Chapter Text
Seras shifted slightly, sliding her arse to the edge of her leather chair. Getting up was a chore, even though she was stronger with an innate sense of balance. She felt sorry for mortal women who had to contend with the extra mass and weight but no increased strength to handle it.
She huffed softly, blowing a strand of hair out of her eyes before pulling a folder from the top of a small stack she had to get through. Seras was comfortable with using computers but there was something about having a hard copy to scribble rough notes, ideas, possible alternates and random thoughts down for further discussion.
Thankfully Seras had Magnus and her human assistants to take care of business and her more mundane affairs. Helena had agreed to live in Romania to help Seras fulfill her new growing duties and responsibilities in vampire society. It had been a slow, organic process, but more and more civilized vampires were moving closer to Romania, forming an unofficial court for the No-Life King. No one had said anything but it was only a matter of time before Alucard ascended into the role of ruler. For now he was content with expanding his mind and skills in other ways.
There was a soft sharp tap at the door. It was Helena. Alucard would not be so polite. Seras smirked as she remembered just how crude and relentless he could be. Seras found herself replacing her regular wardrobe with nano-silk garments because he kept destroying her clothes. Not that Seras was protesting how they were being destroyed… A soft dreamy smile curved her lips as she remembered their last romp, just this evening in the hallway outside her office. He had hiked her dress up and shredded her panties before proceeding to take her hard and fast against the wall. Seras had protested at first, not wanting to get caught, but he refused to bend and Seras had given in because deep down she wanted exactly what he did. He walked away with a smug smile and her panties in his pocket.
It had taken her a few seconds to pull herself together and stumble into her office. Luckily she had taken to stashing spare clothes all over the house. Seras could materialize clothing in a pinch but such garments tended to shift and reflect her moods. And she was just as susceptible to mood swings as a regular pregnant human. The household staff just rolled their eyes or smiled when they came across one of her stashes. They had caught her and Alucard in dishabille plenty of times in the unrestricted areas of the citadel. Seras honestly thought Alucard liked being caught, to show everyone just how deep and intimate his claim on her was, that their relationship was no transient holiday affair as a few outsiders were speculating.
A second sharp rap brought Seras to the present with a jolt. “Come in Helena,” she called out as she stood up wincing slightly. Vampirism did not make her immune to pregnancy induced back pains. She was willing to bet her Casulls that the baby would take after Alucard in size and height.
Seras was surprised to see Helena was not alone. There was a young human male with her. He was dressed in stone-washed jeans, a cable knit sweater and hiking boots, very much like a university student. He was not drop-dead attractive, but neither was he ugly. He had light brown hair, brown eyes, average looks and even features that did not stand out. She gave the small vampire a side-long look that had no effect on the older vampire.
“Seras, this is Sebastian.”
Seras blinked. That was new. Helena usually eschewed all contact with humans who would have questions about why a child was living alone with no adult supervision.
“He is my human servant. I found Sebastian on the streets of London when he was much younger. He is loyal, discreet, and dependable,” she assured Seras.
That changed things. Seras smiled more openly at Sebastian who smiled back tentatively.
“Tell Seras what you just told me,” Helena instructed him.
He nodded and proceeded to follow the child-vampire’s orders.
Sebastian had infiltrated the ranks of Hellsing, not as a soldier but as a household servant. There had been several attacks on the manor right after word had gotten out that Hellsing had lost their trump card, the No-Life King was gone. The number of incidents died off in recent months as the FREAK remnants were wiped out by various factions. As Hellsing rebuilt and replenished its resources, Walter Dornez had not been as stringent in the criteria used for replacing the household staff who had been killed or injured. Sebastian had taken every opportunity to observe all he could and report back to Helena.
“Walter was the one to locate a news article from a Eastern European newspaper, about Seras Demetrios, Head of Dragon Inc, marrying Adrian Vladimiros a few months ago. There were a few pictures that caught his attention.”
Seras frowned. “He’s probably seen Alucard in Zero Release before,” she murmured. Seeing Sebastian’s confusion she explained. “Alucard’s current appearance is how he used to look in Level Zero.” Alucard had chosen to modify his form to resemble his original human appearance: rougher, broader, thicker, with longer hair and facial hair. Seras liked it. It helped her distinguish him from the Master who had scorned and ignored her.
“The Round Table is hounding Sir Integra to locate Hellsing’s weapon,” Sebastian added. “She ordered Walter to make locating the No-Life King his highest priority.”
“But they haven’t found any leads,” Seras surmised.
“They haven’t, to the best of my knowledge,” Sebastian agreed. “It helps that most of the vampire populace has left Britain and no one is talking.”
“But Walter found the picture,” Seras murmured. “Is there any chance that Hellsing is on the way here?”
Sebastian shook his head. “The article talked about your marriage. And that you were expecting a child. She shouted at Walter that it was impossible. That Alucard would never be content with playing happy families with a silly blonde. That he would not last a month without causing death and destruction.”
Seras snorted. “Shows how much she knows Alucard,” she murmured.
“Do you want her neutralised?” Helena asked. “Just say the word and it will be done.”
Seras laughed. “I won’t have to lift a finger. Her pride and stubbornness will get her killed without any action on my part. Sooner or later she’s going to say or do something that will get her in over her head. And without Alucard to protect her…” she trailed off knowingly.
“She will die,” Helena murmured.
Seras nodded silently and stroked her belly bump, smiling as she felt her baby twist and turn. No, she did not have to do a thing. Karma and the Gods would take care of Hellsing. And if they didn’t… all Seras had to do was outlive them. And she already planned on doing just that. After all, she did have everything to live for.
