Chapter 1: Unexpected Visitors

Chapter Text

The loud banging on Andy's door came loud and rapid. As far as he was aware, no one else was supposed to be there, the team had been settled in for the past 2 and a half hours. Someone paused the movie they were half watching and Andy got up to open the door. When he swung open the door, his face dropped. There stood Jason, his face covered in what seemed to be mud, being supported by 'Zombie Boy' Will Byers. Who also seemed to be covered in mud, although slightly less than Jason. Will also seemed to have a piece of clothing wrapped around his head. Both breathing heavily, Jason spoke between breaths:

"Can we come in?"

Andy didn't know what to say. Or to think. His best friend, who he believed to be dead, stood in front of him. Asking to come in. He stood to the side, letting Jason, also with Will who was still supporting him into the house. The two boys made a beeline to the kitchen, as Andy closed the door, and the rest of the team peered out from the living room.

"Who was that?" One had spoken up, although Andy completely ignored him and he followed, just now noticing the drops of blood that were on his floor.

"Jason?"

"Hey Andy." He replied in between breaths, grimacing slightly, watching as Andy stood in the doorway of the kitchen. The rest of the team were now also looking into the scene that was the kitchen, their faces, plastered with shock and disbelief.

In fairness to them, they saw Jason, their supposed dead friend, covered in blood, lying on his back on Andy's kitchen table, as Will cleaned what seemed to be deep claw marks carved into the right side of his torso. Silence had flooded the house, with nobody knowing what to say. The team stood and watched as Will cleaned Jason's wounds. The only interruption to the deafening silence was Will asking Jason to turn over slightly, and the periodical groan of pain from Jason.

Will had flicked his eyes up to look at the team watching him and Jason and then went back down to tending to Jason's wounds. Will knew that the team didn't exactly like him. If he could have it his way, him and Jason would be in Hoppers cabin, however Andy's was closer, and they didn't know how much time they had, considering Jason was bleeding badly. He didn't let that stop him though. He needed to help Jason.

Jason didn't speak. All he could do was occasionally look at his team while grimacing as Will disinfected his wounds.

It was about 30 minutes of loud and painful silence before Will stood back and reached his arm out to help Jason sit up. "Be slow with your movements. It's going to hurt." Will beings. "Drink plenty of water too" he follows, looking slightly over at Andy, hoping he'll understand. Will helps Jason still upright in the table slowly, as to not deface the stitches that were just put in. It was only now, that the basketball team could see the concern and worry on Will's face, rather than the pure concentration.

"You alright, Jay?" Will asks, quietly, nearly a whisper. Jason nodded "Hurts like shit, but.." he stopped, knowing Will would be able to finish the sentence.

Jason slowly descended his feet to the floor, his left arm around Will's shoulder.

"Holy shit, Jason.. is that actually you?" One of the boys asked. "I mean like, it's you.. but how??" He continued, "I don't.. understand how you're.. here"

"Yeah, it's.. it's me. I uhm.." Jason started, he wanted to explain everything, tell his team about what had happened, he just didn't know where to start.

"We should, sit you down somewhere" Will spoke, quietly but stern, not making eye contact with anyone. "Yeah" Andy agreed, guiding Will and Jason to the living room, getting some bottles of water for Jason, the rest of the team sat around them, eyes looking for some sort of an answer.

Once Will had made sure Jason was seated comfortably, he sat next to him, making sure he was okay. "Okay, do you want to explain what's going on, because we've been trying to keep calm but holy shit, you're alive?? After 18 months?? How is that possible, we buried you. And also-" Andy paused to now properly look at Will. "Why are you here?"

"Okay, okay! Jeez, one thing at a time, Andy".

By now, the team had also taken a seat. Next to Will, on the couch, as a boy, with dark black hair, he was tall, taller than Will, and, begrudgingly to Will, very handsome. His face was riddled with concern, Will assumed for Jason. Another guy sat closest to the door, looked familiar, luckily for will, he was adorning his letterman, which read 'Ryan'. Will could swear he felt familiar, not someone he used to know, maybe someone he saw once or twice as a kid. Across from Will, sat the rest of the team, a few in beanbags that had been laid out for the movie they were watching.

"Well, I suppose I should start with when I died" Jason spoke up, looking at Will with wide eyes, as he realizes he has no idea how to make it all make sense.
