The basic headcanon from which sprang this series, or Why Jason Is So ____:
Jason is kind of epically passive aggressive in addition to straight-up punchy, so he's secretly really smug that he's the screw-up black sheep eating homemade pasta with homegrown veg and truffle oil whilst millionaires Tim and Dick have actual low-key malnutrition from their diets of processed food, and Bruce literally starves without Alfred or restaurants. Probably similar thoughts go around with his perfectly pressed, neatly darned base-layer bodysuits (made of ethically-sourced wool and smelling mildly of warm citrus laundry oils) compared to Dick's rumply Nightwing suit that's been wadded up on the floor for a week (and washed…ever). Jason's the guy who leaves super polite notes in a lovely calligraphic hand all over everybody's bedroom doors at the manor saying that he washed their dirty breakfast dishes for them, AGAIN, because dear, old Alfred shouldn't have to deal with that ON TOP of EVERYTHING ELSE he does for EVERYONE in this house, RIGHT???
But he does have a sort of reverential relationship with food- like, now that he's not experiencing food insecurity, he's going to enjoy the heck out of every aspect of food he never knew to dream about. And he wants to be as self-sufficient with his food as possible, because there’s surety in that.
The other Bats all being rich as Mansa Musa and effectively incapable of feeding themselves annoys the crap out of him.
