Petals and Wings

Summary:

idk how to do summaries

Notes:

First, the characters are not named directly. Instead, they are represented by what they symbolize. Shinobu is the insect because she uses insect breathing. Kanae and Kanao are flowers because they use flower breathing. Kanae is the flower with pale violet petals, and Kanao is the flower with lilac petals. I chose these flowers based on their eye colors. Second, this is an unfinished piece. I wrote it in 2019 for an English project, and at the time I was just starting to get into writing. Despite that, I somehow received a 100% on it, even though I personally think it deserved closer to a 50. Lastly, because I was only 11 when I wrote this, there will probably be several run-on sentences. If anyone wants to take this work and improve it, feel free to do so as long as I am credited. Thank you. Sorry for rambling. I hope you enjoy what my 11 year old self wrote.

Work Text:

In the early morning as the sun rose over the garden, the flowers came alive to absorb the sunlight. Though as the sun rose to its peak for the day, a small insect was spotted flying through the air to find its flower. It is known that this small insect goes to the same flower everyday.  And as the insect spots its favorite flower in the distance, it goes to it and lands on the pale violet petals it longs to see each day. No matter if there were other flowers that were closer to the insect, it always chose to go to this flower. This flower was the insects world and the insect likes to think if this garden had a center, her flower would  always be the center of it to the insect, no matter what.  To the insect, this flower never judged her for being small, never judged her for not being able to carry alot like the other insects, and never judged her for being herself and that why the insect loves her flower and would do anything for her favorite flower.

In the same garden but farther back, there was another flower with lilac petals, standing silently swaying in the wind and absorbing sunlight just like the other flowers in the garden. Though this flower’s petals were barely starting to bloom, compared to the flower that was in the center of the garden with the pale violet petals. This flower, however, liked to observe. It liked to observe the garden and its flowers; it liked to observe the insects, especially the flower in the center of the garden and the insect. Every morning this flower would watch the insect as it landed on the flower with the pale violet petals, as if  the insect and the flower had a connection from what could be a past life. The second flower loved to admire it but she wished she had an insect that would be like the flower in the center of the garden’s insect.

As the morning became afternoon, the insect noticed that storm clouds had obscured the light from the sun. The insect could recall other storms the garden had but they were never quite like this. The insect decided to settle on the center of the flower with pale violet petals. As the storm picked up, the flower that the insect was on started to bend. The insect could hear thunder in the distance as more storm clouds rolled in, blocking the rest of the sunlight that made the petals warm. Rain started pouring; at first, the rain was light but now the rain is heavy.  The wind was getting worse to the point where the insect had to lift its wings to try to steady itself. The flower with the pale violet petals had bent violently, resulting in the insect getting blown away by the wind. The insect had no choice but to try to find its way back to its flower.

To the other flower with the lilac petals, the storm felt like it was never-ending. The flower could not see anything but this flower managed to see the flower in the center of the garden, the one with the beautiful pale violet petals that the insect loved going to. But what this flower saw was the flower in the center struggling with the wind. The flower with the lilac petals saw how the flower in the center was struggling and wanted to do something but this flower is just a flower and flowers can’t move; they are stuck in the soil until they are either picked for a bouquet or they die. The storm wind picked up, making it even worse because this flower, to witness the flower with the pale violet petals in the center of the garden bend much more than she ever did in any storm this garden had encountered, snapped. The second flower noticed that when that flower in the center snapped, its pale violet petals got swooped up in the wind, leaving a few on the ground and the flower felt bad that it could not help but this flower knows she can’t but she hopes the insect will be okay; its favorite flower is gone so now this flower has to wait until the next day to see the insect. The next morning after the storm, the insect made its way back, hoping that everything was okay.  With this thought in mind

I’m sorry but i gave up; this is all i got.
