Work Text:
Izuku awoke, gasping for air. He had had an awfully vivid dream about being sucked into a black hole. He then realised that he was not in his room. Looking around, it appeared to be a small cottage; the walls were made of cobblestone, moss and ivy curling and snaking its way along it. The floor was a dark oak, and the roof was made with wooden planks.
Izuku’s heart rate began to pick up speed again, panic welling up inside him. His eyes raked over the room, spotting a leather-bound book lying on the floor. He climbed out of bed, grabbing the journal and flipping it open to the last entry. Heart hammering, he began reading:
Dear Diary,
Today, I saw 3 new dragons I’ve never seen in the village before! Kirishima and the others introduced me. Apparently, the new dragons are from a different village, and they overheard the villagers talking about planning to invade ours, so they decided to come and warn us. Their names are Momo, Asui and Shoji. The village chief, Mr. Aizawa, was really thankful. Oop! Sorry, Diary, but I’ve got to go! Kacchan’s yelling at me. Ugh. I never signed up to go hunting with him! Plus, Kacchan’s magic is 10 times better than mine, so I don’t get why he needs me with him. Bye Diary!
Izuku tried, and failed, to process what he had just read. Dragons?? Magic??? “Apparently my classmates are here too.” Izuku mumbled, trying to understand what was happening.
“Deku-kun?” Came a voice. Izuku nearly jumped out of his skin at the sound. Hang on, was that Uraraka?? “U-Uraraka-san! Is that you?” Izuku asked, trying not to sound as panicked ad he really was. “Yeah. Are you feeling better?” Uraraka’s voice sounded worried. “Yeah, I’m fine!” Izuku replied. Then, Ochaco walked into the room, her short brown hair curling neatly. “Deku-kun, are you hungry? Me and Tsu helped prepare a soup for you.” Izuku smiled brightly even though in his head he was having a mental war.
After an amazing breakfast of vegetable soup, Izuku felt that he should go and explore this “village”. He wandered around, watching as people bustled around. They seemed to all be going in the same direction, and Izuku even saw Aizawa-sensei who, based on the journal, was the village chief. He decided to follow the stream of people, letting them push him towards what appeared to be the centre of the village. Izuku saw, then, that there was a towering statue; a tuft of spiky hair, a fierce gaze even in stone, holding a long sword and shouting at something. It was a statue of Kacchan. Underneath him, there was a golden plinth which read:
Katsuki Bakugo
“I'll keep fighting. I'll break myself, even if there's nothing left of me, I will win the way I want to, I'll destroy myself before I accept defeat at your hands!” - Katsuki Bakugo
We will remember this man for sacrificing his life for this village.
