Chapter Text
It was 7 a.m. when Kim Dokja’s alarm went off. He rolled over to the other side of the bed, groping beside him, but there was nothing for him to hug. Sleepy, he slowly opened his eyes.
Yoo Joonghyuk’s bedside was cold and empty. It looked exactly like yesterday, so no one had slept inside last night, what meant that his boyfriend hadn’t come home yesterday either.
It was horrible. Kim Dokja felt incredible lonely, waking up in an empty bed every day.
The interview had already been three days ago, but they still hadn’t seen each other since then – Kim Dokja was way too busy with his new book release (what in other words meant that his editor was using up all of his time because the release was already scheduled to be in six weeks, whoever had thought it was a good idea too push it that far up ahead), while Yoo Joonghyuk was still on some business trip.
Somewhere during the last three days he must have been home – there were more clothes in the laundry basket and some of Yoo Joonghyuk’s suits were missing – but unfortunately, it was while Kim Dokja was having an appointment, so they had missed each other again.
Kim Dokja knew that Yoo Joonghyuk must be back in Seoul since yesterday, but considering his current work schedule, he was basically just hopping from one appointment and business trip to another, so he was barely home in the first place. Sometimes, when it was already late, he didn’t even go home to sleep and stayed at a hotel instead, since it was more convenient.
Kim Dokja obviously didn’t understand much of the work Yoo Joonghyuk did, but it seemed that they had some huge project going on and therefore, he had to meet up with a lot of important clients or customers.
Every single morning Kim Dokja woke up all alone in their huge king sized bed, he felt that sadness in his heart. He missed laying next to his boyfriend, cuddling him when he was supposed to get up. He always got some soft kisses on his forehead and a tight squeeze from Yoo Joonghyuk in return, until his boyfriend got up and prepared some breakfast, while Kim Dokja was still lingering in bed half asleep.
Mornings like this were his absolutely favourite.
How long was it that they even slept in the same bed together? A week? Or already two? Kim Dokja had pulled so many all nighters to meet his deadline, that he couldn’t remember, and right when he was finally done and had some time, Yoo Joonghyuk was the one who was barely at home.
It felt like an eternity that they last saw each other. Kim Dokja wanted to see him so desperately, that he was close to cancel all of his appointments and go to wherever his boyfriend was right now just to hug him, needing to feel his warmth again.
But he knew that it would be stupid. As much as he wanted to see Yoo Joonghyuk, if he would neglect his work because of it, he would only get an earful from his workaholic boyfriend who would tell him that it was important to do his work properly.
Yoo Joonghyuk also hardly responded to his messages, even if he read them. Kim Dokja had asked him about the interview, offered to call him to talk about it, but his boyfriend had ignored his question. Instead, the only messages he send were his "Have you slept well?", in the morning and a reminder to "Eat properly while I’m away and get enough sleep", in the evening. Honestly, at some point Kim Dokja even suspected that it were generated questions that were automatically send every day.
It wasn’t that unusual that Yoo Joonghyuk wouldn’t reply – since his boyfriend was often in some meetings, attended events or had important business dinners, he never had the time to answer messages. If he would reply 1-2 times per day it was already much.
Kim Dokja desperately wanted to talk to him. It was just his bad luck that their schedules didn’t overlap and Yoo Joonghyuk was too busy to call or reply. He just had to wait for the busy times to be over, just like always. There would be calmer times again.
With a sigh, Kim Dokja finally got up, ate some leftovers and got dressed. Today he decided to wear better looking clothes – not something fancy like a suit, but nothing too casual, since he wanted to look presentable during the interview.
Riding the wave of social media, his management decided it was a good idea tod accept the interview offer from a popular book influencer. So far, Kim Dokja hadn’t given much interviews anyway and only with some book magazines, so it was the first time that he would meet someone who did in front of a camera. He still didn’t like showing his face that much in public, but he also couldn’t deny that his popularity was now at a point where it slowly became necessary.
The interview was in another city that was a bit further away so he had decided to stay there for the night, thinking that it was too much of a hassle to go back the same day. To his misery, Yoo Joonghyuk also went to a business trip to Europe, that would last for at least a week, the day after tomorrow, what also meant that tomorrow was probably the only evening they had together for a while.
Why did the universe hate Kim Dokja that much? All he wanted to do was to cuddle his gorgeous boyfriend.
Jung Heewon, his personal guard, was waiting for him outside of his apartment. She technically worked for Yoo Joonghyuk, but his boyfriend had insisted that he took her with him whenever he left town, just to be safe. Kim Dokja doubted that someone would seriously try to harm an author, and Kim Dokja wasn’t nearly famous enough to be in serious danger, but his overprotective lover thought differently. There was no way he could discuss this matter with him, Yoo Joonghyuk would do what he wanted anyway.
Not to mention that Kim Dokja had horrible direction skills, so it was always better if someone looked after him, so that he wouldn’t get lost somewhere. It wouldn’t be the first time after all.
Jung Heewon didn’t smile when she saw him, but she seemed to be in a really good mood today.
"Are you ready?", she asked and he nodded, getting in the car. As always she would drive him to his appointment, since Yoo Joonghyuk didn’t like it when Kim Dokja used public transport.
The closer they were to their destination, the more nervous Kim Dokja felt – he never enjoyed being the centre of attention, and even if it was just some online influencer, that guy had almost one million subscribers on his channel.
So lot of people would watch the interview.
