The hardest part was that the crew could tell that the grief and loneliness were eating at him, and despite their best efforts, there wasn’t really anything they could do about it. They weren’t Uma and Harry, and they couldn’t bring his significant others back to him, let alone bring back Fawn or their sense of safety. He had gotten slowly, depressingly used to missing things – his significant others, his safety, sleep – and maybe that was why he was so surprised to see those that he missed the most coming up the gangplank of their ship one morning.
