CHAPTER ONE: REMEMBRANCE
WELCOME TO WHITESPACE, YOU’VE BEEN HERE FOR A LONG TIME.
Sunny awakes in a blank white room, he groggily tries to stand up, the searing tears of the wounds on his shoulders, felt as shards of glass stabbing into him.
“...” *The boy rose up, seeing the once blank room now full of pictures and mirrors.*
“This… isn’t… whatever…” *Sunny stumbles while trying to walk, he’s felt pain like this before but not to this extent, it feels like the left side of his body was burned, but whenever he looked at his arm the jacket he was wearing wasn’t able to get off, but his hand… looked oddly fine.*
*The boy walked towards the first mirror, his reflection wasn’t in view, sunny touched the mirror, all that looked back was a younger sunny.*
(Omori? No… this seems to be even younger… where is Omori?) *Sunny tried to pull away from the mirror, but his hand refused, pulling him in instead.*
____________________________________________________________________________
Six Years Ago
“Sunny! Sunny!” *The boy was heavily confused seeing a tan-boy running towards him.*
“Y-yeah…?” *Sunny replied, hearing his own younger voice, which startled him to the point he shivered from it.*
“Aubrey said, you would choose her over me if we were ever in a project again, you wouldn’t do that to me right?!” *Sunny was confused, he knows that he uses Headspace to relive old, good memories, but not this…*
“I-I don’t know, Kel…” *Sunny tried to respond, without wanting to upset the young Kel.*
“Aww man… Well… I’ll always pick you to team up for projects!” *Kel’s infectious attitude made Sunny crack a smile before remembering….*
Two Years Ago
“Sunny… get away from me… I-I don’t want to work with you…” *Sunny shook…*
“A-Alright…” *Sunny walked back to his desk, he felt his eyes water up, but he put that to the side, and continued his project, holding his tears back.*
“Sunny?-” *A voice snapped him back.*
“Wha-” *Sunny looked at the 7-year old Kel, again.*
“Are you okay? You kinda seemed off.” *The question rang over and over again in Sunny’s ears…* (What… have I really changed that much…? N-no… I have… and they stayed the same…)
“Kel…” *Sunny said his voice returned to a more normal voice for him.*
“Yeah, Sunny?-” *Kel was interrupted by Sunny.*
“You’re an amazing person… don’t… change… I’m so sorry for what I did… please… forgive me for what I did…” *Before Kel could respond, the grassy area of an elementary playground faded away, the mirror in front of him showed Kel… not the younger one… just Kel… looking sorrowful, just like the last time he fully saw Kel, before.*
“...” *Sunny saw the other mirrors, now realizing after the last mirror.* “One down… five to go.”
*Sunny moved his body, feeling the sharp pain of his left side return.* “Damn…”
*He shuffled over to the next mirror, he saw a bit more of himself, there wasn’t the six-year old kid he saw… it looked older, but more abstract, a mess of greys and a hint of orange blurred together with that familiar glaring red eye piercing his soul.*
“...” *His body trembled before pushing himself into the mirror, bringing him into an oh-so familiar room… the living room.*
Five Years Ago
“Sunny? Are you asleep again?” *The voice of a traitor, instantly snapping him out of a half-dreamy state.*
“No, I'm awake.” *The straightforward answer startled Basil, especially since Sunny was keeping eye contact with him to a creepy point.*
“S-Sorry… y-you kept drooping over… a-are you okay?" *Sunny looked into Basil’s eyes.*
“Basil… answer me completely honestly…” *Basil seemed nervous, he’s never seen Sunny this direct to anyone.*
“Basil… would you throw me under the bus, if we got caught doing something completely wrong…?” *The question seemed to have stunned Basil, Sunny… thought back to that very day… or well the year after it.*
Two and a half years ago
“B-Basil… p-please… me…” *Sunny was crawling on the ground after being beaten up by the Hooligans, Basil who had watched with a horrified look on his face, seemed shocked.*
“S-Su-” *Basil was interrupted by a blonde haired girl with black roots, Aubrey and Kim.*
“Basil c’mon… l-leave him…” *Aubrey seemed to be shaken up as well, but not as much as Basil. Her body was nearly trembling from the feeling.*
