“It’s hot as shit,” Eddie finally announces, moving his arm just enough to catch a glimpse of Steve next to him.
Steve smiles, seemingly unconcerned by the unrelenting heat.
He's tanned, and glistening in the sun, looking every bit of a Greek god. That bastard.
Eddie's actually seen Steve in Athens, at the fucking Olympiad itself, and he damn well didn't look anything like he does right now. Steve was only nineteen then, still just a kid chasing a dream. And, now he's a man. A gorgeous man.
Eddie is pretty sure he looks like an overheated, wet cat in comparison.

“Steve…” Eddie’s eyes darted down, a thumb reaching out to brush across Steve’s waist, against the uneven skin there. “My scars are…well, you’ve seen them. They’re worse than yours, they’re…disgusting, and the kids don’t need to see them.”
A soft noise escaped Steve, his brow furrowing. “Don’t say that, Eds.”
“What?”
“That they’re disgusting.”
Eddie scoffed. “Well, it’s the truth.”

Pre Steddie. The Munson AC box is broken. It's hot in that trailer. So hot, that Steve doesn't wear a shirt when they hang out there.
One day when Eddie is out (band, DnD, work you decide) Steve helps Wayne fix it.
Only Eddie doesn't know Steve helped fix it, so the next time Steve comes over, Eddie plays up being so hot with the AC still broken.
Dealer's choice on if Steve calls him out right away, OR if he plays along and when Wayne returns calls both the idiots out.

It's the summer of '85 and Starcourt is the place to be. Eddie has sworn to his friends that he can get them in to see Back to the Future/Day of the Dead/whatever is out. The only problem is, he's flat broke and on probation: caught once too often by Jim Hopper, and unable to sell for the foreseeable future.
But one day, he witnesses something scandalous: King Steve sneaking children into the movies! Eddie hatches a plan: cozy up to The Hair just in time to bag himself and his friends free seats to whatever shows they want to see, then drop him at the end of summer. Steve's a ditz and a jerk, so who cares?
Except of course Eddie finds himself falling for the guy he's supposed to be scamming...
(Timeline in canon is a little tight, I know, so up to you if you want to include the Upside Down or not.)

AU, fake relationship, Steve and Eddie are summer camp counselors! They are also, according to the not-very-discerning and way too blunt kids, the camp's only two gay people and because of this, they are obviously into each other. To shut them up (and to stop the constant parent trapping), Steve and Eddie agree to pretend they are dating until the end of the season.

They’re groupies. Stevie feels dumb; of course girls can have groupies. Still, she’s never really thought about the logistics of such a thing before. “But where do you sleep?” she asks before she can help herself.
Holly smirks. “In a motel if I’m flush. In my car if I’m not. And if I’m lucky…” Holly leans in and pinches Stevie’s flushed cheek. “In her bed.”
Robin bursts into a coughing fit. Stevie can tell that Holly’s waiting for her to do the same, that she wants to shock her. But once it sinks in, all it really means is that Eddie is interested. Eddie sleeps with girls who come to her shows. And that means Stevie has a shot.

Steve looked up at it, his face blank and unreadable, almost as though he were…somewhere else, somewhere other than safe on Uncle Wayne’s front porch.
Eddie knew where he’d gone.
He squeezed his boyfriend a little tighter to his side, pressed a gentle kiss to the side of his head.
“I’ve gotcha, sweetheart,” he whispered. “You’re safe.”

Steve glanced between the two of them, battling internal turmoil. “It’s ok, I don’t wanna…mess anything up.”
Wayne chuckled lightly. “It’s not a test or nothing, Steve. Come along, catch some fish, keep Eddie entertained. You’d be more than welcome.”
“Well…” Steve looked back to Eddie, where his boyfriend was digging his nails slightly into his leg now, watching him with imploring eyes. He wanted to say yes, he really did, but did they actually want him to come, or was Wayne just being polite?
“Stevie,” Eddie whispered, “say yes. It would make my day, seriously.”
Steve never could say no to him. He smiled, small and shy, and nodded. “Ok. If you’re sure. I’d…I’d like that.”

Summary
Enemies (to friends) to lovers Camp AU
Dusting and Will had trouble funding the summer camp this year but told Steve they found a way. The way turned out to be a social worker volunteer with a bus full of other struggling kids.
Eddie volunteers to help the poorer kids have fun and managed to get funds to bring them to a summer camp. He just has to step in as a counselor.
