Summary
I looked at the Demon Lord, my eyes were barely able to focus on the girl after she completely dusted Kumoko with Abyss magic. I... I was too slow. Even after reverse engineering Sloth to make me move at relativistic speeds, I was unable to save my best friend. I was careless and overconfident, and that's what got her killed.
But as suddenly as it came, my feelings of sorrow were replaced raw unadulterated rage.
"Anger is a weapon. Let it drive you to greater heights, but don't let it consume your mind."
The words of my sensei came to mind as I forced the emotion away from my mind. No, I can't afford to be angry right now, not with what I'm about to do.
The Demon Lord turned and pointed her finger at me. Particles gathered at the tip of her digit and a purple beam shot toward me.

"It has been a long time, hasn't it Kumoko?" Rosemary said as she stood in front of Kumoko's impromptu grave. "It has been, what? Two months since my last visit? Well, I've been busy. Busy tracking the Demon Lord down. Earlier today, I've got a lead from one of the info brokers I work with. Tomorrow, I'm going to confront her. This could be our last conversation, so I guess this is good bye for now. I'm going to avenge you, that is a promise. It doesn't matter how many bodies I'll have to pile up to achieve that."

Light violet orbs clashed with ruby red as the two draconic monsters stared at each other. Mirei's hands found themselves instinctively traveling behind the guard of the Murasama.
"Maybe," The Dark Wyrm replied, "Perhaps if I had been the one who hatched early in the Labyrinth, I would be trotting the down you took and you would walk down mine. But, that is not now. Right now, I am the Hero's familiar and you're the Tenth Army Vice-Commander. Right now, we are enemies."
Mirei nodded at Feirune's declaration. Maybe if she had hatched early, she would be "Feirune" and Feirune would be just Rosemary. But the Dark Wyrm is right, that is not now. Now, they’re enemies fighting for their respective sides.
After a mutual nod of respect, the two fighters dashed toward one another. Sparks flew as steel clashed with reinforced claws. Both combatants are giving their all as there was too much to lose if they were to fail.
