy, he remembered James holding him back, Sirius clutching at his face, the metallic smell off blood. James was saying something, perhaps telling him to stop. He didn't know. He couldn't make out the words. He remembered how he felt. Odly satisfied. It was hard to explain.
Remus was sat in Minerva McGonagall's office, she sat across from him. "Mr Lupin?" He looked up. "Yes?" "Are you going to us explain what happened?" He only now noticed his father now, he looked disappointed. "Do I have to?" "Yes, you do, Remus. You can't keep acting out! You do enough of that at home! I thought we finally found somewhere you act normal and then you pull shit like this! This isn't acceptable, Remus." The sound of his father's voice faded out halfway through. "I do not want to discuss it." "You are normally so close with Mr B-" McGonagall began. "Please don't." Remus cut her off.
"I don't wanna have to pull you out of school again, Remus." "Do it. I couldn't care less anymore." "What?" "You heard me."
He remembered clear as day, listening from the other room as his old principal and dad were speaking. "He just keeps on getting into fights mr Lupin. He can't stay here if this keeps on happening." "I know, I know. He's a problem. He just has- issues. I mean after Hope-" Mom remus thought. "I know the loss of a parent can be hard, Mr Lupin. But that's no excuse for his behaviour." The conversation continued. The words stuck with him. He's a problem.
"Remus. I don't know what to do with you." "I know. You've said so. Many times before, dad. Many times." He didn't remember what happened next only McGonagall telling him he had one chance to behave and that he had detention for the next month. Not too bad. Not too bad. He told hissed.
Remus sat in the library, reading. Or well trying to read, he felt eyes prying at him, heard the whispers that blurred together. "Werewolf." "Monster." "Why do they even let him stay." His head started to get fuzzy again. Calm down. Breathe. He told himself. He checked the time and walked off to where he'd supposedly have detention.
He sighed, entering the classroom, more students were there. Some hufflepuff Amelia Bones, he thought, although he was unsure. Oh. Sirius was there too fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck. He just sat somewhere in the back. His head starting to get fuzzy again. Breathe, breathe, breathe. He noticed Barty Crouch Jr and Evan Rosier sitting in front of him, Barty turned to face him. "The hell did you do?" A mocking tone. "Plus don't you gotta sit next to Black or something?" "Fuck off." "Or what, Lupin?" Barty taunted. "Leave him be, Barty." "Come on, it's fun." "B." "Merlin, fine."
"Are they true?" Barty eventually asked. "What?" "The rumours." "..." "Barty, he probably doesn't wanna talk about it." "Can't I be curious?" "B, just quit asking the guy." "Fucking hell, fine. You arse."
"They are, I guess." Remus eventually said. He figured he had nothing to lose. So he might as well.
"That's sick." "What?" "Like it's cool." "I know what sick means." "Then why are you bloody confused?" "Aren't you like freaked out or something?" Remus asked. "He's probably into it, freak." Evan jumped in, shooting a playful glare at Barty. "Hey! What was that for, you twat?!" Evan raised an eyebrow at that. "Don't give me that look, Ev." "You know I'm right." "Fuck you." "Love you too, B. You're still a freak tho." "Am not."
