It’s a Great Big World

Summary:

Lieutenant Izuku Midoriya is making good his first trip through the Stargate with SG-21 Alpha and he’s about to see just how big the world outside his home on Earth.

Notes:

I’ve been a Stargate binge for about a month now and at some point I had the idea for an IzuOchaToga story where Izuku is with the SGC and Ochako is host to Himiko, who is a Tok’ra. There’s some more twists and turns, but I’ll save that for later ;)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: First Day On The Job

Chapter Text

Izuku took a deep breath as he walked up to the event horizon.

“First time, Lieutenant?” Teased the blonde scientist to his immediate right.

“Yeah, how about you, Dr. Shield?” The green haired young man replied.

The scientist let out a short laugh that almost sounded mocking. “No, no, not my first time.”

“Go easy on him, Mel,” chuckled Col. Bate, Izuku’s tall, blonde commanding officer. Don’t worry, Midoriya. You’re in good hands, isn’t he, Aizawa?”

“Just don’t screw anything up,” muttered Major Aizawa, Col. Bate’s second.

“SG-21A, you have a go!” Announced General Landry.

“I thought SG teams were just numbers? When did we bring the alphabet into it?” Izuku whispered.

“I’ll tell you in a second, just get to stepping first,” Dr. Shield replied.

Izuku nodded, took a deep breath and closed his eyes, then walked through the event horizon. When he opened his eyes he saw the most brilliant blue he’d ever seen, then before he even knew what was happening, everything dissolved and he felt a rushing sensation until he emerged in the middle of a gorgeous green forest.

Izuku let out a gasp as the sensations hit him all at once and then faded.

The airman took a knee as his body recovered.

“Wow. Okay. Yeah. Uh… Holy woah.”

Dr. Shield snorted. “Yep, that was about how it went for me too.”

“Same here,” Col. Bate chuckled. “The only one who didn’t freak out during their first trip through the gate was Aizawa here,” she noted, slapping the man on the back.

Aizawa’s face briefly cracked into a small smirk.

“You see that, Midoriya? That teeny tiny little smile? That’s rare.”

“Rarer than a double rainbow,” Dr. Shield joked.

Izuku snorted. “Oh I know all about Major Aizawa, he’s the reason I requested to be part of this team in particular.”

“Why would that be?” Col. Bate asked.

Izuku looked at his commanding officer then at his fellow Japanese-American and smirked. “I don’t know, major, what do you think I should tell her?”

Aizawa snorted. “Don’t be a smart ass.”

“You’ve made your point boys,” Bate chuckled.

“Hello? Hello!” Hollered a new voice.

“Ochako!” Greeted Dr. Shield, waving towards a beautiful, curvaceous woman with brown hair and eyes about her and Izuku’s age.

“Melissa Shield! How wonderful to see you again! Are you well?”

“I’m great, Ochako, how are you and Himiko?”

Izuku felt a sliver of disappointment. The gorgeous woman was seeing someone.

“Oh we’re doing just great! Colonel Bate? Major Aizawa? Are you guys doing okay as well?”

“We’re just peaches and cream, Ochako,” Bate replied, a warm smile gracing her features.

Aizawa shrugged, his normally harsh expression looking marginally less distant. “My daughter just turned five, I’m doing pretty well I suppose.”

“Oh that’s so wonderful Major!” The alien(?) woman turned to Izuku. “And just who might you be, sir?”

“Oh right, I’m Lieutenant Izuku Midoriya, I just became a field operative for the SGC. It’s great to meet ma’am,” the young man greeted, offering his hand to shake.

The woman shook his hand and smiled. “It’s good to meet you as well, Lieutenant.”

“Very good,” she added, wearing a feral grin as she pulled him in closer. Her eyes suddenly glowed and her voice was sounding unnaturally deep.

Col. Bate snorted. “Midoriya, you’ve met Ochako, now say hello to Himiko.”

“I- I don’t understand? Does she have D.I.D. or something?”

Bate shook her head. “No young man, you see where Ochako is an ordinary human like you and I-”

“I’ve seen your PR record ma’am, you are the furthest thing from ordinary,” Izuku retorted.

“Hey, you’re not too far behind me, champ,” Bate teased, punching him in the shoulder.

“Cute and strong, what a lovely combination,” Himiko teased.

“We’re getting off the subject,” Aizawa groaned.

Melissa playfully shook her head. “Okay, Izuku, you know about the Goa’uld right?”

“Uh, yeah, yeah, snake-like creatures who can take over people’s bodies right?”

“Well, Himiko is one of the Goa’uld’s nicer cousins, the Tok’ra.”

Izuku’s eyes lit up with recognition. “Oh! Okay! So it’s not two identities sharing one mind, it’s two separate minds, sharing one body, right?”

“And he’s smart too, please tell me you’re single?” Himiko asked.

Suddenly the woman bowed her head. “No, no, no, Himiko, tone it down. Tone it down,” Ochako giggled, backing away from the lieutenant, her face turning beet red.

“Oh no, don’t pretend you aren’t thinking it too,” Himiko teased, the deep voice and glowing eyes returning.

Now Izuku’s face was turning red.

“Okay, okay, you three, tone it down,” Bate suggested, sliding her arm between the two youngsters. “Himiko, you called the SGC about a problem your people are having?”

The brunette woman’s face fell. “Yes, it is not a major issue, but unfortunately one of our elders is dying,” Himiko explained. “His time is finite, but there’s still a fair amount left, we don’t expect any of you to be interested in taking him on, but we were hoping you could bring him back with you. He heard a great deal about earth from Selmak and Jacob and he was hoping he could see more for himself.”

The four members of the Tau’ri all exchanged looks.

“Well, we’ve had members of the Tok’ra visit the SGC on multiple occasions, but I don’t know if we’ve ever had them running around outside the base…” Bate noted, looking at her friend(s) cautiously.

“Toshinori and Wah’Tem are more than willing to submit to any tests you would deem necessary,” Himiko insisted.

Dr. Shield, the colonel, and the major all exchanged looks.

“Come with us to the SGC and we’ll all talk with General Landry. I don’t think any of us are opposed to the idea, but it’s not completely up to us,” Bate explained.

Himiko nodded. “Of course, we recognize that you have your superiors and they answer to your government. We’re both more than happy to do whatever we can to make this happen.”

“We’ll hold you to that,” the colonel replied, trying to keep her tone light.
