Work Text:
Sophie was looking down into the lake for what felt like hours, half expecting the body to float back up to the surface. But the water was still and calm.
There were so many emotions going through her head - panic, fear, confusion and then the slight bit of happiness from hearing Margo's voice. And hearing her say she didn't want Kyle to hurt her, made her think back to the "I want to protect you" comment, which actually now did seem genuine.
Sophie knew she had to get back home. The sitter was probably starting to worry.
When she got back to her car, she checked the front bumper for any obvious signs of damage and immediately noticed the red streaks. She remembered seeing a 24 hour gas station and knew it also had a car wash. As she was going through the wash, her phone started vibrating and she saw it was Margo calling. At first she hesitated to pick up, but then realized she didn't have many options, or allies, left at this point.
"Hello?"
"Hey, sorry to bother you so late."
"That's okay. I couldn't sleep so I'm out getting a car wash." Sophie realized how ridiculous that sounded but didn't really care.
"Oh, well, car cleanliness is important." Margo paused for a moment and then asked Sophie if she could stop by her house to talk.
"Sure, I'll be home in about 10 minutes."
"Great, see you then."
When Sophie got back to her house, the sitter asked if she was alright and then headed out. Sophie anxiously waited for Margo to arrive. A few minutes after she got home, she saw another pair of headlights through the window. She opened the door, but it wasn't Margo. It was the man from the bar she had spoken with the previous night.
"I thought we agreed to meet again in 24 hours?"
Sophie began to explain that it had been a rough night and asked if they could meet tomorrow.
All of a sudden, another pair of headlights appeared. Thankfully this time it was Margo.
"What's going on here? Sophie, are you alright?"
When the man saw Margo, he replied "There was just a misunderstanding. Enjoy your evening."
Once inside, Margo said "I can't get in touch with my brother. I've been calling him all night."
"I don't know how to tell you this, but your brother was following me tonight. He tried to run me off the road and then got out of his truck. I was so scared and when he came up to my window, he pounded on the glass and started yelling. He was trying to kill me, Margo."
"What happened Sophie?"
"He was standing in the middle of the road and I hit him with my car."
"Did you just leave his body in the road?"
"Oh, no. I dragged him to the edge of the lake and pushed him off the cliff."
"Oh Kyle." Margo's voice trailed off and she remained silent for a moment. "I told him not to go and bother you. Sophie, you know what this means?"
Sophie looked at Margo and just shook her head.
"We have to stick together now, we're both fugatives. We don't have a lot of time, but we need to leave as soon as possible."
"Leave and go where?" Sophie asked.
"We need to make it across the Mexico border. I need to go grab some things from Kyle's trailer. In the meantime, you should pack and gather whatever you want to bring. I'll be back before sunrise to get you."
After Margo had left, Sophie started getting things packed. When she was finished, she went to Jack's room. He was sound asleep, so she quietly said "I have to go away for a little while again. But daddy will be back real soon." As soon as she said this, she saw another pair of headlights in the driveway. This time it was Graham. Sophie panicked and quietly and quickly went to get her suitcases to move them into the garage.
As she was coming back inside the house, Graham startled her. "What are you doing wandering around in the dark, Sophie? And at this time of night?"
"Oh, I couldn't sleep and then I saw you drive up. Just wasn't expecting you back so soon."
Graham didn't say anything, but headed for the bedroom.
For the next few hours, Sophie anxiously waited for Margo to get back.
Margo finally texted "I'll be by your place in a couple of minutes."
Once she got there, Sophie quietly snuck out.
"I don't have any cash on me, Margo."
"Oh, that's alright. I knew my brother still had most of the cash I had given him. We can use it to help us get down to Mexico and then decide what we want to do from there."
Sophie admired Margo's enthusiasm, but she herself was feeling tired and worried.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They drove for several days, only stopping for gas and to take turns driving. They were nearing the border and Margo turned to Sophie. "Don't worry, everything's going to be fine."
But Sophie's nervousness returned as they stopped at the checkpoint.
"Hello officer, we're just going down for a vacation in Mexico City and to see some friends."
"Do you have your passports?"
"Yes, here they are."
"Wait here for a moment please."
The officer was gone for almost 20 minutes. But he finally came back and to both of their relief, they were free to proceed.
They eventually arrived in a small town on the gulf coast and there were several hotels right along the beach. "Do you think we should look for one that's farther away from the water. It might be cheaper" Sophie suggested.
"No, I want to be as close to the water as possible. Something about hearing the waves always soothes my soul".
