“Waiting for somebody?”
The man who’s slipped onto the next stool has absolutely no business talking to him. Or, the other way ‘round: Elias has no business with someone who looks like that. More piercings in each ear than are countable in a glance, short sleeves cutting off tattoos he imagines exploring with his tongue, dark hair falling to his shoulders, incredibly white teeth. The look of him rather puts Elias in mind of wildness, and he’s taken aback by his own interest, immediate and overpowering, in sinking his teeth into that decorated skin. This is not the sort of man who goes for Elias.
But here he is, and Elias thinks, There you are, as if this is what he’s been waiting on all along.
