Chapter Text
Zanka was at Tamsy and Corvus’s home, visiting with Enjin and Rudo when Corvus asked for a moment of his time. The older gentleman guided Zanka to his office off to the side of the living room where everyone had gathered.
He’s been in Corvus’s office a few times in their friendship. Not many reasons to come in other than noisiness or to gawk at the artwork.
Corvus closes the door. They both stand by it. “Zanka.” Corvus says, his warm smile in place. “I have a question for you.”
Zanka fiddles with his keys in his pocket. “And that is?”
Corvus looks down, his phone in his hand, and clicks it on. He turns the phone toward Zanka. “I have a friend, his name is Jabber.”
Zanka looks at the man, supposedly known as Jabber. He’s a handsome man, a wild grin on his face, his dreadlocks are half up with gold cuffs in various parts of his hair. Tattoos on his arms.
And a soccer player from the uniform.
“He is currently recovering from an injury. Someone got him good in his leg, and his physical therapy is going well.”
Zanka nods, unsure of how this would involve him.
Then something clicks in the back of his mind.
Corvus puts his phone in his pocket. “I know you stopped being a comfort Omega, but would you mind making a temporary exception for my friend?”
“No.”
Corvus closes his eyes, smile still in place. “I know I don’t have any right to ask since you’ve already said no, but please, reconsider.”
“I’d rather not. I don’t like having Alphas in my home anymore.”
“Then go to him.” Corvus' eyes open, and Zanka can see how stressful this is to his friend.
Zanka is taken back by how persistent Corvus is about this. He keeps his face neutral, thoughts to himself. Zanka pinches the bridge of his nose. “I haven’t done that in two years. This sounds like a rough case, Corvus, and most of the Alphas I used to comfort were older gentlemen who simply needed companionship. What would a young guy like Jabber need with me? How does he not have people to call?” He’s quite a sight to behold. His cheeks warm at that last part. Unsure if Corvus can see it.
Corvus’s shoulder slack. “I understand. Those are reasonable questions, that I cannot answer. You’ll have to talk to Jabber yourself about it, but I promise you, any amount you ask for will be given.”
“Do I need to get my lawyers involved?” He crosses his arms.
“Preferably.” His pleased tone was evident.
A question sits so heavy on his tongue. He’s heard vague things about Corvus from himself and Tamsy and sometimes Seimu, so he thinks this is one of those times where he shouldn’t asks to much.
If he really didn’t want to do this, Corvus would concede. He’s never been one to push, maybe reconsider, but once he’s denied, he moves on.
“Is there no one else to help this man?” He’ll need to contact Seimu to get the details right. He feels like this will be quite an NDA. He’s in his Master’s program right now, and he’ll have to live with this Alpha for a minimum of three to six months he’s assuming.
“No one I’d trust more.” He puts his hand out for Zanka to take. “Jabber is an old dear friend to me.”
Zanka stares at the hand, he has been quietly wanting the touch of an Alpha, but time hasn’t permitted it at the moment. Now his time will be even limited depending on how much this Alpha may need him.
Zanka takes the hand. “Send the details to Seimu.”