“Yeah the bus is almost here.” *Kim seemed indifferent about the whole thing, nearly beating a kid half to death from him, just trying to talk with Aubrey, and Basil.*
“A-Alright, s-sorry… i-i-” *Aubrey cut off the anxious traitor.*
“H-He’ll live… if not…” *Aubrey trailed off, before looking at Kim then looking at Basil.* “He would've gotten what he deserved…” *Aubrey looked at the bruised boy, showing a face she would only show Sunny when Aubrey talked about her mother.*
(A-am I really that bad…?) *Sunny thought to himself, picking himself up feeling-* “AAgh!” *Sunny’s left arm had suffered a hairline fracture, the arm quickly swelling around the mark, Mikeal had stomped.* “B-Basil…” *Sunny muttered out, since no one was near.* “W-Why… Why do you hate me? I-I thought we were friends… b-best friends…”
*Sunny reassociated to where Basil had finally figured out his answer.*
“I-i’m not sure why you’re asking… b-but I-I think I would only do it… to protect someone…” *Basil said his voice became more confident as it went on.*
“Basil… would you do it to protect yourself?” *Basil’s eyes tightened from Sunny’s words.*
“I-i don’t think… I-I would ever do that to you, Sunny.” *Sunny felt… off, like he was being pushed towards something, or was he being pulled?*

Notes/Personal Feeling: Am I going too fast with the pace so far? I think I’m skipping parts that would add, but in others I think I'm adding too much.
Chapter Two: Forced Forgiveness
One hour later
“Ugh… Where’s Kel? He was supposed to be here nearly twenty minutes ago…” *Aubrey whined to a half-awake seasoning and dinosaur nerd.*
“It’s Kel, give the idiot time, though it is getting late.” *Kim barked back.*
“K-Kel… s-seemed off yesterday at the bus… d-do you think we should go check on him…?” *Basil questioned aloud, the hangout spot seemed quiet despite it being summer.*
“Y-yeah let’s go…” *Aubrey quickly said, getting up and immediately heading towards the jock’s house.*
“H-Hey, wait up!” *Kim yelled out, grabbing Basil off the picnic blanket, and the two chased after the now speed walking girl.*
7 minutes later
*They got to Kel, Chris, and Mari’s street, they saw Mr. and Mrs. Suzuki’s car pulled into the street.*
“Hey! Mari, it’s us!” *Kim yelled out, clearly trying to get a free ride, despite the walk being less than three minutes.*
“Hmm?” *Mari rolled down her window seeing two short seventeen year olds, and one average height one.* “I thought you three were coming over later?” *Mari questioned.*
“We were at the park and Kel was taking too long, so we’re checking on him…” *Aubrey said, feeling a chill down her spine.*
“Want a ride? Yeah we’re close, but we were going to pick up a book Hero left anyway.” *Mari said, moving over to the other side of the car, after opening the door.*
*The three climbed in, Basil next to Mari, Kim next to Basil and Aubrey, and Aubrey at the right window seat.*
“So… how was the school year for you three? You three are seniors now, right?” *Mrs. Suzuki asked.*
“M-Me and Aubrey are… K-Kim has to make-up a semester during the summer to graduate Junior year…” *Basil said. He was always nervous around Mari, and during this trip, Mari was determined to learn why.*
“Basil!-” *Kim somewhat yelled, Aubrey tapped the window, interrupting Kim’s impending meltdown of embarrassment.*
“Hey… did you leave your front door open?...” *When Aubrey said that aloud, her, and Mari’s stomach felt like they dropped.
“What…?” *Mari questioned.* “M-Maybe H-He left the house… and forgot to close it…” *Mari felt her chest tighten for an odd reason, to her at least.*
“That Boy…” *Mr. Suzuki gripped the steering wheel, right before pulling into the driveway-*
“HELP! PLEASE ANYONE!” *Kel’s terrified voice screamed out of the open door, the smell of sulfur finally trailing into their noses.*
*Aubrey and Mari, were the first to bolt out of the car, Mari limping towards the door as fast as she could-*
“WHAT HAPPENED!” *Aubrey yelled, running towards Kel who was holding something…*
“S-Sunny! h-He-” *Kel was scared out of his mind, panting, feeling like he was about to throw up, holding onto a bleeding, and lightly burnt Sunny.*
“He What?!” Aubrey asked, dashing over to see what he was holding.* “H-He’s n-not… r-right?”
