Summary
“We’ll fix this.” Steve murmured, lowering his head to press his cheek against the top of Danny’s head, the shorter man taking the opportunity to bury his face in the soft fabric of Steve’s shirt. “You and me together, we’ll fix this. Tell me, when has life thrown an obstacle in our way, and we haven’t sorted it out together?”

Summary
He worries, then, because how will things move along? No one ever said life would be easy, but it seemed like whoever happened to be in charge of these things were laughing a little extra at the turmoil they threw in Steve’s direction. Steve had already told his sister their father was dead, and now he would have to sit her down again, and tell her Doris was gone too.

Summary
One day, he would wake up and things wouldn't feel so bad. The sound of birds chirping and waves crashing against the sand would once again remind him of something good, and his morning swim would feel like something for himself rather than an obligation to the world. Until then, he would take a deep breath, and leave Steve at the door when he left, because he had to stay strong, to keep it together, for all of them.
Or, 5 times Steve kept it together, and 1 time he didn't.

Summary
It wasn’t that they never planned to talk about it, where to take their relationship further. Truth be told, more times than not, they had agreed it would be discussed over the next dinner when the kids would be with Rachel, but then they would catch a case, and even though they ended up crashing together at either one of their places, being covered in dirt and blood with aching muscles and the need to sleep for three days didn’t seem like a good starting point when it came to the important talk of moving in together.
Or, 5 times Steve hints he wants Danny to move in, and 1 time he tells him.
