Summary
As much as Feng Xin looked like his old self from the back, there was no mistaking the fact that he was a ghost now. His golden skin was now pale as a sheet, his eyes sunken deeper than before and yet still this gorgeous amber color that Mu Qing could seldom force himself to look away from. He was still the most beautiful man Mu Qing had ever seen, although he was now much more silent than Mu Qing had ever imagined him capable of being.
It was unnerving and, facing such silence, Mu Qing reacted in the only way he knew: he snapped.
"How the fuck did you get yourself killed?" he bit out, although he dreaded the answer.
He hadn't expected Feng Xin to just... smile. His first words to Mu Qing after centuries of being separated hit the martial god harder than any punch ever could.
"A sword to my left side."
His left side, where Mu Qing used to stand, always.

Summary
"You're still holding things back from Mu Qing. You shouldn't assume you have forever simply because you're both immortals. Treasure every moment of every day spent with him, because who knows what might happen?"
"I'd come back to him if this body got killed. And even if my ashes were destroyed, I'd reincarnate and find him again."
"But he wouldn't."
(In which Feng Xin is horny and doesn't want Mu Qing to know about it, until he's reminded that eternity might be more fleeting than it seems. Telling Mu Qing goes... surprisingly well.)

Summary
The gods didn't see him as a threat.
Fine, he was an oddball amongst Supreme ghosts. All of the other ones had killed one or several Heavenly Officials at some point. Feng Xin had not only never killed a god, but also never caused trouble for the Heavenly Capital.
If he didn't cause trouble, then nobody had any reason to give him trouble. Win-win, right?
Well. Apparently not.
(In which the Heavenly Officials kind of forgot that Feng Xin is a Supreme, and get reminded of it the hard way when a bunch of them ambush and injure Mu Qing.)

Summary
Nobody believes in the gods these days, but it doesn't matter when General Xuan Zhen still has one very devoted, ghostly believer.
(In which the Heavenly Officials still exist after all this time despite losing almost everything, now immortals but without most of their powers, but Mu Qing doesn't care because he still gets to have Feng Xin by his side. Here's a little slice of their daily life.)