*Mari who had finally reached the two.* “What Happened!?” *Mari saw… Sunny… her little brother… cut up, a shard of a charred steak knife stabbed into his left eye, followed by shards of glass, stabbed into the entire left side of Sunny’s body, the jacket slipped showing the blood curdling at the now revealed shoulder.* “I-I…” *Mari couldn’t breathe, she was overwhelmed… too overwhelmed…*
“M-Mari?” *Aubrey was afraid, but more worried about Mari than Sunny, dropping the part of Sunny she was holding to hold onto Mari.*
“Aubrey! G-Get anyone!” *Kel’s words fell onto deaf ears, and after about five minutes since they pulled into the driveway-*
“It’s going to be fine, maybe that freak broke something…” *Kim said to Basil, which only made the uneasy sensation he had, grow..*
“P-Please… don’t talk about him that way, Kim…” *Basil wearily said. (M-Maybe… he… no, S-Sunny wouldn’t do that to himself-, but that way Kel screamed it sounded like he was horrified…) Basil thought to himself, trying to keep the building guilt away from him.*
*Back in the house.*
“Mari… Mari? Are you there… It's Sunny… Mom told me to bring you some food. She said you didn’t feel good… and she and dad had to leave for work…” *Mari’s head was filled with something she’s felt, but not to this extent… GUILT.*
“M-Mari! S-snap out of it!” *Aubrey was trying to get Mari to get her focus back to reality.*
“I-i…” *Mari said, her eyes were staring blankly, at her little brother.*
“B-Basil! Get Mari’s parents!” *The pink-haired girl yelled to the blonde-boy who was walking in wearily with Kim.*
“O-Okay!” *Basil shakily ran to the older Suzuki’s who were already on the phone.*
“Y-Yes… you’ll be here in h-how long?” *Mrs. Suzuki was on the phone, while Mr. Suzuki was checking something on the car.*
“The engine had to run- Basil? What’s going on in there?!” *Mr. Suzuki snapped out, trying to at least get the car to run.*
“I-I’m not sure! I-I saw Mari, and them on the floor holding something! The stove and microwave looked like they caught fire!-” *Basil’s running mind was frantic.*
“J-Just go get them…” *Mr. Suzuki asked oddly timidly for the constantly serious man.*
“A-Alright…” *Basil went back inside.*
(W-What… happened… t-this can’t be…) *Basil finally reached the front door again, seeing… his best friend.*
“...” *Mari, Basil, and Kel were all equally quiet, the muffled yells of Kim and Aubrey seemed to fade away into the background as sirens began to inch closer to the now slightly smokey house.*
Chapter End.
Notes: I’m trying to humanize the other characters from the P.O.V. not being onto Sunny, like the second chapter of the original fanfic, so sorry if it’s pretty bad.
Chapter Three: Shuāng bèi de (It’s just Double, I got it from Google translate.)