Sure, his manager Yoo Sangah (that couldn’t accompany him today since she had to go to a signing event with Han Sooyoung she also supervised), got the questions beforehand, so that he could prepare his answers, but he still felt uneasy.
"Do I look okay?", he asked and Jung Heewon didn’t even look his way when she answered.
"You look ordinary as always."
Kim Dokja didn’t know if it was a good or a bad thing.
Once they reached their destination, Kim Dokja rung the bell with a nervous feeling in his stomach. The influencer who opened the door, looked excited and eagerly shook his hand. He was just the same as in his videos – cheerful, with a loud and clear voice and a friendly smile that helped calming his nerves a bit.
The whole interview went pretty well. Despite his earlier nervousness, Kim Dokja loosened up after some time and could talk in a more relaxed manner, feeling more and more comfortable in front of the camera. This guy was making a good job, he was someone that exactly knew what to do to make someone feel more at ease, and Kim Dokja felt some sympathy towards him.
Even after the interview was over and the camera turned off, they still continued talking – mostly about the books they’ve read, since it seemed like they had similar tastes and liked the same genres.
He offered him to go eat Dinner together, since he knew a good restaurant nearby, and Kim Dokja, who didn’t have anything else do to, agreed.
Overall, they had a nice evening with a bit of alcohol and tasty food. Afterwards, Kim Dokja went to the Hotel where he stayed, saying his goodbyes to Jung Heewon. He a bit drunk and dead tired, but he missed Yoo Joonghyuk so much that he wanted to talk to him no matter what.
Kim Dokja tried to call his boyfriend, but not really surprisingly, he didn’t answer his phone. He was probably still busy with his work, some business dinner or was already preparing for his business trip to Europe. Why had he even tried? Of course he wouldn’t give him even a bit of time when he needed it.
Annoyed, Kim Dokja turned off his phone and went to bed, trying not to think about Yoo Joonghyuk too much.

The next morning, Kim Dokja got up early. He had a meeting with Yoo Sangah later, and he was also meeting up with Han Sooyoung in the evening, since she was writing on her new book and asked him if he was willing to talk with her about it.
With a yawn he got dressed, then he went to eat breakfast with Jung Heewon. Unlike him, she seemed refreshed and was still in a good mood.
Only when he sat in the car, he finally turned his phone back on – not expecting a missed call from his boyfriend. And of course, he didn’t call him back. There wasn’t even his usual good morning text.
The only message he had was from Han Sooyoung, and he frowned when he read it.
Han Sooyoung
What did you do this time?
What did she mean? He hadn’t done anything at all… the interview wasn’t uploaded yet and he highly doubted that he said something that would cause such a reaction. With a dark foreboding, he opened his official twitter account and immediately saw a post from Yoo Joonghyuk.
Yoo Joonghyuk CEO of Supreme @YooJoonghyukOfficial
Since all of you are interested, let me give you a small hint.
We are together for five years now, and he is still the most beautiful man I ever met.
Of course, Kim Dokja immediately checked the comments under the post, knowing full well what they would be about.
FIVE years? He hid that for FIVE YEARS?
What was the name of that one model, that followed Yoo Joonghyuk around? Nirvana or something?
Who would have thought this cold guy is actually a simp?!
I still think it’s just an ordinary guy like us or maybe someone from his work.
I want a boyfriend like him.
What if it’s some forbidden office romance? Does someone know who started working in his Company five years ago?!
If this guy is beautiful, then I’m pretty sure he is a model or a singer.
Guys, don’t forget he has a secretary. That guy looks fine as hell.
There was only one reason why Yoo Joonghyuk would post something like this, stirring the fire even more. He wanted to make Kim Dokja jealous, because people would never expect him to be said boyfriend and would continue with their wild speculations, dropping random names.
But what exactly had Kim Dokja done to deserve such kind of treatment? He couldn’t remember that he did anything that would trigger Yoo Joonghyuk’s possessive side.
Then Kim Dokja noticed that he had a lot of notifications as well. It wasn’t something unusual in general, since he was often mentioned from time to time – what was the reason why he turned his notifications off – but the number was much bigger than normally.
Someone had mentioned him in a tweet. He clicked on the post and saw a picture of him and that book influencer. He had an arm around his shoulder and they both smiled in the camera, looking as if they had fun. Kim Dokja recalled that he gave his permission to post that online, not thinking much about the possible consequences.
I finally got to meet @KimDokjaOfficial today! I’m so happy that I was able to interview one of my favourite authors. He is just as friendly and awesome in real life.
Of course, that post also got a lot of comments and Kim Dokja suspected that they were the reason why his boyfriend was suddenly posting misleading things regarding his relationship.
Omg, Kim Dokja hardly posts any pictures online!! He is so cute!!
You both look totally adorable together!
I can’t wait to see that interview.
You seem like you already became good friends.
Is there the possibility that we get some more content of you together on your channel…?
So Yoo Joonghyuk got jealous and reacted like he always did.
Kim Dokja stared at the post, then he turned off his phone again. In his eyes, Yoo Joonghyuk’s reaction was way too extreme, and he honestly felt even more annoyed than before.
It made him sad that not even one person in the whole world was even thinking of Kim Dokja to be Yoo Joonghyuk’s possible boyfriend, and at the same time, he was angry that Yoo Joonghyuk had the time to post stupid posts like this, but couldn’t even spare him some time to call him.
But what annoyed him the most was that, even if he was angry at this bastard, he still desperately wanted to see him more than anything else.
