Emma and Neal Swan ended up in the foster system after their parents died in a crash. Due to Neal being deaf and they are siblings, no one wants to adopt or foster them. That is until the Nolan's show up, they take the siblings into their home. The Nolan's are strict Christians and especially Emma struggles with that as she is gay.
Regina Mills is a deaf child actor who is dreaming about her breakthrough. She appeared on kids show when she was six and earned a little fame over it. Now, at seventeen she is preparing for her biggest role ever on a new scifi tv show.
On one faithful day, Emma visits the set just as Regina's interpreter fell sick and Emma steps in to help. This little act of kindness will change both of their lives forever.