*Sunny was in the midst of the mirror filled room once again, looking at the third mirror, the reflection of Sunny looked more closer in time of the incident, then the others… a shakily still twelve-year old, with cuts and bumps formed on the fingers and tumb, the boy had a stoic face.*
“This must be her next…” *Sunny went into the mirror again, he felt the left-side of his body was lighter and he walked to it.*
Four-years ago
*Sunny now in the treehouse, seeing a young black-haired girl reading through a book, Sunny looked at the calendar…*
“Two weeks…” *Sunny felt his voice… the two before all of the agony… but this one… was about to experience it…*
“Oh! Sunny, you’re still awake… I thought you fell asleep when the others left…” *Aubrey scooted closer to Sunny.*
“I did… I think…” *Sunny looked at Aubrey, the girl he spent so long having a crush on during his childhood-*
Three Years Ago (2/14/03)
“A-Aubrey…” *Sunny approached the girl he spent so much time with as a kid.* “A-Aubrey i-i’m sorry-”
“I don’t want to hear it! Leave me alone!” *Aubrey yelled, Kim walking up behind Sunny and leaning next to Aubrey.*
“Just leave her alone…” *Kim sneered at Sunny.*
“i-I have to tell her something…” *Sunny tried his best to say it with the little confidence he had left in him, holding a letter. (I… just want everything to go back to normal-) Sunny’s train of thought left, as Kim snatched the letter out of Sunny’s hands.*
“Kim…?” *Aubrey knew Kim was straightforward, but she was confused by what her friend was doing. (Is she just going to keep it, maybe throw it away-) Aubrey’s eyes grew a bit-wide as Kim opened the letter.*
“Ahem… Everyone in the lunch room!” *Kim yelled out, while Kim held the note, both Aubrey and Sunny were both frozen for different reasons, but from Kim yelling, everyone looked at her.*
“Sunny here, has a letter for our dear friend, Aubrey… does everyone want to hear?-” *No one said anything.* “Everyone, okay it’s everyone… ‘Aubrey, I planned to tell you this after the recital a year ago… but I've liked you for a long time… I know you don’t like me… but, can we be friends again…” *Kim’s voice grew quieter as the letter went on, looking at the silent cafeteria, Sunny did the only thing he could do, run… run away-*
“Sunny? Sunny you spaced out again…” *The younger Aubrey said.*
“Sorry, I got distracted… Aubrey… what do you see me as?” *Sunny asked Aubrey.*
“Well… I see you more or less how Mari sees Hero, whatever that means…, but you’re still my best friend, Sunny!” *Aubrey closed off her sentence with a hug, which to Sunny who felt more conflicted. (Is this my purgatory… my eternal punishment…) Before Sunny could think more, he fell through the treehouse’s floor.*
“!” *Sunny picked himself up… looking around he saw something that doesn’t exist, but will anyway.*
“Dreamer… Why are you here…” *Asked the monochromatic Sunny.*
“I’m not sure… but, how can you talk…?”
“Have you not expected me to be able to talk after four years of you using me, for shame Dreamer…”
“Fine… what do you want, Omori…?”
“Dreamer… do not take that tone with me, but… Will you listen to me?”
“Yes…”
“Good.”
*The room started to fade to white.*
“? Seems like I don’t have much time to explain…” *Omori faded along with the memory, Sunny found himself with the last three remaining doors, he looked at his reflection again, he now saw himself a few hours ago… a dull-frail looking 17-year old, sweater draped over his shoulders, the blank black t-shirt and black pants, with the crappy dress shoes, all reminded him of what could come next.*
“This is getting annoying…” *Sunny tried to stand up.* “Agh!-” *He felt a sharp pain in his left eye, a throbbing but burning feeling was tearing through his eye.*
*From Sunny’s thrashing around, he touched the mirror, in an effort to escape the pain.*
Four Years Ago
“Sunny, would you mind if I ask you something ...?” *Sunny snapped his head around to see a person he hasn’t seen in three-and-a-half years, his idol… Henry.*
“...” *Sunny nodded.*
“Thanks… it’s about Mari… h-has it been me… or does she seem to be more… irritated, lately…?” *Henry asked Sunny, slightly off-put from Sunny staring right into his pupils.*
“...” *Sunny nodded again.*
“Oh… you want to talk about it…?” *The false idol sat next to Sunny.*
“H-Hero… what… would you do without, Mari…?” *Hero was taken aback from the heavy question.*
“I-I think… I would move on… what’s the matter, Sunny?-” *Sunny’s memory flooded with hope… no… anger…*
*The dream faded away leaving two mirrors left.*
Chapter End.
Notes: Hero wasn’t really fleshed out so I tried to put him into more of a positive light, and I feel like Aubrey became the emotional terrorist later than a year later, so…
Chapter Four: Reflection
*Sunny looked at the last two mirrors, looking through one, had a hurt and scarred Sunny lying limply around a burning set of dishes, and the other had a more healthy sunny facing away.*
“So you’ve come to the end, Dreamer… which do you see your life turning out…?”
