“Alex,” Michael breathes in shock.
Alex turns to him, and his eyes widen almost comically. He licks his lips several times, as if struggling with something, and opens his mouth.
“Michael.” The sound barely qualifies as a whisper, and Michael reads it on his lips more than he hears it.
Alex coughs and tries again. “Michael.” It's barely louder, and he winces like it hurts him.
