Chapter Text
A soft chirping noise woke Eule up.
It took her a few seconds to realize what was happening.
Blindly reaching for her phone on the nightstand, she managed to stop her progressively louder alarm.
It was 7:30 am.
Time to get up.
Quickly tidying her bed, she headed to the living room where the first order of business was to open the blinds.
Which immediately made her close her eyes from the sunrays.
“The sun’s been getting up early huh ?” said Eule out loud.
Taking a look outside, she noticed that her small flower box was starting to bloom.
She had planted crocus corms a few weeks ago, and beautiful purple flowers were already there.
Meaning that spring had arrived.
She picked the prettiest flower, and put it in a vase. Eule wanted to give it to Spitze to start a good week.
The latter always liked receiving gifts from her. And perhaps this time around, she’d get a gift back.
Spitze usually answered her presents with a kiss on the forehead, a good hug and that was it. Eule didn’t need anything more, but the rare times she got a gift in return were particularly memorable.
The STAR unit was surprisingly spot-on with her gifts, always finding unexpected things that suited her tastes. Thanks to her partner, she discovered her new favorite band during Christmas.
By the time she got her present ready, it was already time to go to campus.
Wearing a light coat, she headed out holding her flower in both hands.
The weather was nice today. Not too sunny, not too cloudy and with a refreshing breeze, Eule remembered why she loved this season.
The trees were also starting to regain their colors.
From green, to white and yellows, the leaves gave a lively ambiance to a once grey and sad pathway.
There was a beautiful cherry tree in front of the lobby.
The replika stopped for a bit. It was the first time she had seen one in real life.
Sometimes, it made her wonder why the city was only made from concrete. A few trees here and there wouldn’t do any harm.
“Contemplating ?” said Spitze, who silently snuck up behind her.
Eule jumped, hitting the STAR unit in the chin.
“Ah ! I’m so sorry !” apologised Eule.
“Ow… it’s fine, I’m fine, don’t worry about it,” reassured her partner. “You’ve got one hell of a jump though !”
“You spook me !” explained Eule.
“My bad. Won’t happen again,” said Spitze with a smirk.
The tall replika noticed the plant in her hands.
“What’s that you’ve got there ? Is it a… flower ?”
“Ah, this ?”
“Yeah. It’s pretty,” commented Spitze.
“Well… I've grown it. I mean… it grew overnight without me noticing ! I’ve picked it this morning for… for… ehm…” struggled to explain the replika.
“I’m guessing… that it’s for me ?” said the STAR unit.
Starting to blush uncontrollably, Eule held the small vase in front of Spitze, and held her head down.
“...just take it,” told Eule.
“Right. Thanks !”
The latter got closer.
“Do you want a kiss ?”
“Whu-”
The STAR unit didn’t wait for an answer before kissing her forehead, like usual.
“I don’t have a gift for you yet, but that’s the least I can do.”
Eule curled up into Spitze’s arms.
The kissing was starting to get a bit repetitive, but it was somehow just what she needed today.
“You still owe me a ton of gifts,” reminded Eule.
“Yeah, yeah, I know. No amount of kissing will repay them.”
The two stayed together until the bell rang.
Spitze wasn’t very good with goodbyes, but she was getting used to it.
Besides, they would be seeing each other tonight.
The day started well.