There was one hotel that they both agreed looked really nice called "Gulf Breeze". Margo got her phone out to see what the reviews were like and saw it had a 4.5 out of 5 star rating.
"This one sounds good - clean sheets and hot water."
Neither of them had packed very much, since they had left in a hurry. Living in Texas, Margo was fairly fluent in Spanish and had no trouble communicating with the man behind the counter.
"I just asked if we could have a water view and a king size bed."
Sophie smiled at Margo. "Sounds perfect."
Their room was on the third floor. When they opened the door, the room was bright and airy. Margo went over to the deck and opened the sliding door. The smell of salt air was refreshing. "I'm going to wander down to the beach."
"Okay, I'm going to take a shower. I'll join you a little later."
Margo headed out the door and gave Sophie a wink. "See you soon."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The hot shower felt so refreshing. As Sophie was getting her clothes on, she looked out the window and saw Margo down on the sand. The last few days felt like a whirlwind, but she was just glad to have Margo on her side.
"There you are." Margo sat up as Sophie was laying a towel down on the sand.
"It really is beautiful here."
Margo reached into her bag and pulled out a bottle of tequila and a couple of shot glasses.
"Where'd you get all that?" Sophie asked.
"Oh, a few stops back at one of the gas stations."
Margo handed Sophie a shot glass which had "I DON'T GIVE A SHOT" in bold letters.
"What does your shot glass say?"
Margo turned the glass around and read "Tequila por favor."
Margo filled both glasses and they toasted to having an actual bed to sleep in for the night.
They both stayed on the beach until after sunset and it was the first time in a while that Sophie finally felt at ease.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When they got back to the room, Margo told Sophie she was going to jump in the shower.
After Margo got out of the shower, she didn't even bother getting dressed and just got under the covers. Sophie pressed her lips to Margo's and then gently kissed down her neck to her breasts. Even though it was warm in the room, Margo's nipples were erect. Sophie began sucking each one and Margo let out soft moans.
"I need to feel you inside me, Sophie."
Sophie moved farther down Margo's stomach and then kissed her inner thighs. She started licking around Margo's clit and put a couple of fingers inside of her. It didn't take long for Margo to climax. Sophie moved up next to her and gave her a kiss.
"It feels warm in here and I don't think it's just because you made passionate love to me."
They had forgotten to turn on the air conditioning, so the room had gotten very warm. Margo got out of bed and went to switch it on.
"Hey, I brought a surprise." Margo went over to her suitcase. When she turned around she was holding a strap-on. "I've had this for a really long time and rarely used it. Want to try it out?"
"Sure, how big is that thing?"
Margo held it out and said "I'd guess 8 inches. I'll be gentle, I promise."
After a few minutes of adjustments and making sure everything was secure around Margo's waist, Sophie laid down on the bed and Margo spread her legs.
"Alright, are you ready for some of this BDE?"
Sophie laughed and said "Oh yes, please give me all 8 inches".
Margo started slowly and then gradually got into a groove.
After several minutes, Sophie wanted to switch positions and moved on top of Margo.
Sophie could tell that Margo really enjoyed this position as well when she said "Oh yeah, ride it cowgirl." Sophie could feel herself about to come and she pulled Margo close to her as she felt wave after wave of pleasure pulse through her body.
Sophie still had her arms around Margo and while catching her breath whispered "I'm so in love with you."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When Sophie woke up the next morning, she felt Margo's arms around her. Even though they had made love a few times before, Sophie felt like this time was just as special as the first. Margo's touch was something that Sophie needed like a drug.
Sophie rolled over and quietly said "Hey, it's almost checkout time."
"Good morning." Margo smiled at Sophie.
"I'll make sure to get everything packed up and take it out to the truck."
"Okay, and I'll go down to the front desk and get us checked out."
After getting everything loaded into the truck, Sophie was leaning against the hood when Margo came out of the office.
"Let's roll."
Before leaving the parking lot, Margo said "As long as we have each other, we'll be okay." Margo squeezed Sophie's hand, for an added bit of reassurance. "Let's head west to Baja and go into the wine business."
"That's actually not a bad idea." Sophie leaned over in the truck and gently kissed Margo. "I love you."
Margo stared at Sophie for moment and then said "I love you, too. You're the reason why I've been able to get through all of this."
Just as they were pulling out of the parking lot, "Take the Money and Run" by the Steve Miller Band came on.
"Hey, he's singing about us" Margo joked.
Sophie smiled and knew she'd run anywhere with Margo.
