I completely missed this discussion. I had no idea that people had an objection to non-fiction work. Are there available resources giving reason for why people find it offense?
I do write a fair amount of non-fiction based upon research that evolves out of my research I do for my fanfiction, obviously based in the original (usually book canon). It never occurred that this would be inappropriate to share. I'm fascinated as to why, since for me it is all part of the same appreciation and examination of the originals upon which transformative works are based.
My primary concern is really just about being able to find fic (as a reader) and letting others find my stuff (as an author). I already have pretty much no luck trying to find what I want in larger fandoms, so making the categories even bigger with no control/filtering is frustrating.