*Sunny looked at the two mirrors, picking the one of himself burnt on the ground, Omori left but not before saying.*
“Face The Truth, Sunny Suzuki.”
*Sunny entered the mirror, feeling himself starting to hurt over and over again, but he Persevered.*
“Sunny…” *Sunny heard the plea of a woman he used to know.* “Sunny…” *Sunny felt his mother’s gentle words, pulling him towards the door.* “Sunny… I believe in you…” *The words his mother told him before every practice and day… one of the only lights in his dark world…*
“M-Mom… I-i-i’m sorry…”
Two Hours After The Attempt
“Mincy! Wake up, it’s the first day of summer and I'm not letting you spend your summer indoors again!” *Said ‘Pretty Boy’ / Thomas, in an overly loud noise for 10 am.*
“Go away… it’s too early…” *Mincy groaned, pulling her blanket over her head, but not before Thomas lifted her out of bed,* “That’s cheating!” *Mincy squeaked out trying to get out of her twin’s arms.*
“Oh shut up, you can talk with that guy you hang out with, at the park or whatever!” *Thomas clearly knew how to take a hint, but was refusing to do so.*
“Fine… I think he’s at his house anyway…” *Mincy flopped onto her rug.* “Prick…”
“M-My bad…” *After ten minutes, the two were walking outside.* “Hey, can I at least meet him? You’ve been hanging out with someone, and it’s a guy…”
*Mincy glared at him.* “Oh… and why’s that… trying to embarrass me again?”
“N-No! F-Fine… Dad wanted me to meet him, before he eventually came to the house…” *Thomas sighed, while Mincy texted him, while she was walking to Sunny’s house: <I’m changing your name back to, spare parts.>.* “Rude…”
*As Mincy walked to Sunny’s house, she’s been here about twice, both only to hang out in the treehouse, but since the front door was open…*
<Mincy +1 Breaking And Entering Charge>
“What…?” *Mincy saw the kitchen, a burned stove, and a broken microwave, all pointed towards a glass-shard riddled floor and blood, Mincy instantly felt a pit drop into her stomach, so she started to look around, eventually heading upstairs after trying to use the piano downstairs and playing a piece so awful it would be a charge for it.*
“...” *Mincy entered the room on the right-most side from the faint blood trickle on the floor, opening it to see a bedroom, with two beds… and one nightdrawer with three letters on it. (Addressed to… Mom, Mari and her friends… who’s Mari? And… Me?) Mincy grabbed the three letters, trembling as she opened the one addressed to her.*
“D-Dear, Mincy… If you’re reading this, I’m sorry… I’m sorry for never being able to do stuff as real friends with you… Mincy, on the first day of summer… I planned on killing myself, and if you’re reading this, I must’ve succeeded… Mincy, you were one of the only two good things in my life… You’ve always asked me, why do I stay away from others… well here’s the story…”
Christmas Day, 1999.
“Sunny… you’re only getting one present this year, but we all helped with it…”
Two Days Before the Recital, Year 2000.
“Sunny… Can you please get this right, we only have two days left, and this has to be perfect! That’s all I’m asking of you, so can you not be such a problem!”
One Day Before the Recital, Year 2000.
“Sunny, get back here! You’re not running away, we all worked so hard for it, do you not care abo-”
“Shut up! Just let me go!”
“Sunny, stop moving! Sun-”
“M-Mari… M-Mari… Mari…?”
“S-Sunny?... It’s going to be okay… Follow me”
“I-It was all Sunny, h-he got me to help him!-”
October 15, 2000.
“STAY AWAY FROM ME!’

March 13, 2001.
“Sunny… You’re not my friend… leave me alone…”
October 14, 2001.
“Sunny… stay away from me and Mari…”
*Mincy felt… furious at all of them… she gripped the letters and asked Sunny’s neighbor’s parents where they went.*
“Sorry… there was an ambulance here not long ago-” *Said Mr. Rodriquez, holding Sally in his arms.*
“I-I’m sorry to ask this but, can you take me to the hospital, I have something really important to give to Sunny!”
