The Harder I Swim The Faster I Sink by DarkoftheMoon

Summary
First he would gather a breath, as much as he could, then he would sink — all the way to the bottom. Letting himself reach the silty floor. Perhaps a grindylow would wrap itself around his legs. Or one of the merpeople would pull him deeper still. Stealing his oxygen. They could have it.
When he was sufficiently dissatisfied that he wasn’t going to be taken captive by a resident of the lake he would dig his feet into the muck and push himself upwards, propelling to the surface while the water rushed alongside him. And for those few minutes he wasn’t a Death Eater. He wasn’t Lucius’s son. He was just a boy underwater. Drowning without really drowning.

Summary
It was better when he was with her. The ache, just behind his ribs. Worse than any curse he’d taken. Worse than any punch or kick. It was a forever sort of pain. But when he could hold her — when he could kiss her again and again, like they could just be together — that ache was dulled.

Summary
The portkey was wrapped in a damp handkerchief so he tucked it into his pocket. There was only one healer he trusted. Only one healer he wanted to see.
Deep breaths in and out helped center him. He focused on his magical core, willing it to do one last thing for him. Willing all of his magic to gather. Rest later, he promised, and turned on his heel. Picturing a narrow street and a dusty pub. Not caring if he splinched during apparition because she could make it better. She made him better.

Summary
He thought about all the parts he’d left behind. All the new things he’d gathered and mended together. Forming a tapestry of something unexpected. Something his parents never would have imagined for him. But he liked his jagged stitches and mismatched bits of fabric. They’d started to make him whole. She’d held the thimble and given him needle and thread. Together they’d made something from everything they had to give.
